Knowledges and Attitudes of Nursing Care Workers toward the Elderly (1)
Eun Young Cho,Joeng Sook Lee,Yoon Jung 한국노인복지학회 2011 International Journal of Welfare for the Aged Vol.25 No.-
In this study, we reviewed concepts of elderly care and explore significant concepts of attitudes and images about the care workers. In particular, we examined basic attitudes of nursing staffs in medical centers and care workers in rural areas and urban facilities in 2009. There is a significant impact of age, time of work(or work experience), religion, gender, and marital status have impacts on adjustment and adaptations into nursing home lives and workers` attitudes. Religion and region are the most salient key impacts on the general attitudes of the care workers toward the elderly. Thus, most nursing places are encouraged be within religious institution accompanied by the nursing care places like a nursing center attached to a local church.
Extreme returns and idiosyncratic risks: evidence from an emerging market
( Eunyoung Cho ) 한국파생상품학회(구 한국선물학회) 2021 선물연구 Vol.29 No.1
In this paper, we show that there is a negative premium for MAX stocks in the Korean stock market. However, there is no evidence that the MAX effect overwhelms the effects of idiosyncratic risk. When we control for idiosyncratic risk, the negative relationship between extreme returns and future returns is less robust. Rather, the cross-effect of the extreme returns and the idiosyncratic risk factors explains the negative premium. Furthermore, our results are not fully explained by the exposure to the market timing and economic state. Overall, both the extreme return and idiosyncratic risk effects appear to coexist in the Korean stock market, but they are not independently.

The dopamine D2 receptor and D3 receptor (D2R, D3R) have high homology in both their amino acid composition and signaling pathways. Virtually all signaling pathways reported thus far overlap between the two receptors with the exception that the D3R signals are 2~5 times less efficient than D2R. Previous studies have suggested that conformational constraints of D3R might be responsible for the poor coupling with the G protein. To test this hypothesis, point mutations were introduced into some of the conserved regions between D2R and D3R, and their effects on receptor expression were investigated. Among the four conserved intracellular receptor regions examined (TTT motif in the 1st intracellular loop, SS motif in the 2nd intracellular loop, YxxL and TxxS/xS motifs in the 3rd intracellular loop), a mutation of the Thr-Thr-Thr (TTT) motif in the first intracellular loop or the LxxY motif in the 3rd intracellular loop markedly decreased the level of D3R expression compared with D2R. The TTT motif was further mutated individually or in combination to test which residue plays a critical role on the expression of the receptor proteins. Different amino acids between D2R and D3R in the 1st intracellular loop were exchanged to determine if the adjacent amino acid residues are responsible for the differences between D2R and D3R. The first two threonine residues become more important when the individual threonine residue is mutated. However, all three intact threonine residues are essential for proper expression of the receptor proteins. The neighboring sequences around the triplet threonine residues in the 1st loop of D3R are not important for proper positioning of the receptor proteins on the plasma membrane. It was concluded that D2R has a more flexible overall conformation that can accept mutated residues in the intracellular region than D3R, which might be partly responsible for the quantitative differences in the signaling efficiency between D2R and D3R.
Suggestive Evidence for Linkage of Schizophrenia to Chromosome 8p21-12 in Multiplex Korean Families

Objectives-Chromosome 8p21-12 has been identified as a susceptibility locus for schizophrenia based on several genomewide linkage scans with Caucasian families. The purpose of this study is to investigate the linkage of this locus to schizophrenia in Korean families. Materials and Methods-We recruited ninety-one family members from twenty-seven multiplex schizophrenia families. Fifty-nine of them were affected individuals. Seven microsatellite markers of this region with 3cM intervals were genotyped. Non-parametric linkage analysis was performed by evaluating the levels of allele sharing between the affected relative pairs. Results-In the multi-point analysis, all the points tested within this area showed positive but non-significant non-parametric lod (NPL) scores with the peak occurring between D8S1820 and D8S1769. In the single point analysis, statistically significant allele sharing was observed at D8S1769 (NPL=1.65, p=0.049). Higher levels of NPL scores (the highest single point NPL=1.98, p=0.025) were observed when the same analyses were applied to a subgroup of families in which all of the affected individuals showed auditory hallucination. Conclusions-These findings support the previous evidence from Caucasian families for a locus predisposing to schizophrenia at 8p21-12. Further studies designed to screen positional candidate genes and their SNPs at this locus are warranted, in order to identify the specific causative genetic variation of schizophrenia.
An Elaborated Duplicate Study of Attitudes of Long Term Care Workers

N/A The present study examined functional effects of a new selective phosphodiesterase type 5inhibitor,1-[4-ethoxy-3-(6,7-diydro-l-methyl-7-thioxo-3-propyl-1H-pyrazolo[4,3]pyrimidin-5-yl)phenylsulphonyl]-4-methyl piperazine(KJH-1002), in the isolated rabbit corpus cavernosum(RCC). Relaxing effects of KJH-1002 were also compared with those of sildenafil, which is currently used as an oral therapy for penile erectile dysfunction. In the isolated RCC precontracted with phenylephrine, both KJH-1002 and sildenafil in the concentration range of 1 to 100nM, produced a comparable potentiation of the electrical field stimulation-induced relaxation in a concentration-dependent manner. In the sodium nitroprusside(SNP)-induced relaxation, the C_(50) values, concentrations of SNP required to produce a 50% relaxation of the phenylephrine-induced contraction, were significantly decreased to the similar extent by treatments with KJH-1002 and sildenafil. The results suggest that a new selective phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, KJH-1002, has an augmentative effect on penile erection comparable to that of sildenafil and can be useful for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
Skewness Preference and IPO Underpricing : International Evidence
Eunyoung Cho,Woojin Kim 한국재무학회 2020 한국재무학회 학술대회 Vol.2020 No.08
This paper examines the impact of expected skewness on IPO underpricing based on a comprehensive set of 17,051 IPOs from 23 countries between 1990 and 2013. We find that IPOs with high expected skewness have significantly higher first-day return around the world, confirming the previous results based on U.S. IPOs. Such preference for skewness remains robust to estimation method or portfolio formation and is more pronounced in countries with relatively higher gambling propensity, a larger number of non-religious populations, and more individualistic culture. Finally, IPOs with high expected skewness underperform those with low expected skewness. Our results provide additional empirical support for skewness preference and pricing of lottery type assets in an international setting.
