Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in electric vehicles, electronic devices, and energy storage systems owing to their high energy density, long life, and outstanding performance. However, various internal and external factors affect the battery performance, leading to deterioration and ageing. Accurately estimating the state of health (SOH), state of charge (SOC), and remaining useful life (RUL) of batteries is challenging owing to complex operating characteristics and changing internal physical parameters. With the increasing availability of shared battery data and improved computer performance, the use of data-driven methods for battery health estimations and RUL predictions has gained popularity. We provide a comprehensive review of several studies in which data-driven methods were used for SOC and SOH estimation and RUL prediction. Specifically, we focus on the importance of open battery-cycling databases, various prediction methods used, and results obtained using each of these methods. Moreover, we aim to facilitate further research by providing a comprehensive description of the current state-of-the-art methods employed in battery health estimation and RUL prediction using open databases and machine-learning algorithms. Thus, we hope that this review will help researchers to develop accurate and reliable predictive models for battery health assessment in the future.
Longitudinal Impact of Depression on Quality of Life in Stroke Patients

Objective-Stroke is associated with significant long-term morbidity and poor quality of life (QOL). Depression is one of the most common complications after stroke and has been associated with QOL cross-sectionally. We investigated the longitudinal impact of depression in the acute phase of stroke on QOL 1 year after stroke. Methods-In total, 423 patients were evaluated 2 weeks after stroke, and 288 (68%) were followed 1 year later. QOL was assessed using the World Health Organization Quality of Life-Abbreviated form (WHOQOL-BREF) at baseline and follow-up. Depression was diagnosed according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV criteria; demographic and clinical characteristics data, including stroke severity, were obtained at baseline. The longitudinal associations of post-stroke depression (PSD) at baseline with QOL across two evaluation points were assessed using a repeated-measures analysis of variance. Results-The WHOQOL-BREF scores were significantly and persistently lower 1 year after stroke in patients with PSD at baseline compared with those without PSD at baseline independent of demographic and clinical characteristics, including stroke severity. Conclusion-PSD in the acute phase of stroke is an independent predictor of QOL in both the acute and chronic phases of stroke. Our findings underscore the importance of evaluating depression in the acute phase of stroke.

<P>Ultrastructural deformities were monitored after cryopreservation of F1 (B6CBAF1) mouse ovaries by either slow freezing or vitrification. Vacuole formation in the ooplasm, zona pellucida, and the cytoplasm of follicular cells, and mitochondrial deformity were detected. These types of cryodamage demonstrated protocol specificity.</P>

<P> Compared with the <I>in vivo</I> environment, porcine <I>in vitro</I> embryo-culture systems are suboptimal, as they induce oxidative stress via the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). High ROS levels during early embryonic development cause negative effects, such as apoptosis. In this study, we examined the effects of the antioxidant carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide (Ge-132) during <I>in vitro</I> culture (IVC) on embryonic development in porcine <I>in vitro</I> fertilization (IVF) embryos. Zygotes were treated with different concentrations of Ge-132 (0, 100, 200 and 400 μg/ml). All of the Ge-132 treatment groups displayed greater total cell numbers after IVC (98.1, 98.5 and 103.4, respectively) compared with the control group (73.9). The 200 μg/ml Ge-132 treatment group exhibited significantly increased intracellular GSH levels compared with the control group, whereas the ROS generation levels decreased in Ge-132 dose-dependent manner (P < 0.05). The mRNA expression levels of the <I>KEAP1</I> gene and proapoptotic genes <I>BAX</I> and <I>CASPASE3</I> were lower in the Ge-132 treated blastocysts compared with the control group (P < 0.05). The percentages of apoptotic and necrotic cells in the Ge-132 treated embryos on day 2 (48 h) were significantly lower than the untreated embryos (9.1 <I>vs</I>. 17.1% and 0 <I>vs</I>. 2.7%, respectively). In the day 7 blastocysts, the percentages of apoptotic cells in 200 µg/ml Ge-132 treated group were lower compared to controls (1.6 <I>vs</I>. 2.5%). More KEAP1 protein was found to be localized in cytoplasm of the 200 μg/ml Ge-132 treated blastocysts, whereas KEAP1 protein was predominantly nuclei in the control blastocysts. These results indicate that the developmental competence of embryos cultured under Ge-132 treatment may be associated with KEAP1 signaling cascades involved in oxidative stress and apoptosis during porcine preimplantation embryo development.</P>

While efficient and cost-effective catalysts are needed for long-term hydrogen production, low-dimensional interfacial approaches have been developed to increase catalytic activity performance in hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). We calculated the Gibbs free energy change (ΔGH) in hydrogen adsorption in the two-dimensional lateral heterostructures (LHS) at various adsorption points in each unit-cell using density functional theory (DFT). We developed three types of descriptors (position feature, weight feature, average feature) that may be utilized universally in 2D materials, also can explain ΔGH based on different adsorption sites in a single LHS combining basic LHS information (the type and quantity of neighboring atoms around the adsorption point). Furthermore, we trained machine learning (ML) models with the specified descriptors to predict the potential conjunction and adsorption sites within the LHS for HER catalysts. ML model in this research reached R2 score of 0.95. Additionally, 8 LHS materials were examined successfully with the ML model.
