        Three partial mitochondrial genomes from Ips (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae) contribute to the phylogeny of Scolytinae

        Partial mitogenomes of three species from the genus Ips (Coleoptera; Curculionidae), Ips grandicollis, Ips sexdentatus and Ips typographus were sequenced and analyzed. The three mitogenomes are 11,553-bp with 28 genes, 13,135-bp with 30 genes, and 13,502-bp with 30 genes, respectively. Their gene arrangements are consistent with that of Drosophila yakuba. The three Ips species shared the conserved overlapping sequence motif “ATGATAG” between ATP8 and ATP6, using TTG as start codon for ND1 genes and TAG as stop codon for ATP8 genes. All tRNA genes could fold into typical cloverleaf structures except for tRNASer1. Three tRNASer1 genes lack the DHU arm and instead formed the D-loop. The phylogenetic analyses indicate that Scolytinae is paraphyly and belongs to Curculionidae. The Eurasian I. sexdentatus is sister group to the North American I. grandicollis and the Eurasian I. typographus. The phylogeny of Ips based on COI genes indicates that Ips is paraphyly, Ips perroti and Orthotomicus suturalis are sister groups and Ips spinifer is grouped with (Orthotomicus chaokhao + Orthotomicus erosus).

      • Parametric design and modeling method of carbon fiber reinforcement plastic-laminated components applicable for multi-material vehicle body development

        Combined application of steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber reinforcement plastic (CFRP) is the main direction of future lightweight body development. However, the anisotropy and additional lamination design variables of CFRP parts pose significant challenges for the development of multi-material bodies. This study establishes a parametric design method for the variable-thickness lamination scheme based on non-uniform rational B-splines, it can be coupled with existing parametric design methods for structural shapes to formulate a complete parametric design and modeling of CFRP components. On this basis, a homogenized intermediate material property is derived from classic laminate theory by introducing lamination assumptions, it enables a stepwise multi-material body optimization method to solve the challenge that components’ material design variables switching between CFRP and alloy will introduce/eliminate lamination design variables iteratively, posing a great optimization convergence difficulty. The proposed parametric modeling method for CFRP components was validated by experimental tests of a fabricated roof beam, and the proposed optimization method was applied to a vehicle body, achieving 15.9%, 23.9%, 18.6%, and 12.2% increase in bending and torsional stiffness and modal frequencies; 20.2%, 9.3%, and 12.7% reduction of weight and peak acceleration in frontal and side collisions. This study enables the forward design of multi-material bodies compatible with CFRP parts.

      • A Novel Approach to Cloning and Expression of Human Thymidylate Synthase

        Thymidylate synthase (TS) catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from methylenetetrahydrofolate to dUMP to form dTMP. It is a primary target in the chemotherapy of colorectal cancers and some other neoplasms. In order to obtain pure protein for analysis of structure and biological function, an expression vector TS-pET28b (+) was constructed by inserting wild-type human thymidylate synthase (hTS) cDNA into pET28b (+). Then an expression strain was selected after transformation of the recombined plasmid into Rosetta (DE3). Fusion protein with His-tag was efficiently expressed in the form of inclusion bodies after IPTG induction and the content was approximately 40.0% of total bacteria proteins after optimizing expression conditions. When inclusion bodies were washed, dissolved and purified by Ni-NTA under denatured conditions, the purity was up to 90%. On SDS-PAGE and West-blotting, the protein band was found to match well with the predicted relative molecular mass-36kDa. Bioactivity was 0.1 U/mg. The results indicated that high-level expression of wild-type hTS cDNA can be achieved in prokaryotes with our novel method, facilitating research into related chemotherapy.

        NiCoSe4@CFF with excellent properties prepared by microwave method for flexible supercapacitors and oxygen evolution reaction

        NiCoSe4 nanoflowers were synthesized on carbon fiber felt (CFF) by microwave method, and the effects ofmicrowave time and microwave power on the morphology, physical phase and performance ofNiCoSe4@CFF were explored. The results display that the nanostructured NiCoSe4 prepared under themicrowave irradiation of 1000 W for 120 s is uniformly loaded on the CFF. The NiCoSe4@CFF electrodeexhibits a superior specific capacity of 1653.6F g1 at 1A/g and maintains a superior cycling performanceof 87.05 % of the initial capacitance over 150,000 cycles. In addition, the flexible supercapacitor fabricatedwith NiCoSe4@CFF as the cathode exhibits excellent flexibility and flexural strength. As an effective catalystfor oxygen evolution reaction (OER), NiCoSe4@CFF demonstrates a low overpotential of 0.358 V, arelatively small Tafel slope of 115.93 mV dec1 and an excellent lifetime at 10 mA cm2.

        A method of determining optimum sections suitable for the simultaneous extraction of coalbed methane from 3# and 15# coal seams in the Wangcun-Xiadian Block and its application

        In addition to reservoir geological factors, economic benefits are another important factor that determines the feasibility of co-layer drainage. In view of this, this paper takes the 3# and 15# coal seams in the Wangcun-Xiadian block of the Qinshui Basin (Shanxi Province, China) as the research object, adopts the step-by-step method to summarize the geological influencing factors and thresholds of the drainage of the total combined seam, and eliminates the unsuitable geological conditions blocks for layer development. Using the productivity numerical simulation software combined with the constructed economic evaluation model, the suitable blocks for co-production in this zone were identified. The one-sidedness of the evaluation results caused by only considering the geological reservoir conditions is avoided, and the practicability of the evaluation results is guaranteed. The results indicate that the difference of formation liquid supply capacity between the two layers of coal is the key factor affecting combined layer drainage. When the gas content of 3# coal seam is 8,15m3/t and the post-fracturing permeability exceeds 5.17 × 10−3μm2 and 1.13 × 10−3μm2 respectively, it is suitable for single development of 3# coal seam. When the geological conditions for commingled production are met, it is suitable for simultaneous development of 3# and 15# when the permeability after fracturing exceeds 6.27 × 10−3μm2 and 1.31 × 10−3μm2 respectively under the same gas content. The study methodology considers both geological reservoirs and economic benefits, which can more objectively and accurately evaluate the suitable development blocks.

        This study explores the differences of narcissistic customer financial investment in the bank's risk propensity and decision-making satisfaction. Studies have shown that overt narcissism customers have the higher degree of risk propensity. Investment professionals in overt narcissism and risk propensity between positive regulation effect is obvious, and overt narcissism and the degree of satisfaction with decision making is related; covert narcissism customer and risk propensity and decision-making satisfaction relationship is not significant and investment professionals in covert narcissism and risk propensity among regulatory role is not obvious. Covert narcissism and overt narcissism tendency and differences in risk decision satisfaction provide new ideas for the design and marketing of financial products.

        Numerical simulation and experimental validation for investigating the novel hydraulicbarrier-hydrocyclone in industrial beneficiation process

        In the face of the dwindling reserves of high-quality phosphate rock resources in the world, beneficiationand purification of low-grade phosphate ore is a possible solution to alleviate the growing scarcity forstrategic phosphorus resources. Hydrocyclone is one of the common equipment for solid–solid separationin liquid medium, which is suitable for mineral beneficiation processing. The study investigated theindustrial beneficiation of low-grade phosphate ore by novel hydraulicbarrier-hydrocyclone. The resultsfrom computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation revealed that Semi-through hydraulicbarrier (S-Hb)hydrocyclone had the optimal performance, making short-circuit flow reduced to 7.17% and eliminatingfish hook effect, so that the classification efficiency increased by 5% and separation sharpness reached0.9516. The reasons leading to performance intensification were elaborated in accordance with the optimizationand integration of hydrodynamics multiphase flow field by hydraulicbarrier, including the pressure,velocity, turbulent kinetic energy distribution and air core development, as well as streamlineanalysis, etc. The results from practical industrial experiment indicated that the P2O5 grade was increasedto 23.6wt.% from an initial grade of 17.5wt.%, meeting the medium-grade phosphate ore specifications,and the SiO2 content was decreased from 29.0wt.% to 4.2wt.%, meanwhile, the proportional error was0.74% about cutting size compared to simulation results, indicating excellent consistency. The investigationoffered an economically viable route to beneficiate the low-grade phosphate ore, cogently supportingsustainable development of phosphorus resources in chemical engineering.

        Oviposition preference and offspring performance of Apoderus dimidiatus (Coleoptera: Atelabidae) between Rosa multiflora and Rubus ichangensis

        Leaf-rolling weevils (Coleoptera: Atelabidae) are considered to be specialists that oviposit only on one or two plant species. However, Apoderus dimidiatus can oviposit on at least five species. We aimed to determine whether A. dimidiatus females have different preferences for oviposition substrates, and whether differences in physical factors, nutrition and parasitism affected their choices. We observed the number of cradles, hatched larvae, pupae, emerging adults and parasitism rate during one breeding season. Weevils were given access to two host plant species, Rosa multiflora and Rubus ichangensis, and the leaf size and nutrient contents of the two plant species were investigated. We found that nutritional content, especially soluble carbohydrate, correlated with oviposition preference of weevils, and the more nutritious plant species, R. multiflora, was the preferred host in our experiment. Weevils can also use Ru. ichangensis and other plant species as hosts, likely to relieve the high parasitic pressure when laying eggs on a single host species.

        Comparison of Liver Transplantation and Liver Resection for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients with Portal Vein Tumor Thrombus Type I and Type II

        Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of liver transplantation (LT) and liver resection (LR) for hepatocellularcarcinoma (HCC) patients with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) and to investigate risk factors affecting prognosis. Materials and Methods: A total of 94 HCC patients with PVTT type I (segmental PVTT) and PVTT type II (lobar PVTT) were involvedand divided into LR (n=47) and LT groups (n=47). Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were comparedbefore and after inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW). Prognostic factors for RFS and OS were explored. Results: Two treatment groups were well-balanced using IPTW. In the entire cohort, LT provided a better prognosis than LR. Among patients with PVTT type I, RFS was better with LT (p=0.039); OS was not different significantly between LT and LR(p=0.093). In subgroup analysis of PVTT type I patients with α-fetoprotein (AFP) levels >200 ng/mL, LT elicited significantly longermedian RFS (18.0 months vs. 2.1 months, p=0.022) and relatively longer median OS time (23.6 months vs. 9.8 months, p=0.065). Among patients with PVTT type II, no significant differences in RFS and OS were found between LT and LR (p=0.115 and 0.335,respectively). Multivariate analyses showed treatment allocation (LR), tumor size (>5 cm), AFP and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) levels to be risk factors of RFS and treatment allocation (LR), AFP and AST as risk factors for OS. Conclusion: LT appeared to afford a better prognosis for HCC with PVTT type I than LR, especially in patients with AFP levels>200 ng/mL.
