      • Influence of Camera Location on the Accuracy of Visual Estimation of Body Segment

        Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of camera location on the accuracy of visual estimation (VE) of body segments. Background: Various ergonomic methods have been used to investigate the work-related musculoskeletal disorder factors. The VE method is regard as valid and reliable comparing to the self-report and direct method. The previous VE study is limited by choosing the observational direction. Method: Eight body segments at fullrange of motion (ROM) were presented by a volunteer, the ROMs at each 10º were measured by goniometer and captured from 5 camera locations. Thirty observers visually estimated the segment angles displayed on the digital images. The average absolute error respect to the goniometric measurement was calculated to assess the VE accuracy. Results: For the whole body, the camera location significantly (P<0.0001) affected the VE accuracy, the 135 and 90 degree camera location exposed the lowest error. Hand estimation and foot estimation showed the highest (14.0±11.7º) and lowest (9.0±8.0º) estimation error. Conclusion: The 135 degree camera location is the optimal direction to capture and visually estimate body postures in the laboratory. Application: This study would contribute to the direction determination when applying VE in the field, furthermore to provide the correlated data to assess the bias in epidemiological studies.

      • Design of Single-Feed Multi-Beam Reflectarray Using Iterative Fourier Techniques

        Reflectarray antenna with multiple simultaneous beams is a promising antenna candidate for the multiple beam applications. A comprehensive and systematic study on the design of single-feed multi-beam reflectarray antenna is presented in this paper. The traditional direct design method, called aperture field superposition method, is investigated first. It is demonstrated that although this method can generate a multi-beam pattern, it cannot provide satisfactory performances, mainly because of high side lobe level, gain loss and beam deviation. The iterative Fourier technique is then applied to optimize the performances of the multi-beam reflectarray antenna. The required mask and cost function for multi-beam design and the flow of the iterative Fourier techniques are represented. Finally, a Ku-band four beam reflectarray with a single feed is designed using the iterative Fourier techniques and the radiation performances are analyzed and compared with that of single beam, as reference case, and multiple beam designed by aperture field superposition. The numerical results show that a good four beam performance can be obtained by using the iterative Fourier techniques, which suggests that the iterative Fourier technique is suitable for the design of the multi-beam reflectarray antenna with a single-feed.

        Kinetic Models of Controllable Pore Growth of Anodic Aluminum Oxide Membrane

        An anodized Al2O3 (AAO) membrane with apertures about 72 nm in diameter was prepared by two-step anodic oxidation. The appearance and pore arrangement of the AAO membrane were characterized by energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. It was confirmed that the pores with high pore aspect ratio were parallel, well-ordered, and uniform. The kinetics of pores growth in the AAO membrane was derived, and the kinetic models showed that pores stopped developing when the pressure (σ) trended to equal the surface tension at the end of anodic oxidation. During pore expansion,the effects of the oxalic acid concentration and expansion time on the pore size were investigated, and the kinetic behaviors were explained with two kinetic models derived in this study. They showed that the pore size increased with extended time (r=G·t+G’), but decreased with increased concentration (r=−K·lnc -K’)through the derived mathematic formula. Also, the values of G, G’,K, and K’ were derived from our experimental data.

      • Phase-Only Optimization of Asymmetric Multiple Beams Reflectarray with Single Feed Using the Invasive Weed Optimization

        Phase-only optimization of asymmetric multiple beams reflectarray with single feed is investigated in this paper. The conventional design approaches are first reviewed. Secondly, for design of asymmetric multiple beams reflectarray with arbitrary gain levels and beam directions, a general method based on invasive weed optimization is proposed. Then, practical considerations for applying the proposed method to design multiple beams reflectarray are talked over. For illustrating the effectiveness of the proposed method, several multiple beams design cases with different design requirements are optimized through this method, and the optimized results are analyzed through simulation approach based on array theory. The simulation results show that the optimized cases demonstrate the satisfactory multiple beams performance.

        Amentoflavone protects the hematopoietic system of mice against γ‑irradiation

        Some flavonoids have been shown to exhibitgood antioxidant activity and protect mice from damageinduced by radiation. Amentoflavone (AMF), a biflavonoidderived from the traditional herb-Selaginella tamariscina,has been reported to have antioxidant properties. The protectiveeffects and mechanism of action of AMF against radiationinjury remain unknown. In this study, male C57BL/6mice were subjected to total-body 60Co γ-irradiation at 7.5or 3.0 Gy. The survival rate and mean survival time wereevaluated to determine the radioprotective effect of AMF. Number of peripheral blood cells, frequency of colony formingunit-granulocytes, monocytes and micronuclei weremeasured to assess the protective effects of AMF on thehematopoietic system. Levels of superoxide dismutase andglutathione, and pathological changes in the bone marrowwere determined. Additionally, next-generation sequencingtechnology was used to explore potential targets of AMF. Weobserved that AMF markedly extends average survival time,reduces injury to the hematopoietic system and promotes itsrecovery. Furthermore, treatment with AMF significantlyattenuated radiation-induced oxidative stress. In addition,AMF had a significant effect on gene tumor necrosis factor alpha-induced protein 2. Together, the results of this studysuggest that AMF is a potential protective agent againstradiation injury.

        Protective effects of phillyrin against influenza A virus in vivo

        Influenza A virus infection represents a great threat to public health. However, owing to side effects and the emergence of resistant virus strains, the use of currently available anti-influenza drugs may be limited. In order to identify novel anti-influenza drugs, we investigated the antiviral effects of phillyrin against influenza A virus infection in vivo. The mean survival time, lung index, viral titers, influenza hemagglutinin (HA) protein and serum cytokines levels, and histopathological changes in lung tissue were examined. Administration of phillyrin at a dose of 20 mg/kg/day for 3 days significantly prolonged the mean survival time, reduced the lung index, decreased the virus titers and interleukin-6 levels, reduced the expression of HA, and attenuated lung tissue damage in mice infected with influenza A virus. Taken together, these data showed that phillyrin had potential protective effects against infection caused by influenza A virus.

      • A Data Cleaning Model for Electric Power Big Data Based on Spark Framework

        The data cleaning of electrical power big data can improve the correctness, the completeness, the consistency and the reliability of the data. Aiming at the difficulties of the extracting of the unified anomaly detection pattern and the low accuracy and continuity of the anomaly data correction in the process of the electrical power big data cleaning, the data cleaning model of the electrical power big data based on Spark is proposed. Firstly, the normal clusters and the corresponding boundary samples are obtained by the improved CURE clustering algorithm. Then, the anomaly data identification algorithm based on boundary samples is designed. Finally, the anomaly data modification is realized by using exponential weighting moving mean value. The high efficiency and accuracy is proved by the experiment of the data cleaning of the wind power generation monitoring data from the wind power station.

        Water-assisted femtosecond laser ablation for fabricating three-dimensional microfluidic chips

        When the femtosecond laser focused in the water, the breakdown will be induced. The generated highspeed jet and shock wave can be used to etch silica glass for fabricating three-dimensional (3D)microfluidic chips. We present a simple and practical method to produce 3D multilayer microfluidic chips in silica glass. This method offers high design flexibility and fabricating feasibility. We also introduce a convenient cleaning method for diluting and ejecting the ablated debris from microchannel. Therefore, the femtosecond laser induced high-speed jet and shock wave can be used to fabricate complex microfluidic chips in silica glass. Experimental results show that the diameter of microchannel is uniform and the complexity of the microfluidic chip is under control. As a proof of principle, we demonstrate the feasibility of the fabricating process by using the water-assisted femtosecond laser ablation.
