Ileoileal Intussusception with Intestinal Cryptosporidiosis in a Puppy

A 2-month-old intact female Labrador Retriever, weighing 3.6kg, was presented with the primary complaint of severe hemorrhagic diarrhea with hypoalbuminemia, anorexia and weight loss. Abdominal ultrasound revealed intussusception. Despite correction of ileoileal intussusception through emergency surgery, intravenous infusion of albumin and peripheral parentheral nutrition (PPN) therapy, the patient’s condition gradually deteriorated and the dog died 2 days after surgery. The fecal sample was obtained during the operation and revealed that the patient was Cryptosporidium spp positive by Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) analysis. Finally, the patient was diagnosed with ileoileal intussusception with intestinal cryptosporidiosis. This report describes the rare case of canine ileoileal intussusception concurrent with cryptosporidisosis. Despite aggressive treatment, the dog died of severe clinical symptoms, and a correlation between the two disease is strongly suspected. In addition, cryptosporidiosis is a common protozoan infectious disease that causes environmental pollution, especially infection through food or water, and in this case, the diagnosis in young dogs suggests that it can spread to humans. This could be a hazard to public health issue.
Cystatin C for managing diuretic-induced kidney dysfunction in MMVD dogs

Cystatin C, a low-molecular-weight protein synthesized by cells, is being explored as a valuable biomarker for assessing renal function in veterinary medicine. Although the relationship between cystatin C and heart disease remains unclear, some studies suggest a possible association. This retrospective case-control study aimed to investigate the role of cystatin C as a biomarker for heart disease and its correlation with diuretic use in veterinary clinical practice. A total of 39 dogs were included in this study, comprising 9 control dogs without a predisposition to heart disease and 30 dogs in the study group diagnosed with heart disease. Among the 30 dogs with heart disease, 18 exhibited symptoms indicative of heart failure. Results showed significantly higher cystatin C levels in the heart disease group compared to the control group (P<0.05). However, no significant differences were observed among different stages of heart disease severity in the control group. Furthermore, cystatin-C showed statistically positive correlations with BUN (r =0.478, P<0.01), creatinine (r =0.506, P<0.01), and furosemide (r =0.338, P<0.05). Diuretics are essential for managing congestive heart failure, and the observed associations between cystatin C and furosemide suggest potential impacts of diuretic use on renal function in dogs with heart failure. Monitoring renal function markers, such as cystatin C, can aid in predicting and managing potential renal complications, ultimately improving the overall health and quality of life of dogs with heart disease.
Cerebellar encephalopathy from diminazene aceturate (beneril) toxicity in a dog

A 2-year old castrated male Alaskan malamute was referred with primary complaints of marked anemia, hemeglobinuria and depression. Laboratory tests revealed canine babesiois with severe anemia. The dog was treated by blood transfusion and beneril (diminazene aceturate, 3.5 mg/kg IM). Two days after Beneril injection, the dog suddenly showed ataxia progressing to paresis. MRI revealed irregularly diffused lesions in the cerebellum. The case was tentatively diagnosed as cerebellar encephalopathy caused by diminazene toxicity. The dog successfully recovered following steroid therapy.

PM number regulations have been started from Euro-5b as well as aggressive environment regulation on vehicle emission. Therefore, It’s hard to meet both strict NOx emission and Particle Number in Euro-6 regulation. Moreover, exhaust gas temperature has been gradually decline to consider fuel efficiency engine in light duty diesel vehicle. Present DOC+DPF+SCR system will be difficult to comply with Euro-6 NOx emission on account of lower SCR inlet temperature. The temperature problems can potentially be solved by integrating the coated SCR into the DPF’s wall as one multifunctional catalysts. Basically, SCRoF has the role of Soot Filtering and NOx reduction as well as lower pressure drop. SCRoF has many advantages as follows .1.Low cost of total aftertreatment system with component reduction. 2.Improved cold start NOx reduction performance. This study focus on optimization of catalysts loading and process getting better NOx performance and Filtering rate. Vehicle test results satisfy the NOx emission and Particle Number regulation for Euro-6.
세포 계수 측정을 위한 딥러닝 기반 객체 탐지 시스템 연구 개발

본 논문에서는 세포 계수 기술을 활용하여 세포 배양액 사진 속에 있는 세포의 계수 및 Viability를 알려주는 모바일 애플리케이션 서비스를 제안한다. 세포 배양액 사진을 업로드 하면, YOLO-R 모델을 통해 세포 배양액의 영상 속 객체를 탐지하고 그 결과로 Total Cell, Live Cell, Dead Cell, Cell Viability의 정보를 추출하여 세포 계수 정보를 사용자에게 빠르게 제공할 수 있다. In this paper, we propose a mobile application service that utilizes cell counting techniques to inform the coefficient and viability of cells in a photograph of a cell culture. Uploading a photograph of a cell culture fluid allows the YOLO-R model to detect objects in the image of the cell culture and extract information from Total Cell, Live Cell, Dead Cell, and Cell Visibility as a result to quickly provide cell coefficient information to the user.
Photoaging protective effects of BIOGF1K, a compound-K-rich fraction prepared from Panax ginseng

Background: BIOGF1K, a compound-K-rich fraction, has been shown to display anti-inflammatory activity. Although Panax ginseng is widely used for the prevention of photoaging events induced by UVB irradiation, the effect of BIOGF1K on photoaging has not yet been examined. In this study, we investigated the effects of BIOGF1K on UVB-induced photoaging events. Methods: We analyzed the ability of BIOGF1K to prevent UVB-induced apoptosis, enhance matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression, upregulate anti-inflammatory activity, reduce sirtuin 1 expression, and melanin production using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, melanin content assay, tyrosinase assay, and flow cytometry. We also evaluated the effects of BIOGF1K on the activator protein-1 signaling pathway, which plays an important role in photoaging, by immunoblot analysis and luciferase reporter gene assays. Results: Treatment of UVB-irradiated NIH3T3 fibroblasts with BIOGF1K prevented UVB-induced cell death, inhibited apoptosis, suppressed morphological changes, reduced melanin secretion, restored the levels of type I procollagen and sirtuin 1, and prevented mRNA upregulation of MMP-1, MMP-2, and cyclo-oxygenase-2; these effects all occurred in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, BIOGF1K markedly reduced activator-protein-1-mediated luciferase activity and decreased the activity of mitogen-activated protein kinases (extracellular response kinase, p38, and C-Jun N-terminal kinase). Conclusion: Our results strongly suggest that BIOGF1K has anti-photoaging activity and that BIOGF1K could be used in anti-aging cosmeceutical preparations.

V2O5 catalysts were major urea-SCR catalysts previously, but zeolite catalysts have also been considered in order to meet more stringent emission regulations. V2O5 catalysts have higher resistance to sulfur compounds which were originated from diesel fuel and engine oil, but show lower thermal durability and earlier NH3 slip compared to zeolites due to their lower NH3 storage capacity at transient driving conditions repeating rapid accelerations and decelerations. Zeolites have larger NH3 storage capacity, better deNOx activity at low temperature and higher thermal durability, but lower sulfur durability compared with V2O5 catalysts. In this study, we considered new catalyst concept by combination of V2O5 catalysts and zeolites in order to take advantages of V2O5 catalyst and zeolite, so we could develop new SCR catalyst via optimization of washcoat architecture and loading. We confirmed this catalyst showed better NH3 storage compared with V2O5 catalyst at transient conditions and better sulfur durability compared with zeolites by several rig and engine tests.
