Performance Study of genus 3 Hyperelliptic Curve Cryptosystem

Hyperelliptic Curve Cryptosystem (HECC) is well suited for all kinds of embedded processor architectures, where resources such as storage, time, or power are constrained due to short operand sizes, We can construct genus 3 HECC on 54-bit finite fields in order to achieve the same security level as 160-bit ECC or 1024-bit RSA due to the algebraic structure of Hyperelliptic Curve. This paper explores various possible attacks to the discrete logarithm in the Jacobian of a Hyperelliptic Curve (HEC) and addition and doubling of the divisor using explicit formula to speed up the scalar multiplication. Our aim is to develop a cryptosystem that can sign and authenticate documents and encrypt / decrypt messages efficiently for constrained devices in wireless networks. The performance of our proposed cryptosystem is comparable with that of ECC and the security analysis shows that it can resist the major attacks in wireless networks.

Vibrations of long repetitive structures by a double scale asymptotic method

In this paper, an asymptotic two-scale method is developed for solving vibration problem of long periodic structures. Such eigenmodes appear as a slow modulations of a periodic one. For those, the present method splits the vibration problem into two small problems at each order. The first one is a periodic problem and is posed on a few basic cells. The second is an amplitude equation to be satisfied by the envelope of the eigenmode. In this way, one can avoid the discretisation of the whole structure. Applying the Floquet method, the boundary conditions of the global problem are determined for any order of the asymptotic expansions.

Iron oxide is a representative pigment used globally, with a usage of 300,000 to 400,000 tons. Iron oxide can be subdivided based on composition and structure, with Fe2O3 displaying a red color. Nanotechnology involves nano-sizing particles to increase surface area, thereby enhancing adhesion and durability. The application of nanotechnology in the textile industry is believed to enable high-value fabric manufacturing. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the dyeing characteristics of fabric with Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> nano-solution and its functionality.

Approximate fixed point property problem for Mann itera- tion sequence of a nonexpansive mapping has been resolved on a Banach space independent of uniform (strict) convexity by Ishikawa [Fixed points and iteration of a nonexpansive mapping in a Banach space, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 59 (1976), 65–71]. In this paper, we solve this problem for a class of mappings wider than the class of asymptotically nonexpan- sive mappings on an arbitrary normed space. Our results generalize and extend several known results.

Objective: Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) has been widely used for guiding prostate implants, but not much for interstitial brachytherapy (IBT) of cervix cancer. The aim of our study is to report our experience with TRUS guided high dose rate (HDR) IBT in patients with carcinoma of uterine cervix. Methods: During the year 2005-2006, 25 patients of cervical cancer not suitable for intracavitary radiotherapy (ICRT),were enrolled in this prospective study. We used B-K Medical USG machine (Falcon 2101) equipped with a TRUS probe (8658) having a transducer of 7.5 MHz for IBT. Post procedure, a CT scan was done for verification of needle position and treatment planning. Two weekly sessions of HDR IBT of 8-10 Gy each were given after pelvic external beam radiation therapy. Results: A total of 40 IBT procedures were performed in 25 patients. Average duration of implant procedure was 50minutes. There was no uterine perforation in any of 11 patients in whom central tandem was used. CT scan did not show needle perforation of bladder/rectum in any of the patients. During perioperative period, only 1 procedure (2.5%) was associated with hematuria which stopped within 6 hours. Severe late toxicity was observed in 3 (12%)patients. Overall pelvic control rate was 64%. Conclusion: Our experience suggests that TRUS is a practical and effective imaging device for guiding the IBT procedure of cervical cancer patients. It helps in accurate placements of needles thus avoiding the injury to normal pelvic structures.

We previously reported the in vitro and in vivohepatoprotective and anti-fibrotic effects of PF2401-SF, astandardized fraction of Salvia miltiorrhiza, against acuteand subacute liver injury. The aim of this study was toinvestigate the effect of PF2401-SF on liver fibrosisinduced by thioacetamide (TAA), a chronic liver injurymodel (12 weeks) that closely resembles fibrosis and cirrhosisin humans. Hepatoprotective activity was indicatedby low serum levels of the markers aspartate aminotransferase and alanine amino transferase .In addition,compared to the TAA-group livers, the PF2401-SF-treatedliver tissues showed no fibrous tissue deposition in theportal areas, hepatocyte morphology more closely resemblingnormal tissue morphology, and significantly reducedcollagen deposition. Furthermore, downregulation of collagen1(a) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase(TIMP)1 protein and mRNA expression also supportsPF2401-SF’s anti-fibrotic effect. We also observed reducedexpression of a-smooth muscle actin (a-SMA), an importantmarker of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) activation. From these results, we conclude that PF2401-SF’s antifibroticmechanism in the TAA model involves reducedHSC activation, and may be mediated by downregulationof central markers of fibrosis, including collagen 1(a),TIMP1, and a-SMA.

Body size in insects is coupled with numerous physiological, life-history and ecological traits. Its variation along temperature gradient is widely studied. However, information regarding variations in body size of insects along altitudinal gradient is limited. Present study was designed considering hypothesis that there would be an increase in body size of Parthenium beetle, Zygogramma bicolorata Pallister (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) with increasing altitude and decreasing in temperature. To achieve the objectives, beetles were collected from three eco-climatic zones of NEPAL [Kathmandu (1400 mts, 24 °C; warm temperate zone), Chitwan (415 mts, 25 °C; upper tropical/sub-tropical zone), and Mahendranagar (229 mts, 34 °C; humid subtropical zone)], and one of INDIA [Varanasi (81 mts, 36 °C; humid subtropical zone)] for their morphometric analysis (body length and body biomass). Results revealed that the size of beetles in all eco-climatic zones increased with increasing altitude and decreasing temperature. While adults of Kathmandu were largest, followed by Chitwan and Mahendranagar, but those of Varanasi were smallest in size. The sex ratio was female-biased in Kathmandu and Varanasi, but was male-biased in Chitwan and Mahendranagar. Irrespective of temperature and altitude, females were larger than males in all eco-climatic zones. Our results affirmed our hypothesis and were in compliance with Bergmann’s rule. The findings may be helpful in understanding phenotypic plasticity and distribution pattern of Z. bicolorata adults in Indian sub-continent under global climate change scenario.
