Colloid miliurn consists of yellowish translucent papules or plecques on the light-exposed skin. Histologically, colloid milium shows sharply circumscribed masses of a fissured, homogeneous, faintly eosinophilic material !n the upper third of the dermis. The authors present three elderly female patients of colloid milium who had yellowish translucent papules on the face and dorsum of the hands. The incidence of the disorder may be heigher than has been suspected.

Recently construction enterprises involves more occurred with increase of size and complxity of construction works. Risk management is one of the key project management process. Numerous tools are available to support the various phases of the risk management process. We present the results of a study designed to identify the tools that are most widely used and those that are associated with successful project management in general, and with effective project risk management in particular. The study is based on a questionnaire administered to a sample of project managers from construction enterprises. The response data was analyzed in order to find which tools are more likely to be used in the those organizations that report better project management performance and in those that value the contribution of risk management processes.
Ulmus Macrocarpa Water Extract Prolongs Splenocyte Life Span

Ulmus macrocarpa 자양강장 및 생리활성 물질로 이용되어 왔다. U, macrocarpa 열수 추출물(UMWE)이 일반적인 세포배양 조건에서 비장세포 수명연장에 미치는 효과에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 100 μg/ml UMWE를 비장세포에 처리하여 실험을 진행하였다. 살아있는 세포확인은 Hoechst 33342 염색법과 세포생존관련 인자의 변화는 Western blot으로 확인하였다. 사이토카인 변화는 ELISA로 검증하였다. UMWE는 비장세포에 대하여 향상된 세포 생존력을 보였다. UMWE를 48시간과 96시간째 처리된 비장세포의 PI3K 및 ERK1/2의 인산화를 증가시켰다. 더욱이, 48시간과 96시간때에 Bcl-2의 발현량도 증가하였다. 반면, UMWE는 48시간과 96시간에 caspase-3의 활성이 줄어들었다. ICAD 단백질은 48시간에 증가하였다. UMWE는 조혈 및 세포생존력에 영향을 미치는 IL-2 cytokine량은 줄었지만 반면, IL-4 hematopoietin cytokine의 양은 증가하였다. UMWE는 48시간과 96시간에 증가된 IFN-γ level을 나타내었고 IL-12의 경우는 증가패턴을 보이는 효과를 발휘하였다. 이러한 결과는 UMWE가 다양한 신호전달 및 사이토카인 조절을 통해 비장세포 수명연장을 할 수 있다는 것으로 사료된다. Ulmus macrocarpa has been used in Korean medicinal food material to physical disorder or tonic material. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate splenocyte life span expansion effects of Ulmus macrocarpa water extract (UMWE) in general cell culture condition. Splenocytes were handled in the presence of 100 μg/ml UMWE for several different time conditions. Live cells were detected with Hoechst 33,342 dye and cell survival molecules were identified through Western blot. Changes in level of cytokine synthesis were evaluated by ELISA. UMWE showed an effect on increased splenocyte survival. UMWE elevated slightly PI3K phosphorylation and ERK1/2 phosphorylation used at 48 hr and 96 hr. Moreover, Bcl-2 was elevated at 48 hr and 96 hr in UMWE-treated splenocytes. UMWE decreased caspase-3 level at 48 hr and 96 hr. ICAD protein increased at 48 hr culturing time. Hematopoietin IL-2 cytokine was down-regulated, however IL-4 hematopoietin cytokine was up-regulated in UMWE treated cell culture media. Increased IFN-γ levels were verified in the supernatant of UMWEtreated cells in all periods (48 hr and 96 hr). Increased patterns in the production of IL-12 cytokine occurred as compared with control after 48 and 96 hr in UMWE-treated-cell cultures. These results suggested that UMWE can prolong splenocyte life span by controlling various signal factors and cytokines.
Mechanical properties of polyurethane/montmorillonite nanocomposite prepared by melt mixing

<P>Nanocomposites from polyurethane (PU) and montmorillonite (MMT) were prepared under melt-mixing condition, by a twin screw extruder along with a compatibilizer to enhance dispersion of MMT. MMT used in this study was Cloisite 25A (modified with dimethyl hydrogenated tallow 2-ethylhexyl ammonium) or Cloisite 30B (modified with methyl tallow bis-2-hydroxyethyl ammonium). Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAPP) was used as the compatibilizer. XRD and TEM analysis demonstrated that melt mixing by a twin-screw extruder was effective in dispersing MMT through the PU matrix. The PU/Cloisite 30B composite exhibited better interlayer separation than the PU/Cloiste 25A composite. Nanoparticle dispersion was the best at 1 wt % of MMT and improved with compatibilizer content for both composites. Properties of the composites such as complex viscosity and storage modulus were higher than that of a pure PU matrix and increased with the increase in MMT content, but decreased with the increase in compatibilizer content. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 한국의 서비스 품질상 수상이 기업가치에 미치는 영향:사건연구방법론적 접근

This paper empirically investigates the impact of winning a service quality award on the market value in Korea. We estimates the mean “abnormal" change in the stock prices of sample firms when information of winning a service quality award was publicly announced. To access the validity of the research question, this paper employed collected 47 firms data that received the Korean Service Quality Awards so far. Event study methodology was used to analyze the effect of Korean service quality awards. The findings are as follows; The average abnormal returns on the event date are not significant at the 0.05 level which means that the receiving Korean Service Quality Awards has no influence on the firms' market value. On the other hand successive awarded firms have an increasing effect on the market value and it is significant at the 0.05 level. Furthermore, the results show that the factors of firm size such as firm's total assets are critical to vary the firms' abnormal returns. There might be some limitations in this study. The most obvious problem is the limitation of sample size. Although 518 sample cases were found during the period from 2000 to 2008, most of the cases were deleted according to the sample criteria. We are expecting the future research with more data and more precise results. Furthermore, our research consider the only two service award institutions even though there are several different service award authorities in Korea. It is needed to expand the research scope and range to adopt the various service award institutions for the future work.

A numerical approach is given to investigate the performance of tangentially pulverized coal furnace, with emphasis on temperature, velocity, NOx emission and species distribution. Tangentially pulverized coal furnace are widely used in power generation. Because it is useful to get the mixture of fuel and air. To achieve this purpose and obtain a reliable solution, we get the information in real coal power plant. The results shows reasonable between simulation results with design parameters and real power plant records. This paper shows that the conclusions of the combustion, emission, temperature, velocity are reliable. These conclusions can be used to guide the design and operation of boilers of similar types.
