정수진,진전성,이은주,이은실,강종성 忠南大學校 生命科學硏究院 醫藥品開發硏究所 2006 藥學論文集 Vol.21 No.-

Enantiomeric separation of naproxen is necessary in drug evaluation processes as the pharmacological activity of naproxen resides mainly in the (S)-enantiomer, The enantioseparation of naproxen was carried out with three different stationary phases. The methods were validated with the terms of linearity, intraday and interday precision, accuracy, selectivity and recovery. Among the selected stationary phases, ChiroSil DMB column with hexane : t-butylmethylether : acetic acid (60:40:0.1, v/v/v) as mobile phase showed the best enantioseparation of the naproxen in the commercial preparations. The wavelength for detection was 270 nm and flow rate was 2.0 mL/min. The contents of (S)-naproxen in the commercial preparations were 92.7 - 98.3%, indicating that all tested preparations were satisfactory to current regulation. However, the contents of (R)-naproxen as impurity in the commercial preparations were varied from 0.08% to 1.08%.

Prediction of the Duration to Next Admission for an Acute Affective Episode in Patients with Bipolar I Disorder

        Pao-Huan Chen(Pao-Huan Chen),Chun-Ming Shih(Chun-Ming Shih),Chi-Kang Chang(Chi-Kang Chang),Chia-Pei Lin(Chia-Pei Lin),Yung-Han Chang(Yung-Han Chang),Hsin-Chien Lee(Hsin-Chien Lee),El-Wui Loh(El-Wui Lo 대한정신약물학회 2023 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.21 No.2

Objective: Predicting disease relapse and early intervention could reduce symptom severity. We attempted to identify potential indicators that predict the duration to next admission for an acute affective episode in patients with bipolar I disorder. Methods: We mathematically defined the duration to next psychiatric admission and performed single-variate regressions using historical data of 101 patients with bipolar I disorder to screen for potential variables for further multivariate regressions. Results: Age of onset, total psychiatric admissions, length of lithium use, and carbamazepine use during the psychiatric hospitalization contributed to the next psychiatric admission duration positively. The all-in-one found that hyperlipidemia during the psychiatric hospitalization demonstrated a negative contribution to the duration to next psychiatric admission; the last duration to psychiatric admission, lithium and carbamazepine uses during the psychiatric hospitalization, and heart rate on the discharge day positively contributed to the duration to next admission. Conclusion: We identified essential variables that may predict the duration of bipolar I patients’ next psychiatric admission. The correlation of a faster heartbeat and a normal lipid profile in delaying the next onset highlights the importance of managing these parameters when treating bipolar I disorder.

      • Triple versus dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention.

        Chen, Kang-Yin,Rha, Seung-Woon,Li, Yong-Jian,Poddar, Kanhaiya L,Jin, Zhe,Minami, Yoshiyasu,Wang, Lin,Kim, Eung Ju,Park, Chang Gyu,Seo, Hong Seog,Oh, Dong Joo,Jeong, Myung Ho,Ahn, Young Keun,Hong, Taek American Heart Association, etc.] 2009 CIRCULATION - Vol.119 No.25

<P>BACKGROUND: Whether triple antiplatelet therapy is superior or similar to dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention in the era of drug-eluting stents remains unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 4203 ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stents were analyzed retrospectively in the Korean Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR). They received either dual (aspirin plus clopidogrel; dual group; n=2569) or triple (aspirin plus clopidogrel plus cilostazol; triple group; n=1634) antiplatelet therapy. The triple group received additional cilostazol at least for 1 month. Various major adverse cardiac events at 8 months were compared between these 2 groups. Compared with the dual group, the triple group had a similar incidence of major bleeding events but a significantly lower incidence of in-hospital mortality. Clinical outcomes at 8 months showed that the triple group had significantly lower incidences of cardiac death (adjusted odds ratio, 0.52; 95% confidence interval, 0.32 to 0.84; P=0.007), total death (adjusted odds ratio, 0.60; 95% confidence interval, 0.41 to 0.89; P=0.010), and total major adverse cardiac events (adjusted odds ratio, 0.74; 95% confidence interval, 0.58 to 0.95; P=0.019) than the dual group. Subgroup analysis showed that older (>65 years old), female, and diabetic patients got more benefits from triple antiplatelet therapy than their counterparts who received dual antiplatelet therapy. CONCLUSIONS: Triple antiplatelet therapy seems to be superior to dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stents. These results may provide the rationale for the use of triple antiplatelet therapy in these patients.</P>

The Pattern of Financing Industrialization in China: Understanding Sources of Fixed Investment

KANG CHEN,JANG-SUP SHIN 연세대학교 동서문제연구원 2011 Global economic review Vol.40 No.2

This paper explains a puzzling feature of China’s industrial financing, i.e., an extremely low share of domestic loans and an unusually high share of ‘self-raised funds and others’ in a developing country. After an overview of historical patterns of financial industrialization in other countries, it looks into the details of sources of industrial finance in China and suggests some explanations on the country’s unique pattern of financing industrialization based on data available. It also discusses implications to the future of China’s industrial financing

Peripheral arterial disease is associated with coronary artery spasm as assessed by an intracoronary acetylcholine provocation test

        Chen, Kang-Yin,Rha, Seung-Woon,Li, Yong-Jian,Poddar, Kanhaiya L,Jin, Zhe,Minami, Yoshiyasu,Wang, Lin,Li, Guang-Ping,Saito, Shigeru,Park, Jae-Hyoung,Na, Jin-Oh,Choi, Cheol Ung,Lim, Hong-Euy,Kim, Jin-Wo Blackwell Publishing Ltd 2009 Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology & Physiolog Vol.36 No.11

<P>Summary</P><P>1. Both peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and coronary artery spasm (CAS) are associated with endothelial dysfunction. Thus, a higher incidence of CAS may be expected in patients with PAD. In the present study, we evaluated the incidence and characteristics of CAS in patients with PAD.</P><P>2. A total of 78 patients with PAD and 241 age- and gender-matched patients without PAD who had chest pain with normal coronary appearance on coronary angiograms underwent intracoronary acetylcholine (ACh) provocation test. Acetylcholine was injected into the left coronary artery in incremental doses of 20, 50 and 100 &mgr;g/min. Significant CAS was defined as a transient > 70% luminal narrowing with concurrent chest pain and/or ST segment changes.</P><P>3. Patients with PAD had a significantly higher incidence of ACh-induced significant CAS than those without PAD (60.3 vs 34.0%, respectively <I>P</I> < 0.001), as well as chest pain and ST segment changes during the ACh provocation test. Patients with PAD were more sensitive to lower doses of ACh and had a higher incidence of multivessel spasm than those without PAD. Multivariable logistic analysis showed that age, current smoking, PAD and myocardial bridge were independent predictors of ACh-induced significant CAS. Moreover, of these factors, PAD was the strongest independent predictor (odds ratio 4.25; confidence interval 1.33–13.54; <I>P</I> = 0.014).</P><P>4. In patients with chest pain, the presence of arterial disease at another site should still push the clinician towards treating the chest pain as angina, even if the coronary anatomy is normal on a coronary angiogram.</P>

Ginsenoside Rb1 exerts neuroprotective effects through regulation of Lactobacillus helveticus abundance and GABAA receptor expression

        Chen, Huimin,Shen, Jiajia,Li, Haofeng,Zheng, Xiao,Kang, Dian,Xu, Yangfan,Chen, Chong,Guo, Huimin,Xie, Lin,Wang, Guangji,Liang, Yan The Korean Society of Ginseng 2020 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.44 No.1

Background: Ginsenoside Rb1 (Rb1), one of the most abundant protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides, exerts excellent neuroprotective effects even though it has low intracephalic exposure. Purpose: The present study aimed to elucidate the apparent contradiction between the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Rb1 by studying the mechanisms underlying neuroprotective effects of Rb1 based on regulation of microflora. Methods: A pseudo germ-free (PGF) rat model was established, and neuroprotective effects of Rb1 were compared between conventional and PGF rats. The relative abundances of common probiotics were quantified to reveal the authentic probiotics that dominate in the neuroprotection of Rb1. The expressions of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, including GABAA receptors (α2, β2, and γ2) and GABAB receptors (1b and 2), in the normal, ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), and I/R+Rb1 rat hippocampus and striatum were assessed to reveal the neuroprotective mechanism of Rb1. Results: The results showed that microbiota plays a key role in neuroprotection of Rb1. The relative abundance of Lactobacillus helveticus (Lac.H) increased 15.26 fold after pretreatment with Rb1. I/R surgery induced effects on infarct size, neurological deficit score, and proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α) were prevented by colonizing the rat gastrointestinal tract with Lac.H (1 × 109 CFU) by gavage 15 d before I/R surgery. Both Rb1 and Lac.H upregulated expression of GABA receptors in I/R rats. Coadministration of a GABAA receptor antagonist significantly attenuated neuroprotective effects of Rb1 and Lac.H. Conclusion: In sum, Rb1 exerts neuroprotective effects by regulating Lac.H and GABA receptors rather than through direct distribution to the target sites.

      • The Loss Calculation of RCD Snubber with Forward and Reverse Recovery Effects Considerations

        Chen Cai,Pei Xue-jun,Chen Yu,Kang Yong 전력전자학회 2011 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2011 No.5

This paper addresses the problem of turn-off and turn-on performances of a RCD snubber circuit in high power inverter that works with insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). The RCD snubber circuit turn-off and turn-on dynamics, forward and reverse recovery effects of the associated freewheeling and snubber diodes, and corresponding snubber losses are analyzed. Voltage impacts occur across the snubber resistor due to the snubber diode’s forward and reverse recovery effects, which bring in additional snubber losses. The turn-on current rising rates have two parts due to the anti-parallel free-wheeling diode (FWD) reverse recovery current that will influence the RCD loss. Moreover, the snubber has the same clamping effect as turn-off due to the anti-parallel FWD’s reverse recovery current. In addition, the proposed analysis was experimentally verified, the snubber loss are presented and discussed in the paper. Moreover, a well-designed temperature measurement is proposed to evaluate the loss.

      • Expression Profile Analysis of Zinc Transporters (ZIP4, ZIP9, ZIP11, ZnT9) in Gliomas and their Correlation with IDH1 Mutation Status

        Kang, Xing,Chen, Rong,Zhang, Jie,Li, Gang,Dai, Peng-Gao,Chen, Chao,Wang, Hui-Juan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8

Background: Zinc transporters have been considered as essential regulators in many cancers; however, their mechanisms remain unknown, especially in gliomas. Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1(IDH1) mutation is crucial to glioma. This study aimed to investigate whether zinc transporters are correlated with glioma grade and IDH1 mutation status. Materials and Methods: IDH1 mutation status and mRNA expression of four zinc transporters (ZIP4, ZIP9, ZIP11, and ZnT9) were determined by subjecting a panel of 74 glioma tissue samples to quantitative real-time PCR and pyrosequencing. The correlations between the expression levels of these zinc transporter genes and the grade of glioma, as well as IDH1 mutation status, were investigated. Results: Among the four zinc transporter genes, high ZIP4 expression and low ZIP11 expression were significantly associated with higher grade (grades III and IV) tumors compared with lower grade (grades I and II) counterparts (p<0.0001). However, only ZIP11 exhibited weak correlation with IDH1 mutation status (p=0.045). Samples with mutations in IDH1 displayed higher ZIP11 expression than those without IDH1 mutations. Conclusions: This finding indicated that zinc transporters may interact with IDH1 mutation by direct modulation or action in some shared pathways or genes to promote the development of glioma. Zinc transporters may play an important role in glioma. ZIP4 and ZIP11 are promising molecular diagnostic markers and novel therapeutic targets. Nevertheless, the detailed biological function of zinc transporters and the mechanism of the potential interaction between ZIP11 and IDH1 mutation in gliomagenesis should be further investigated.

Antioxidant Capacities and Cytostatic Effect of Korean Red Pepper (Capsicum annuum L): a Screening and in vitro Study

Chen, Lei,Hwang, Ji-Eun,Choi, Boram,Gu, Kang Mo,Park, Youmie,Kang, Young-Hwa The Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistr 2014 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.57 No.1

Methanol extracts from 100 Korean varieties of red pepper (Capsicum annuum L) were obtained. Chromatic parameters ($L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$) and total phenolic content were analyzed. By evaluation of total phenolic content and 2,2'-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging based-antioxidant associated with surface color measurement, red pepper varieties were classified into four groups by hierarchical cluster analysis. Cultivars of 'PR-Sangsaeng', 'PR-Jijon', 'PR-Eowoolrim', 'PR-Chambut', 'PAK37', and 'Hojanggoonbigalim" had high quantity of pigments and high phenolic content. These six cultivars also with higher levels of antioxidant might give an advantage to local growers in Korea. For further cytostatic activity evaluation, extracts from various parts including pericarp, seed, and stalk of cultivar 'PAK37' and 'Hojanggoonbigalim' were prepared. Four human cancer cells (HepG2, AGS, MCF-7, and HT-29) were used. The tumor cell growth inhibitory effect was evaluated by in vitro MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay. High capsaicin content and antioxidant activity-containing red pepper stalk extract showed the strongest cytostatic activity. Tumor cell growth inhibitory activity was positively correlated with the capsaicin content. The anticancer potentials of various red pepper parts were in the following order: stalk > seed > pericarp. The data suggest that red pepper parts might have a promising health benefit against liver cancer, colon cancer and gastric cancer more than breast cancer.
