The six kinds of natural factors(It refers to wind, cold, summer-heat, dampness, dryness and fire.) is constantly moving to maintain the balance of whole climate of one year. Four seasons are the largest mediation of whole climate of one year. The cold and the heat have the relationship of mutual intervention. The dampness and the dryness have it also. In this process they raise various climate appearance. And that various climate appearance influence the whole lives on the earth. This paper is concerned with the classification of them.

Using the concept of closed queueing network, we present a consistent way of interpreting existing duality relations among queueing systems. Also, using embedded Markov chains, we present a few new duality relations for the queueing systems with negative customers.

A coupled approach is proposed for the prediction of sheet profile in sheet casting process, which combines one-dimensional analytical method on planar elongational flow region and three-dimensional numerical method on the other region. The strategy is constructed from the observations that the flow domain of sheet casting process can be separated into two parts based old the flow kinematics. The flow field in the central region of sheet, over which the planar elongational flow dominates, is possibly replaced by one-dimensional analytical solution. Then only a partial flow domain near the edge region of sheet, where the flow kinematics cannot be described by the planar elongational flow itself, requires three-dimensional numerical simulation. Good agreement is observed between the coupled approach developed in this study and the full three-dimensional numerical simulation previously developed and reported by the authors. This coupled approach may have provided flexibility with low costs to accommodate a wide range of die sizes in sheet casting process.

c-Myc plays a decisive role in the proliferation of HL-60 promyelocytic leukemia cells. In the present study, we demonstrated that an inhibitor of c-Myc/Max/DNA complex formation has a high potentiality as a suppressor of c-Myc-involved cell signaling. We prepared recombinant c-Myc and Max proteins encompassing the human-origin DNA binding and dimerization domains, and tested a chemical library of 6480 small molecules for their inhibitory effect on the in vitro formation of the c-Myc/Max/DNA complex as well as their influence on DMSO-differentiated HL-60 cells. We found several hit compounds through in vitro and cell-based screening tests, and also confirmed these compounds significantly inhibited the formation of the recombinant c-Myc/Max/DNA complex in the low micromolar range. Indeed, these inhibitors effectively blocked c-Myc-associated gene expression in cancer cell line, suppressed the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of HL-60 promyelocytic leukemia cells via cell cycle arrest without altering the expression level of c-Myc in the DMSO-differentiated HL-60 cells. These successive results suggest that our c-Myc/Max/DNA complex inhibitors potently contribute to the suppression of the Myc-dependent proliferation of leukemia cells and to the induction of apoptosis. Accordingly, we would expect that these compounds could serve as lead compounds in the development of novel anticancer drugs.

Graphic Abstract

We demonstrated that an inhibitor of c-Myc/Max/DNA complex formation has a high potentiality as a suppressor of c-Myc-involved cell signaling.

안채경(Chae Kyung Ahn),한대석(Daeseok Han),이영경(Young-Kyung Rhee),이영철(Young-Chul Lee) 한국식품영양과학회 2005 한국식품영양과학회지 Vol.34 No.5
This study was performed to investigate the synergistic effects of catechin and ascorbic acid on antioxidative activities of methanol and hexane extracts (500 ppm) from rosemary, sage, oregano, and ginger. Ascorbic acid (200 ppm) and (-)-catechin (200 ppm) could be solubilized in a rice bran oil via a reverse micelles using small amount of water and dioctyl sulfosuccinate as the surfactant. Methanol extracts from rosemary, sage, oregano, and ginger showed the synergistic effects by (-)-catechin. However, methanol extracts showed the synergistic effect by ascorbic acid except that of ginger. The synergistic effects of (-)-catechin on methanol extracts were higher than those of ascorbic acid. Hexane extracts of oregano and ginger showed the synergistic effects by (-)-catechin, and no synergistic effects by ascorbic acid. On the other hand, rosemary and sage showed the synergistic effects by ascorbic acid and no synergistic effects by (-)-catechin.

The aim of this study was to explore the ability of F-18-fluoroestradiol (F-18-FES) PET/CT imaging to predict pathologic response to neo-adjuvant therapy in postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor (ER)-rich breast cancer. Methods: This was a prospective, single center study conducted as a substudy of the neoadjuvant study of chemotherapy versus endocrine therapy in postmenopausal patients with primary breast cancer (NEOCENT) trial. Patients with ER -rich breast cancer were randomized to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NC) or neoadjuvant endocrine therapy (NET). The baseline SUVmax of F-18-FES PET/CT was measured. The pathologic response was assessed by the Miller-Payne system as nonresponse (grades 1 and 2) and response (grades 3-5). Results: Twenty-six patients were enrolled, with pathologic response achieved in 25 (NC, 12; NET, 13). Two patients achieved pathologic complete response after NC, but the remaining 23 patients had residual disease after NC or NET. Eight of 12 patients responded to NC, and 4 of 13 to NET; the difference was marginally significant (P = 0.07). In the NC group, the 2 patients with F-18-FES-negative tumors and none of the 10 patients with F-18-FES-avid tumors achieved pathologic complete response (P = 0.02). No difference in the SUVmax between responders and nonresponders was observed in either group. However, 5 of 7 NC patients with a baseline SUVmax of less than 7.3 achieved pathologic response, whereas none of the 5 NET patients with an SUVmax of less than 7.3 were responders (P = 0.03). The SUVmax values of the NC group were negatively correlated with percentage reduction of tumor cellularity (r = -0.63, P = 0.03), whereas those of the NET group showed positive correlation (r = 0.62, P = 0.02). During the median follow-up of 74 mo (range, 44-85 mo), recurrence occurred in only 4 NET patients. In patients with an SUVmax of less than 7.3, recurrence occurred in none of the 8 NC patients and 2 of the 5 NET patients (P = 0.13). Conclusion: Postmenopausal women who are ER-positive, but F-18-FES-negative, may benefit from NC rather than NET. F-18-FES PET/CT has the potential to predict response to neoadjuvant therapy in postmenopausal women with ER -rich breast cancer.
