This novel work focuses on turning Inconel 718 alloy using different sustainable lubricating-cooling techniques. Cryogenic machining (Cryo), minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) and nanofluid MQL (NFMQL) were applied and their performances in terms of obtainable surface integrity evaluated in comparison with dry cutting (dry) and wet machining (wet). The surface integrity was analyzed from the aspect of surface roughness, surface morphology and defects, microhardness, microstructure, and chip morphology. The experimental results revealed that Cryo offered overall better performances when compared to dry, wet, MQL and NFMQL strategies: lower surface roughness, fewer surface defects and lower chip compression ratio were observed. Furthermore, increasing the cutting speed led to higher surface roughness and incidence of surface defects for all the applied strategies, except for Cryo.

Purpose: This study evaluated anatomical variations in the root canals of the lower premolars and molars in a Brazilian sub-population using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: In total, 121 CBCT images of patients were selected from a database. All images contained lower first and second premolars and molars on both sides of the arch, fully developed roots, and no treatment, resorption, or calcifications. In each image, the root canals of the lower premolars and molars were evaluated according to the Vertucci classification in On-Demand 3D software in the multiplanar reconstruction with dynamic navigation. Twenty-five percent of the images were re-assessed to analyze intraobserver confidence with the kappa test. Data were statistically evaluated with linear regression to evaluate the correlations of anatomic variations with age and sex, and the Wilcoxon test to analyze the laterality of variations, with a significance level of 5%. Results: The intraobserver agreement (0.94) was excellent. In general, the root canals of lower premolars and molars showed a higher prevalence of type I than other Vertucci classification types, followed by type V in premolars and type II in molars. When the molar roots were evaluated separately, type II was more frequent in mesial roots and type I in distal roots. Although age showed no correlations with the results, sex and laterality showed correlations with tooth 45 and the lower second premolars, respectively. Conclusion: The lower premolars and molars of a Brazilian sub-population showed a wide range of root canal anatomic variations
In-situ surface analysis of AuPd(110) under elevated pressure of CO

<P>With the combination of various in-situ surface science tools, surface chemical and structural properties of bimetallic AuPd(1 1 0) alloys are characterized under elevated CO pressure. Under 1 Torr of CO gas pressure, STM images show the formation of nano-sized surface rice-grains along the index direction of [1-10] while PM-IRRAS shows new CO vibrational band. This new vibrational band of PM-IRRAS is confirmed as the CO molecules attached to atop site of Pd with the results of ambient pressure XPS. In the case of adsorption of CO on AuPd(1 1 0) alloys, the so-called 'pressure gap' exists and the surface morphology and its chemical states change at elevated pressure conditions. The impact of oral supplementation with an effervescent glutamine formulation on the beneficial effects of antiretroviral therapies was evaluated in people living with HIV/AIDS. For this purpose, 12 HIV/AIDS carrier patients with CD4+ T cell counts <500, and who had received the same antiretroviral therapy for at least 1 year before starting this investigation were selected. The patients were required to dissolve the effervescent glutamine formulation (supplied in sachets) in water immediately before oral ingestion (12.4 g), once a day, after lunch or after dinner during 30 days. CD4+ T cell counts, complete blood cell counts, serum cytokines, and amino acids levels were quantified; biochemical and toxicological measurements were performed. The numbers of CD4+ T cells were increased (P < .05), and the serum C-reactive protein levels decreased (P < .01) after the administration of effervescent glutamine formulation. Serum levels of interferon-gamma inducible protein-10, RANTES, and macrophage inflammatory protein-1β were decreased after the treatment with effervescent glutamine formulation. No changes were observed in the serum levels of amino acids, hematological, toxicological, and biochemical parameters. In conclusion, the treatment during 30 days with effervescent glutamine formulation was well tolerated, promoted reduction of inflammation, and improved the beneficial effects of antiretroviral therapies in HIV/AIDS carrier patients.

Physical exercise may help maintain muscle properties and functional improvement after peripheral nerve lesion, which may be enhanced by using biocompatible substances, such as sericin. The aim of this study was analyse the effect of sericin associated with swimming exercise on the phenotype, innervation, and functionality of the plantar muscle of Wistar rats. Forty randomly divided adult rats were used in five groups of eight animals: control, injury, sericin, exercise, exercise and sericin. The application of sericin was done on the spot, 100 μL, shortly after nerve compression. Three days after sciatic nerve compression, the swimming and swimming and sericin groups were submitted to physical swimming exercise for 21 days. Afterwards, the animals were euthanised and the plantar muscle was dissected and submitted to histochemical and histoenzymological techniques. The grip strength test did not show alterations in muscular functionality, and the control presented greater muscle mass in relation to the other groups, the same did not occur for muscle length. Polymorphic neuromuscular junctions were detected in the groups, although without significant morphometric alterations of the area, major and minor diameters. The percentage of type I fibres was lower in the lesion group and there was no difference in fibres IIa and IIb between groups. The area of fibres I, IIa and IIb remained constant between groups. Sericin biopolymer combined with swimming exercise did not affect plantar muscle function, submitted to experimental axonotmosis, whose contractile properties were altered by nerve injury.

<P><B>Summary</B></P> <P>Hypoxia is a universal driver of aggressive tumor behavior, but the underlying mechanisms are not completely understood. Using a phosphoproteomics screen, we now show that active Akt accumulates in the mitochondria during hypoxia and phosphorylates pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 (PDK1) on Thr346 to inactivate the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. In turn, this pathway switches tumor metabolism toward glycolysis, antagonizes apoptosis and autophagy, dampens oxidative stress, and maintains tumor cell proliferation in the face of severe hypoxia. The Use of Cryotherapy in the Gout Pain Control: A Systematic Review

Background Gout traditional treatment consists of anti-inflammatory drugs, analgesics and other rheumatic controllers, however, the occurrence of drug interactions occurs with a certain degree of toxicity, requiring that other methods be used to relieve symptoms. An alternative treatment is cryotherapy due to its capacity for analgesia. Purpose The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review that addressed the literature with production on gouty arthritis and its treatment with cryotherapy. Study design Systematic review Methods This review was described according to the items requested by the PRISMA system. This is a systematic review of publications from the year 2000 to the year 2019 in the following white literature databases PubMed, LILACS, SciELO, Web of Science, Science Direct, Scopus, Cochrane, PEDro and in the gray literature a Google Scholar database. The electronic databases were consulted from November 2019. Results After searching the databases, reading and selection, two studies contemplated the methodological criteria of eligibility, being of the same authorship, both with more than ten years of publication, using similar methods of application of ice. Conclusions It was found that, despite the scarcity of studies that addressed the topic, the articles found show reasonable rigor methodological and homogeneous results, demonstrating that cryotherapy helps in reducing the pain of individuals with gout, however, there is little evidence to support this hypothesis.
