        Different Attempt to Improve Friction Stir Brazing: Effect of Mechanical Vibration and Rotational Speed

        A developed version of friction stir brazing (FSB) entitled friction stir vibration brazing (FSVB) was presented to fabricatelow carbon steel joint using %67wt Sn-%33wt Pb alloy as a braze metal. This attempt aims to analyze the role of mechanicalvibration and rotational speed on microstructure and mechanical behaviors of the brazed samples. Furthermore, the thermalanalysis, the thickness of intermetallic compounds (IMCs) layers, and void volume percentage at the joint interface werestudied. It was concluded that the temperature during the joining process increased and the coherency of the joint interfaceenhanced while FSVB was applied instead of FSB. In addition, the grains in the joint zone under the FSVB process weresmaller than those produced under the conventional FSB process. The results also showed that the mechanical performance,namely hardness, and shear strength increased and the thickness of the IMCs layer along with the void volume percentagein the brazed sample decreased as rotational speed increased from 850 to 1150 rpm. The results indicated that rotationalspeeds over 1150 rpm had detrimental effects on mechanical properties. This is related to the effect of high heat input andinduced temperature on brazing flow and filler-base metal interaction.

        Investigating the Effect of Surface Roughness Size and Shape on the Nanofluid Behavior and Nanoparticles Aggregation in a Square Nanochannel by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

        In this article, the eff ect of surface roughness size and shape on the Poiseuille fl ow of Ar–Cu nanofl uid in a square copper nanochannel is investigated. To do this, hemispherical, cubic, semi-cylindrical roughness, shapes extended along the nanochannel length and width, and square protrusions extended along the nanochannel length and width are studied. The simulations are carried out using the molecular dynamics method and LAMMPS software. The results show that the roughness causes a change in the velocity and structure of nanofl uid atoms in the nanochannel. For example, the hemispherical roughness with a height of 7.5Å causes 24% decrease in the nanofl uid velocity. Also, the results show that the eff ect of diff erent shapes and sizes of roughness on the nanofl uid behavior is diff erent. For example, at the same height of roughness ( 7.5Å ), the velocity diff erence created by diff erent roughness shapes is around 0.208 Å ps , which is around 13% of the nanofl uid velocity in the smooth state. Additionally, it is found that the roughness makes the nanofl uid velocity profi le fl atter in the central part of the nanochannel. Also, the results reveal that the shape and height of the roughness have an eff ect on the aggregation time of nanoparticles and on how they move in the nanofl uid. Specifi cally, increasing the height of the roughness and decreasing the velocity of the nanofl uid, decreases the accumulation time of nanoparticles.

        Analysis of genetic diversity in a collection of Plantago species: application of ISSR markers

        The analysis of genetic diversity in medicinal plant species can greatly facilitate germplasm conservation and selection for use in breeding schemes. The aim of the present study was to assess the genetic diversity and diferentiation of eight Plantago species using inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. Thirty-one Plantago accessions belonging to eight species were collected from Iran environments. Polymorphisms in the DNA of Plantago accessions were analyzed using 25 ISSR primers. The data for 286 polymorphic bands indicated that the ISSR primers each amplifed 5–21 polymorphic amplicons that were 100–3000 bp in size. The mean polymorphism was 83.83% and fve primers showed higher polymorphism. The polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.1103 to 0.3829 with a mean of 0.2727. Accessions in P. amplexicaulis and P. pysillum represented the highest Nei’s and Shannon’s genetic diversity, while the lowest was obtained for P. lagopus. The phenetic network generated by the Neighbor-Net algorithm showed moderate confict and splitting of the eight species. Principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) results showed the separation of accessions of the eight species. The results suggest that ISSR markers can diferentiate Plantago species and that information on genetic diversity may assist in pre-breeding evaluations and Plantago germplasm conservation.

      • Sleep Quality and Associated Risk Factors in Leukemia Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy in Iran

        This study aimed to determine sleep disorders and associated risk factors in leukemia patients undergoing chemotherapy in Imam Khomeini Hospital of Sari, Iran. This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015 with 100 patients selected. Inclusion criteria included complete mental and psychological health and being over 18 years old, and exclusion criteria included suffering other cancers, other chronic diseases, concurrent radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality standard questionnaire was used to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of mental sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep quality, sleep disturbances, use of sleeping drugs, and impaired daily functioning. Data were analyzed by software SPSS 18 and by using descriptive and inferential tests (Pearson, Spearman, T-test and chi-square). Totals of 47 men (47%) and 53 women (53%) with a mean age of $44.1{\pm}1.7$, participated in the study. The mean overall score of sleep quality was $9.3{\pm}3.9$, which represents the average sleep quality in most participants. T-test shows that males have better sleep quality than females (t=2.1; 95%CI:0.004-0.25; P<0.01). Also the sleep quality increased with age (r=0.22, P=0.03). Results show that the amount of sleep quality was only moderate in most patients, so it is necessary to take coping strategies to improve their quality of sleep.

        The Effect of Comfrey on Enoxaparin-Induced Bruise in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Randomised Clinical Trial

        Objectives: Bruising is an important side effect of enoxaparin injection. Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is used to treat different types of wounds, bone fractures, and bruising in traditional medicine in many countries for centuries. This study aimed to determine the effects of the Comfrey ointment on the bruise size and color following enoxaparin injection. Methods: This double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted on 80 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The participants were randomly divided into two groups of 40, namely Comfrey and Placebo. Changes in bruise size and color in both groups were assessed daily before and after the intervention. Results: The Comfrey and Placebo groups were homogeneous in demographic and clinical variables. A downward trend was observed in the bruise size in both groups throughout the study. However, the bruise size was smaller in the Comfrey group than the Placebo group on day 2-5 of the intervention. Moreover, there was a significant difference in bruise color between the groups, with a shorter healing course in the Comfrey group. Conclusion: The Comfrey ointment accelerated the healing process of enoxaparin injection-induced bruising in patients with ACS. It is recommended as a safe and simple approach for these patients.

        Weighted sum Pareto optimization of a three dimensional passenger vehicle suspension model using NSGA-II for ride comfort and ride safety

        The present research study utilizes a multi-objective optimization method for Pareto optimization of an eight-degree of freedom full vehicle vibration model, adopting a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). In this research, a full set of ride comfort as well as ride safety parameters are considered as objective functions. These objective functions are divided in to two groups (ride comfort group and ride safety group) where the ones in one group are in conflict with those in the other. Also, in this research, a special optimizing technique and combinational method consisting of weighted sum method and Pareto optimization are applied to transform Pareto double-objective optimization to Pareto full-objective optimization which can simultaneously minimize all objectives. Using this technique, the full set of ride parameters of three dimensional vehicle model are minimizing simultaneously. In derived Pareto front, unique trade-off design points can selected which are non-dominated solutions of optimizing the weighted sum comfort parameters versus weighted sum safety parameters. The comparison of the obtained results with those reported in the literature, demonstrates the distinction and comprehensiveness of the results arrived in the present study.

      • Investigation of the load-bearing capacity of suction caissons used for offshore wind turbines

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper presents the results of three-dimensional finite element analyses of the suction bucket foundation used for offshore wind turbines. The behavior of the bucket and the response of soil supporting the bucket in dense and medium dense sandy soils subjected to static horizontal load are investigated. Field tests results and a centrifuge model test are used to validate the numerical model. Dimensionless horizontal load-displacement and overturning moment-rotation relationships are derived utilizing the Power law and Buckingham’s theorem. The results show good agreement between the numerical analysis results and the straight lines obtained from the Power law until a specific value of horizontal load and overturning moment. Regarding stress behavior of soil supporting the bucket, due to soil densification and bucket movement, maximum stresses are seen near the bucket tip at the right inside of the bucket. The major part of the applied load is transferred by the bucket skirt. Numerical analysis modeling results show that the bucket rotation and displacement are highly dependent on the bucket geometry and soil properties in addition to loading conditions. Normalized equations and figures for the ultimate horizontal load and overturning-moment capacities are presented and can be used for the preliminary design of the bucket foundations in sandy soils.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Preliminary design equations and figures for bucket foundations are proposed. </LI> <LI> Presenting normalized equations and figures for bucket foundations using Power law. </LI> <LI> Bucket rotation and displacement are highly dependent on the bucket geometry. </LI> <LI> Maximum stresses are seen near the bucket tip at the right inside of the bucket. </LI> <LI> The largest soil displacement occurs near the lid inside of the bucket. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Effect of Live Yeast and Mannan-oligosaccharides on Performance of Early-lactation Holstein Dairy Cows

        This study evaluated the effects of live yeast and yeast cell-wall mannan-oligosaccharide supplementation onperformance and nutrient digestibility during early lactation in cows fed a diet based on a mixture of corn silage and alfalfa hay as forage sources. Eight multiparous Holstein dairy cows (average days in milk, 27${\pm}$6) were used in a replicated 4${\times}$4 Latin square design. Diets contained 45% forage and 55% concentrate on a dry matter (DM) basis and treatments were: i) basal diet without additive (Control), ii) basal diet with 32 g/d of mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS), iii) basal diet with $1.2{\times}10^{10}$ colony forming units per day (cfu/d) of live yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM 1-1077; SC), and iv) basal diet with a mixture of MOS (32 g/d) and SC ($1.2{\times}10^{10}$ cfu/d; MOS+SC). Treatments had no effect (p>0.05) on DM intake and yields of milk, 3.5% fat-(FCM) and energy-corrected milk (ECM), and on milk fat percentage, body condition score and blood metabolites. Compared with the Control, only supplementation of SC resulted in numerically higher yields of FCM (41.9 vs. 40.1 kg/d) and ECM (41.8 vs. 40.3 kg/d), and milk fat percentage (3.64 vs. 3.43%). While the MOS diet had no effects on performance compared to the Control, the combination treatment MOS+SC increased milk protein percentage (p<0.05). Also, the MOS supplementation, both alone or in combination with SC, numerically increased milk fat percentage. The SC supplementation increased apparent digestibility of DM and crude protein while the MOS supplementation did not affect digestibility. Concentrations of total volatile fatty acids (VFA) and ruminal pH were similar across treatments. Overall results indicated that supplementation of MOS produced variable and inconsistent effects on rumen metabolism and performance, whereas SC supplementation improved nutrient digestibility and numerically increased FCM and ECM yields, which could not be enhanced by the combined supplementation of MOS+SC. According to our experimental condition, there was no effect of MOS alone or in combination with SC on dairy cow performance.
