Ten species of herbae, which have been used to treat cancers in Chinese medicine, were tested to investigate their mutagenieity or antimutagenicity in S. typhimurium TA97, TA98, TA100, TA1S35, and TA1538. Scolopendra centipede was weakly active in reversion of the frameshift mutation in S. typhimurium TA97 strain and the base-pair substitution in TA100 and TA1535 strains. Other herbae such as Coix lachryma, Dianthus superbus, Tricanthoshse kirilowii, Eupatorium formo- sanum, Lithospermum erythrorliizon, Arisaema japonicum, Curcuma aedoaria, Helicteres angustifolia, and Euonymus sieboldianus did not show any of the mutagenic potential, regardless of the metabolic activation with rat hepatic microsomal fraction. Dianthus superbus, Eupatorium formosanum, and Euonymus sieboMianus exhibited suppressive activities on microbial mutagenesis of N-methyl-N-nitrosoguanidine, a basepair substitution mutagen, in TA1535 and TA10G tester strains. The antimutagenic activities of Dianthus superbus and Euonymus sie- boldianus appeared to be dose-dependant.
계혈등 EtOAc subfraction-2가 종양전이 억제효과에 관한 연구

Spatholobus Suberectus dunn. has been applied to blood stasis in oriental medicine. We selected one potent ethylacetate subfraction-2 from Spatholobus Suberectus Dunn.(SSD) from anti-metastasis screening. It exerted the cytotoxicity, against HT1080 and B16BL6 with the IC50 of 60 ug/ml and also significantly inhibited tumor cell induced platelet aggregation (TCIPA). It effectively didn't inhibit cell adhesion of HT1080 to matrigel coated wells, while it inhibited the cell invasion of HT1080 at the doses of 10, 20, 40 ㎍/mi by Boyden chamber assay. It effectively suppressed lung metastasis by B16BL6 melanoma in C57BL6 mice. These results indicate that the EtOAc subfraction-2 of Spatholobus Suberectus Dunn. can be applied to caner treatment with anti-metastatic activity.
충격하중을 받는 작은 중공원판의 고변형도율에서의 변형특성

본 연구는 축방향의 동압축하중(axial dynamic compression)을 받는 작은 중공원판이 고변형도율(.epsilon.>1,000/sec), 고변형률(.epsilon.=ln(h/h$_{o}$ )>1.0)로 변형하는 재료에 대해서 연구하고자 한다.

Radiation portal monitors (RPMs) installed at airports and harbors to prevent illicit trafficking of radioactive materials generally use large plastic scintillators. However, their energy resolution is poor and radionuclide identification is nearly unfeasible. In this study, to improve isotope identification, a RPM system based on a multi-array plastic scintillator and convolutional neural network (CNN) was evaluated by measuring the spectra of radioactive sources. A multi-array plastic scintillator comprising an assembly of 14 hexagonal scintillators was fabricated within an area of 50 × 100 cm2. The energy spectra of 137Cs, 60Co, 226Ra, and 4K (KCl) were measured at speeds of 10–30 km/h, respectively, and an energy-weighted algorithm was applied. For the CNN, 700 and 300 spectral images were used as training and testing images, respectively. Compared to the conventional plastic scintillator, the multi-arrayed detector showed a high collection probability of the optical photons generated inside. A Compton maximum peak was observed for four moving radiation sources, and the CNN-based classification results showed that at least 70% was discriminated. Under the speed condition, the spectral fluctuations were higher than those under dwelling condition. However, the machine learning results demonstrated that a considerably high level of nuclide discrimination was possible under source movement conditions
