The preparation of a series of sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) copolymers (SPESs) and their applications as ion exchange membranes (IEMs) for vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have been reported. Various SPES membranes with IEC from 1.44 meq/g to 2.02 meq/g were fully characterized in terms of various physical and electrochemical properties, including dimensional variation, membrane resistance, and vanadium ion permeability. Compared to Nafion 115, the SPES membrane with an IEC of 1.71 meq/g has a higher EE (75-88 %) and CE (>98%) at test current densities form 40 and 100 mA/cm2 and significantly larger capacity retention (>99%) during the 100 charge-discharge cycles in the single cell VRFB performance test.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the energy efficiency of the radiant cooling and heating system with the map of energy flow in HVAC systems. One of the commonly used HVAC system in office, conventional forced air system is chosen to compare with radiant space conditioning system. The elements of HVAC systems are categorized according to thermal chain. Both of the HVAC systems are diagramized using energy chain, which is based on the energy balance equation. By the analysis of HVAC systems, the complex energy flow of HVAC system is simply presented. By analyzing energy flow map of the radiant cooling and heating system, the energy saving potential can be suggested.
