The objective of this research is to study the variation of optimum slope angles of collectors for seven regions in Korea, which are Seoul, Gangneung, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, Busan and Jeju. The results for 2000~2007 are analyzed to see if adjustment of slope angles is necessary each year to receive maximum solar radiation. For an azimuth fixed solar collector, solar radiation of yearly optimized slope angle during May~Sept.(summer), Nov.~Mar.(winter) and the whole year are greater than the fixed slope angle by 0.03%, 0.02%, and 0.04%, respectively. For an azimuth tracking solar collector, solar radiation of yearly optimized slope angle during May~Sept.(summer), Nov.~Mar.(winter) and the whole year are greater than the fixed slope angle by 0.03%, 0.07%, and 0.04% respectively. It is unnecessary to adjust slope angles each year for both azimuth fixed and tracking collectors, since the gains are insignificant. Solar radiation of the azimuth tracking solar collector during May~Sept., Nov.~Mar. and the whole year are greater by 14.7%, 16.0%, and 19.2% than the azimuth fixed solar collector.
백서에서 혈소판 풍부 혈장의 제작과 유효성에 대한 실험적 연구

Purpose: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is known to accelerate and/or enhance hard and soft tissue healing and regeneration. As such, PRP has been used in various clinical fields of surgery. Recently there have been several attempts to use PRP in the field of tissue engineering. However, some controversies still exist on exact mechanism and benefits of PRP. Therefore various animal experiments are necessary to reveal the effect of the PRP. However, even if animal experiment is performed, the efficacy of the experiment could not be validated due to absence of an animal PRP model. The purpose of this study is to establish rat PRP model by comparing several PRP fabricating methods, and to assay growth factor concentration in the PRP. Materials and methods: Rat blood samples were collected from nine SD rat (body weight: 600-800g). PRP was prepared using three different PRP fabricating methods according to previously reported literatures. (Method 1: 800 rpm, 15 minute, single centrifuge; Method 2: 1000 rpm, 10 minute, double centrifuge; Method 3: 3000 rpm, 4min and 2500 rpm, 8 min, double centrifuge). Platelet counts were evaluated in an automated machine before and after PRP fabrications. In terms of growth factor assay, prepared PRP were activated with 100 unit thrombin and 10% calcium chloride. Growth factor (PDGF-BB, VEGF) concentrations on incubation time were determined by sandwich-ELISA technique. Results: An average of 3ml (via infraorbital venous plexus) to 15ml (via celiac axis) the rat blood could be collected. By using Method 3 (3000 rpm, 4 min and 2500 rpm, 8 min, double centrifugation), around 1.5ml of PRP could be prepared. This method allowed us to concentrate platelet 3.77-fold on average. PDGF-BB concentration (mean, 1942.10 pg/ml after 1 hour incubation) and VEGF concentration (mean, 952.71 pg/ml after 1 hour incubation) in activated PRP were higher than those in untreated blood. Also PDGF-BB showed constant concentration during 4-hour incubation, while VEGF concentration was decreased after 1 hour. Conclusion: Total 11,000 g minute separation and condensation double centrifuge method can produce efficient platelet-rich plasma. Platelet-rich plasma activated with thrombin has showed higher concentrations of growth factors such as PDGF-BB and VEGF, compared to the control group. Platelet-rich plasma model in a rat model was confirmed in this study.

Background : Antinuclear antibodies(ANA) have high sensitivity for the diagnosis of systemic rheumatologic diseases, but have low specificiη relatively. Recently, we have used antibodies to extractable nuclear antigens(ENA) additiona11y, which enabled us to determine what the ANA detected rea11y were. The purpose of this study was to examine frequencies of autoantibodies and clinica1 significances of them by ana1yzing resu1ts of ANA, anti-ENA and anti-dsDNA tests. Methods: From Januaη, 1997 to March, 1998, the sera of 339 patients who were suspected that they have systemic rheumatologic diseases and 54 ones diagnozed as systemic lupus eηthematosus(SLE) were ana1yzed by performing ANA, anti-ENA(anti-RNAjSm, anti-SS - AjS S-B, anti-Sc170) and anti-dsDNA tests. Results : In 339 patients with suspicious systemic rheumatologic diseases, the concordance rate of positivity between ANA and anti-ENA was 23.6% and that of negativiη was 23.3%. The positivity rate of anti-ENA among patients with negative ANA was 0.9%. We detected anti-SS - AjRo in the rate of 41.0%, anti-RNP 16.9%, anti-Sm 2.4%, anti-SS - BjLa 1.2% and anti-Sc170 14.5% among patients with positive anti-ENA. Among 42 patients with positive anti-dsDNA, there were 32 cases with positive anti-ENA. 17 patients had anti-SS - AjRo, 4 ones anti-Scl70, 3 ones anti-RNPjSm. In 54 patients with SLE, the concordance rate of positivity between ANA and either anti-ENA or anti-dsDNA was 72.2%. Among patients with either positive anti-ENA or positive anti-dsDNA, we detected anti-SS - AjRo in the rate of 12.5%, anti-SS - Aj dsDNA 32.5% and anti-dsDNA 17.5%. Conclusion : When the titer of ANA is above 1: 160 and anti-ENA is negative, the accurate identification of ANA specificity would be essentia1 by using enzyme immunoassay or immunoblotting methods. The 1.9% positivity of anti-ENA among ANA negative SLE patients suggests the possibi1ity of presence of ANA-negative SLE in spite of performing ANA test using HEp-2 cells.

Our country has a higher level of energy dependence and therefore rely on imports from foreign countries and energy demand structure is vulnerable. Thus, there exist various energy policies related to the energy performance of buildings which will aim for the greenhouse gas reduction target in building sector. This study analyzes correlation between primary energy consumption per area and energy performance index in certified energy efficient non-residential buildings. 35 non-residential buildings were used and the analysis showed that there was low correlation between these two. Energy saving plan can introduce errors on evaluation of overall energy performance of the building due to incompleteness of application items. Therefore there is a need to change the evaluation approach which will evaluate the energy performance by its annual energy consumption.
복막투석 환자에서 발생한 Delftia acidovorans 복막염 1예

Delftia acidovarans is aerobic, nonfermentative Gram-negative rod commonly found in soil and water. Generally it is nonpathogenic but it unusually can cause bacteremia in immunocompromised patients. We present a case of peritonitis due to D. acidovorans in a patient on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. A 75-year-old woman was admitted with abdominal pain and cloudy peritoneal effluent. She was empirically treated with intraperitoneal (IP) cefazolin and ceftazidime, and then IP ceftazidime and oral ciprofloxacin, but peritonitis did not improve. Seven days after admission, D. acidovorans was identified from the peritoneal effluent, which was sensitive to amikacin, ceftazidime, ciprofloxacin and imipenem. Catheter removal was considered with regard to poor response to adequate antibiotics; however, 4 days after changing to IP imipenem/cilastatin, abdominal pain, the leukocyte count of peritoneal effluent and C-reactive protein decreased. She was treated with imipenem/cilastatin for two weeks and discharged with the dialysis catheter intact.
