Purpose: To report a case of diffuse conjunctival melanocytic lesion mimicking conjunctival melanoma and treated by surgical excision and amniotic membrane transplantation. Case summary: A 29-year-old man presented with diffuse pigmented lesion on the bulbar conjunctiva in the right eye, which had been present since birth. Circumferential pigmentation was observed in the perilimbal conjunctiva from 4 to 11 o’clock, and slightly elevated, dark brown-colored lesions with multiple small cysts were noted on the superior, inferior, and temporal bulbar conjunctiva. Incisional biopsy was performed from multiple sites to rule out conjunctival melanoma. Histopathologic examination showed small nevus cells and multiple cysts. Under local anesthesia, temporal conjunctival excision and amniotic membrane transplantation were performed. The surgical pathologist confirmed compound nevus. Four weeks after the surgery, full epithelialization was observed over the amniotic membrane. Several lesions were intentionally left during the surgery, and unnoticeable from the frontal view. The patient was satisfied with the surgical result. Conclusions: In extensive conjunctival pigmented lesion, biopsy should always be performed to rule out melanoma. Temporal conjunctival excision rather than whole lesion excision can be a cosmetically good surgical option for a diffuse conjuntival lesion proven as a benign conjunctival nevus. 고체산화물연료전지는 청정에너지원으로써 기존의 발전방식을 대신할 차세대 에너지원으로 각광 받고 있다. 고체산화물 연료전지는 고온에서 작동하는 특성상 실험을 통하여 전극미세구조 및 구동조건을 최적화하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 본 연구는 전기화학식을 이용한 전산모사를 통해서 고체산화물 연료전지의 구동조건에 따른 성능 평가 및 전극의 미세구조 최적화 과정을 수행하였다. 전극 내 전달현상을 무시하고 오직 전기화학반응만을 고려한 전산모사는 단전지의 전극미세구조 및 구동조건에 따른 전지성능을 빠르게 예측할 수 있으며, 이를 기반으로 다양한 조건에서 얻은 전지 성능 데이터를 통해 전극미세구조를 최적화하였다. 개회로전압, 활성화분극, 저항분극, 물질수송손실을 표현하기 위하여 Nernst 식, Butler-Voler 식, 옴의 법칙, dusty-gas 모델을 각각 사용하였으며, 전극미세구조 및 구동조건의 변화는 물질확산계수 및 교환전류밀도를 통하여 그 영향이 전지성능에 반영된다. 온도, 압력, 주입 연료의 조성에 대한 성능평가가 수행되었으며, 1023K, 1 bar의 조건하에서 최적의 단전지 성능을 위한 기공도와 기공크기를 조사하였다. 더 향상된 단전지 성능 확보를 위해서 실험에서 쓰이는 기능층(functional layer)과 유사하게 넓은 반응 면적과 원활한 반응물 및 생성물의 이동을 보장하도록 기공도 및 기공크기를 그레이딩한 전극구조(graded-electrode)를 디자인하고 성능을 평가하였다. 그 결과 기존의 전지구조 대신에 그레이딩된 전극을 사용할 경우 50%이상 향상된 전지성능을 예측할 수 있었다.
활성탄의 이산화탄소 흡착에 미치는 유무기계 첨가제의 영향

In this study, amine and metal oxide additives were investigated to improve CO2 adsorption capacity of activated carbons (ACs). The characteristics of surface modified ACs were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and BET. Amine surface treatment decreased specific surface area and pore volume of ACs, but increased alkalinity by the incorporated nitrogen functional groups. Adsorption capacities of amine functionalized ACs was larger than original ACs, because basic group which can react with CO2 was grafted on the ACs surface. Presence of copper oxides on ACs also enhances the carbon dioxide adsorption. The copper oxides could increase the adsorption rate of carbon dioxides due to the acid-base interaction (or electron acceptor-donor interaction). It was found that copper oxide loading was a promising method to improve the CO2 adsorption capacity of ACs.
A Study on Cooling Systems with Cold Water Panels in the Walls of Small Buildings

This study was conducted on cooling systems in which, for the first time at home and abroad, cold water panels are embedded in the walls of small buildings for radiant cooling by heat absorption with cold water. In summer, cold water is circulated through cold water (chiller) circulation tubes embedded in three walls (two side walls and one rear wall) of a building to implement radiant cooling by the coldness of the water. From the results of this study, the experimental and theoretical natural convection heat transfer coefficients were relatively well-matched over the entire experimental range, thereby verifying the reliability of the experimental results. The surface temperature reduction rate of the walls in which cold water panels are embedded was large whereas that of the walls where no cold water panels are embedded was very small.
에를로티닙과 라파티닙을 사용한 환자에서 발생한 표층점상각막병증

Purpose: To report the corneal superficial punctate keratoepitheliopathy in 2 patients taking the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors, erlotinib and lapatinib, respectively. Case summary: Case 1, who received erlotinib, showed trichomegaly without touching the cornea and diffuse punctate keratoepitheliopathy. Corneal epitheliopathy and the corresponding symptoms resolved after discontinuation of the drug then recurred with reapplication. Case 2 presented diffuse corneal punctate epithelial erosions that developed without any cilia involvement after the patient was administered lapatinib. The visual acuity of both patients was not severely diminished and keratoepitheliopathy was mostly resolved with the treatment of preservative-free artificial tears and autologous serum eye drops. Conclusions: Erlotinib and lapatinib are both likely to cause visually tolerable corneal punctate keratoepitheliopathy which can be resolved with appropriate topical treatment.
