블록기반 DCT 영상 부호화기의 블록화 왜곡 블라인드 측정

본 논문은 블록기반 DCT 부호화 영상의 화질 평가 및 개선에 필수적인 블록화 왜곡 정도를 측정하는 새로운 블라인드 측정 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 원영상을 필요로 하지 않으며 또한 인간시각 특성의 다채널 구조에 따른 주파수 민감도와 마스킹 현상을 반영하여 영상 부호화시 발생하는 블록화 왜곡량을 정량적으로 검출, 측정하였으며 실험을 통해 제안된 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다. This paper proposes a new blind measurement model of blocking artifacts. This model plays an important role in the assessment and enhancement of image quality caused by block-based DCT coding system. The proposed model can measure blocking artifacts without reference to original images and consider the HVS based visual model such as frequency sensitivity and channel masking effect to detect and measure overall blocking artifacts quantitatively. The experimental results show that the proposed model is highly effective in measuring blocking artifacts.
인간시각특성을 이용한 블록기반 DCT 영상 부호화기의 정량적 화질 평가

본 논문은 블록기반 DCT 부호화기의 성능 검증에 필수적인 부호화된 영상의 열화 정도를 측정하는 새로운 정량적 화질평가 모델은 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 HVS 기반의 다채널 시각 모델을 이용하여 영상신호에 있어서의 주파수 민감도와 채널의 마스킹 효과를 고려한 공간 영역상의 전반적인 왜곡의 가시도 뿐만 아니라 블록기반 DCT 부호화에서 발생할 수 있는 구획화 현상, 번짐, ringing 등의 국부적인 왜곡 특성을 측정하여 이를 화질 열화 특성에 반영하였다. This paper proposes a new quantitative image assessment model which is essential to verify the performance of block-based DCT coding. The proposed model considers not only global distortions such as frequency sensitivity and channel masking using HVS based visual model, but also distortions including several local distortions caused by block-based coding.
플래시 변환 계층을 위한 DPW-LRU 캐시 교체 알고리즘 분석 및 개선

Although flash disks are being used widely instead of hard disks, it is difficult to optimize for effective utilization of flash disks because overwrite in place is impossible and the power consumption and time required for read, write, and erase operations are all different. One of these optimization issues is a cache management strategy to minimize write operations. The cache operates at two levels: an operating system equipped with flash disks and a translation layer within the flash disk. Most studies deal with the operating system-level cache strategy. In this study, we implement and analyse the DPW-LRU algorithm which is one of the recently proposed operating system cache replacement algorithms to apply to FTL, and grope with some improvements. As a result of the experiment, the DPW-LRU algorithm maintained superiority even in the FTL environment, and showed better performance with a slight improvement.

Real-time energy monitoring systems is a demand-response system which is reported to be effective in saving energy up to 12%. Real-time energy monitoring system is commonly composed of smart-plugs which sense how much electrical power is consumed and IHD(In-Home Display device) which displays power consumption patterns. Even though the monitoring system is effective, users should themselves match which smart plus is connected to which appliance. In order to make the matching work to be automatic, the monitoring system need to have appliance identification algorithm, and some works have made under the name of NILM(Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring). This paper proposed an algorithm which utilizes multiple classifiers to improve accuracy of appliance identification. The algorithm proposes to understand each classifiers performance, that is, when a classifier make a result how much the result is reliable, and utilize it in choosing the final result among result candidates from many classifiers. By using the proposed algorithm this paper make 4.5% of improved accuracy with respect to using single best classifier, and 2.9% of improved accuracy with respect to other method using multiple classifiers, so called CDM(Commitee Decision Mechanism) method.
LPC 켑스트럼 계수를 이용한 EMG 신호의 기능 인식에 관한 연구

In this study, eight function discrimination and recognition of the EMG signal from the biceps and triceps of 4 subjects were executed, using the Euclidean and weighted cepstral distance measure with LPC cepstrum coefficients. In case of Euclidean cepstral distance measure, as the number of LPC cepstrum coefficients was increased in 8, 10, 12, 14 the recognition rates of functions are 94.69, 95.63, 96.56, and 96.88[%], respectively, but increasing rates of recognition were inclined to decrease. In case of weighted cepstral distance measure, when the number of LPC cepstrum coefficients was 8, 10, 12 and 14, the recognition rates of functions were 91.88, 95, 99.69, and 96.63[%], respectively. 본 논문에서는 3전극법으로 피검자의 이두박근과 삼두박근에서 검출한 표면 근전도 신호를 LPC 켑스트럼 계수를 이용하여 유클리드 및 가중 켐스트럼 거리 측정법을 통하여 8가지 팔 운동에 대한 기능분리 및 판별 인식에 관한 실험을 하였다. 유클리드 켑스트럼 거리 측정법의 경우,계수의 수가 8,10,12,14 등으로 증가함에 따라 동작기능 인식률도 각각 94.69, 95.63, 96.56, 96.88[%]로 증가하였으나 인식률의 증가폭은 상대적으로 적으며 가중 켑스트럼 거리 측정법의 경우에는 각각 91.88, 95, 99.69, 96.63[%]의 인식률을 보였다.
IoT 서비스 플랫폼을 위한 리눅스 FUSE 기반 가상 파일 시스템

The major components of IoT(Internet of Things) environment are IoT devices rather than the conventional desktop computers. One of the intrinsic characteristics of IoT devices is diversity in view of data type and data access method. In addition, IoT devices usually deal with real-time data. In order to use such IoT data for internal business or cloud services, an IoT platform capable of easy domain management and consistent data access interface is required. This paper proposes a Linux FUSE-based virtual file system connecting IoT devices on POSIX file system view. It is possible to manage IoT domain with the native Linux utilities such as mkdir, mknod, ls and find in the file system. Also, the file system makes it possible to access or control IoT devices through POSIX interface such as open(), read(), write() or close() without any separate APIs or utilities. A test result shows that the management performance of the file system is lower than that of linux file system negligibly.

SSDs that are not allowed in-place update within the allocated page cause another allocation of a new page that will replace the previous page at the moment data modification occurs. This intrinsic characteristic of SSDs requires many changes to the existing HDD-based IO theory. In this paper, we conduct a performance comparison of FTL caching strategy in perspective of cache hashing (Global vs. grouped) and caching algorithm (LRU vs. NUR) through a simulation. Experimental results show that in terms of energy consumption for flash operation the grouped management of cache is not suitable and NUR algorithm is superior to LRU algorithm. In particular, we found that the cache hit ratio of LRU algorithm is about 10% point higher than that of NUR algorithm while the energy consumption of LRU algorithm is about 32% high.
