The purpose of this study is to investigate the overall frequency in which Korean EFL advanced learners (L2) employ metadiscourse compared to English native speakers (L1). The study utilized Hyland and Tse’s (2004) categorization of interactional metadiscourse as an operational model. It highly focused on the internal relation between metadiscourse and discourse. As the use of hedges and boosters derives from a writer’s attitude on the proposition, the study examined 20 Ph.D. dissertations in English and analyzed the way in which L1 and L2 writers used hedges and boosters. The quantitative analysis suggested that both L1 and L2 writers used more hedges than boosters. Korean students employed especially more hedges than English native speakers did, which makes assertion sound less strong. The qualitative analysis indicated that L1 and L2 writers exhibited the preference for different vocabulary choices. It demonstrated that Korean EFL students were not proficient in using various verbs. They considerably used the verb ‘show’ nearly 40% of the total usage of verbs, not adopting stative verbs frequently.

Although cystic fibrosis (CF) is one of the most common hereditary disorders among Caucasians, it is very rare in the Koreanpopulation. Patients with CF are at particularly high risk for developing lung disease caused by nontuberculous mycobacteria suchas the Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex or Mycobacterium abscessus. Here, we report a successfully treated case of M. abscessus lung disease in a Korean patient with CF.
CMP 방법으로 제조한 BSCCO 2212 튜브의 임계전류특성에 미치는 열처리 온도의 영향

[$Bi_2Sr_2Ca_1Cu_2O_x$](BSCCO 2212) tubes were fabricated by centrifugal melting process(CMP). BSCCO 2212 powder was melted in a Pt crucible and solidified in a rotating steel mold. The BSCCO 2212 tube samples separated from steel mold were heat-treated at $800^{\circ}C\;and\;810^{\circ}C$ in oxygen flow. The critical current($I_c$) of the samples was measured by transport measurement at 77K, and the microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscope. The $J_c$ at 77K of the tubes heated treated at $800^{\circ}C\;and\;810^{\circ}C$ were 197 and 240 $A/cm^2$, respectively. It was observed that the plate like grains in BSCCO 2212 tube was more developed in the sample heat treated at $810^{\circ}C\;and\;800^{\circ}C$ heated tube. It is found that the critical current($I_c$) of the BSCCO 2212 sample was dependent on the heating schedule regarding the growth of the BSCCO 2212 grains.

$Bi_2Sr_2Ca_1Cu_2O_x$(BSCCO 2212) superconductors for current lead were fabricated by centrifugal melting process(CMP). BSCCO 2212 powder was melted at $1200^{\circ}\C$ in a resistance furnace using a Pt crucible and poured in a rotating cylindrical mold preheated at $550^{\circ}\C$ for 2 hour. The solidified BSCCO-2212 samples were heat-treated by partial melting process in oxygen atmosphere. The current-voltage curves at 77 K of the samples were obtained by transport measurement, and the microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscope. The $J_c$ values at 77 K of the tubes partially melted at $840^{\circ}C,\;860^{\circ}C\;and\;880^{\circ}C$ were 492, 430 and 398 $A/cm^2$, respectively. It was observed that the plate-like grains in BSCCO 2212 tube was more developed in the sample heat-treated at $840^{\circ}C$. It was found that the critical current of the BSCCO 2212 samples was dependent on the partial melting schedule regarding the grain shape and size of the BSCCO 2212.

Bi-22l2 tubes for fault current limiter (FCL) were fabricated by centrifugal melting process. $SrSO_4$ ($10\;wt.\;\%$) was added to Bi-2212 powder to lower the melting point of Bi-22l2 and to improve the mechanical properties. The BSCCO powder was completely melted at $1300\;^{\circ}C$ using the RF furnace and then poured into rotating steel mold. The steel mold, preheated at $450\;{\circ}C{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ for 2 hour was rotated at $1020{\sim}2520\;RPM$. The solidified BSCCO tube was cooled down to room temperature in the furnace for 48 hours and separated from the mold between Bi-2212 and the mold. $ZrO_2$ solution was used to separate it easily from the mold and Ag tape was attached in the mold inner wall of the mold to analysis electrical property. Bi-22l2 tube was often cracked when the cooling rate was high. BSCCO tubes with $70{\Phi}{\times}100\;mm,\;50{\Phi}{\times}100\;mm$ and $30{\Phi}{\times}150\;mm$ size were fabricated by centrifugal melting process. The $J_{c}s$ of tubes with $50{\Phi}{\times}100\;mm{\times}4.0\;t$ and $50{\Phi}{\times}100\;mm{\times}4.l\;t$ were 178 and $74.2\;A/cm^2$ at 77K, respectively. The processing condition for Bi-2212 tube fabrication was investigated using XRD and SEM analyses.
서울시내 건축물 석면해체·제거 사업장 및 주변에서의공기 중 석면농도 특성에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 석면해체.제거작업에 따른 작업자 및 주변 환경에 미치는 영향 등을 파악하기 위해 서울시내 건축물석면해체.제거 사업장을 대상으로 공기 중 석면농도를 조사하고, 측정결과가 「석면안전관리법」에서 명시된 사업장 주변의석면배출허용기준에 적합한지를 살펴보았다. 서울시내 총 37개소 석면해체.제거 사업장에서 총 288개의 공기 중 시료를 분석하였으며, 전체 288개 시료 중 101개 시료에서(35%) 검출한계(7 fiber/mm2) 이하로 나타났다. 이 때 전체 공기 중 석면농도평균값은 0.003±0.002 f/cc로(최대 0.013 f/cc) 대부분의 공기 중 석면농도는 「석면안전관리법」에서 명시된 사업장 주변의 석면배출허용기준 0.01 f/cc 이하로 나타나 서울시내 건축물 석면해체.제거 사업장에서의 석면 노출가능성은 우려할 수준이아닌 것으로 판단된다. 채취지점별로 살펴보면, 부지경계선(148개), 위생설비입구(25개), 작업장주변(실내)(7개), 작업장주변(실외)(11개)에 대한 공기 중 석면농도 결과, 각각 53개(36%), 5개(20%), 1개(14%), 4개(36%) 시료에서 검출한계 이하로 나타났으며 평균농도는 각각 0.002±0.002 f/cc(최대 0.008 f/cc), 0.004±0.002 f/cc(최대 0.009 f/cc), 0.004±0.002 f/cc(최대 0.007 f/cc),0.004±0.002 f/cc로(최대 0.008 f/cc) 나타났다. 또한 음압기(13개), 폐기물보관지점(27개), 폐기물반출구(9개), 거주자주거지역(48개)에 대한 공기 중 석면농도 결과, 각각 3개(23%), 8개(30%), 2개(22%), 25개(52%) 시료에서 검출한계 이하로 나타났으며평균농도는 각각 0.004±0.002 f/cc(최대 0.009 f/cc), 0.005±0.004 f/cc(최대 0.013 f/cc), 0.005±0.003 f/cc(최대 0.009 f/cc),0.003±0.002 f/cc로(최대 0.009 f/cc) 나타났다. This study is purposed to measure airborne asbestos concentrations at demolition sites and surrounding areas of asbestoscontaining buildings in Seoul and examine whether the measurement results correspond with allowable exhaust standard for asbestosof the Asbestos Safety Control Act. The airborne asbestos concentrations for 37 sites were below the detection limit (7 fiber/mm2)in 101 (35%) out of 288 samples. The whole average airborne asbestos concentration in 37 sites was 0.003±0.002 f/cc (max 0.0013f/cc) and almost the whole airborne asbestos concentrations were satisfied with allowable exhaust standard for asbestos, 0.01 f/cc, ofthe Asbestos Safety Control Act. So possibility of asbestos exposure is not yet a major concern at current levels for sites demolishedof asbestos containing buildings in Seoul. Looking at each sampling point, the average airborne asbestos concentrations in boundaryline of site, entrance of sanitation, around the workplace (in), around the workplace (out), negative pressure units, storage area forwaste, outlet for waste and residential area of residents were respectively 0.002±0.002 f/cc, 0.004±0.002 f/cc, 0.004±0.002 f/cc,0.004±0.002 f/cc, 0.004±0.002 f/cc, 0.005±0.004 f/cc, 0.005±0.003 f/cc and 0.003±0.002 f/cc. As a result, all sampling points ofstudy were satisfied with allowable exhaust standard for asbestos, 0.01 f/cc, of the Asbestos Safety Control Act.
