2001년 카타르 도하에서 열린 세계무역기구(WTO)의 각료회의 결과 2005년까지 보건의료 서비스분야의 시장개방 논의를 마쳐야 한다. 이에 국내 의료계는 의료공동대책위원회를 구성하여 대응방안을 모색하고 있으며, 치협도 특별위원회를 구성하여 국민 구강보건에 최선의 방향을 찾기 위해 노력을 하고 있다. 그런 노력의 일환으로 치협은 치과의사들이 현 의료시장 개방이라는 명제 앞에서, 얼마나 처해진 상황을 잘 파악하고 있으며 무엇을 원하는 가를 알기 위해 회원들의 의견을 물었다. 이번 호와 다음 호에서는 치협이 지난 4월에 회원 및 치대생 등에게 설문 조사한 결과를 중심으로 모아진 회원들의 견해를 중심으로 구강보건정책연구회에서 발표한 자료를 게재한다.

This paper newly proposes a continuum based rebar element considering change of the orientation of the fiber during deformation of the composite. The mechanical behavior of the embedded fiber is modeled using two-node bar elements in order to consider the relative deformation and spatial orientation of the embedded fiber. For improvement of the analysis accuracy, the load?displacement curve of fiber is applied to the stiffness matrix of fiber. A finite element program is constructed based on the total Lagrangian formulation considering both geometric and material nonlinearity. Finite element analyses of the tensile test are carried out in order to evaluate the validity of the proposed method. Analysis results obtained with the proposed method provides realistic representation of the fiber reinforced rubber composite compared to results of other two models by the Halpin?Tsai equation and a rebar element in ABAQUS/Standard.

The National Health Screening program has been implemented in Korea since 1980. First, we had searched recent scientific evidences and verified the accuracy of the data on target oral diseases. In order to determine the validity, we searched scientific bibliographic data and concluded that dental caries and periodontal disease were major oral problems. Second, we developed new improved forms for National Oral Health Screening. To improve these forms, we reviewed previous forms and gathered expert opinions. The new forms were consistent with the examination forms given to all age groups, and information on oral health conditions, dental education needs, and post-treatment care was included in the modified forms. We then designed manuals for dentists, which contained information on the screening criteria as well as consultation and patient education guidelines. The manuals were divided into three parts, including explanation of the screening criteria, standard of the decision, and education and consultation guidelines. By using these new and modified National Oral Health Screening forms, we expect an improvement in the National Oral Health Screening Program and enhancement in the oral health condition of patients.
전분/펙틴 블렌드 필름의 기계적 물성 및 산소 투과도 연구

생분해성 및 수용성이며 식용 가능한 펙틴/전분 필름을 제조하여 기계적, 열적 특성, 흡습성 및 산소 투과도를 조사하였다. 필름의 인장 강도와 탄성률은 전분의 함량이 증가할수록 감소하였고, 신장률은 거의 영향이 없었다. 가소제 글리세롤의 함량이 증가할수록 인장 강도와 탄성률은 급격히 감소하나, 신장률은 조금 증가하였다. 높은 상대습도에 노출된 필름의 경우 탄성률과 인장 강도는 감소하였고, 신장률은 증가하였다. 흡수율은 글리세롤의 함량에 따라 변하지만, 펙틴/전분 비에 따라서는 큰 변화가 없었다. 펙틴/전분 블렌드 필름의 혐기성 생분해도는 전분의 함량이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 펙틴/전분 블렌드 필름의 산소 투과도는 전분의 함량이 증가할수록 산소 투과도는 높아졌으며, 가소제로 사용된 글리세롤의 양이 증가할수록 산소 투과도는 증가하였다. Mechanical and thermal properties, waterabsorption, and anaerobic biodegradability of pectin/starch blend film were observed. Tensile properties of pectin/starch blend films were strongly affected by the amount of glycerol and the ratio of pectidstarch. Tensile strength and modulus decreased as the content of glycerol increased while, the elongation at break increased. Water absorption of pectin/starch blend films was much affected by the amount of glycerol, where as the effect of pectidstarch content ratio on the water absorption property was not much. Biodegradability of film under anaerobic condition increased with increasing starch content. Oxygen permeability of pectin/starch blend films increased as the contents of starch and glycerol increased.
비구면 일체형 인공수정체 삽입 후 동공 크기가 시력에 미치는 영향

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of pupil size on uncorrected visual acuity and spherical aberration of the TECNIS 1-piece intraocular lens (IOL). Methods: In this study 61 eyes were implanted with a TECNIS 1-piece IOL. Pupil size was checked by standard pupil card with cobalt blue light postoperatively. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) were assessed postoperatively. Total spherical aberration and high-order aberration for mesopic pupil size zone were measured. Results: There were no significant differences of spherical equivalent, age, preoperative astigmatism, BCVA between two groups, but small pupil group revealed better UCVA (p = 0.02) and lower ocular aberration than large pupil group. Conclusions: After cataract surgery, pupil size greater than 5.0 mm increases total aberration. Thus, visual acuity with small pupil after aspheric TECNIS 1-piece IOL implantation show better clinical result on uncorrected visual acuity.
Triclosan 과 Pyrophosphate 및 Tranexamic acid 를 배합한 세치제의 치주질환원인균과 구취유발원인균에 대한 항균효과에 관한 연구

The antimicrobial effects of dentifrice containing triclosan, pyrophosphate and tranexamic acid against the pathogens of periodontal disease and halitosis such as Streptococcus sanguis, Actinomyces viscosus, Candida albicans, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, Capnocytophaga ochracea, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Prevotela intermedius, Phopyromonas gingivalis were evaluated with the agar dilution and paper disc methods. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Both the experimental dentifrice containing triclosan, pyrophosphate and tranexamic acid and the control dentifrice showed the antimicrobial activities on all the microorganisms tested. 2. The experimental dentifrice containing triclosan, pyrophosphate and tranexamic acid showed more effective antimicrobial activities on Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, Capnocytophaga ochracea, Phopyromonas gingivalis, relative to the control dentifrice.
Triclosan 을 배합한 세치제의 치은염완화효과와 치면세균막형성억제효과 및 구강질환원인균에 대한 항균효과에 관한 연구

A total of 62 adult male and female subjects began a 6-week, double-blind clinical study comparing the effect on gingivitis and plaque formation of a 0.2% triclosan-containing dentifrice to a placebo dentifrice. Placebo dentifrice had the same formulation with experimental dentifrice except it did not contain 0.2% triclosan. Subjects were divided by two balanced groups according to baseline plaque and gingivitis scores. Then, they were assigned to use either the the triclosan-containing dentifrice or the placebo dentifrice for the next 6weeks. Finally, 28 experimental and 24 control subjects completed 6 weeks of the study. Plaque index and gingival index were scored 3 times : before the study, after 4weeks of use of each dentifrice, after 8weeks of use of each dentifrice. Quigley-Hein Plaque index and Loe-Silness Gingival index were used to score each index. Also, the antimicrobial effects of a 0.2% triclosan-containing dentifrice against the pathogens of oral diseases such as Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Actinomyces viscosus, Fusobacterium nucleatum were evaluated with the agar dilution and paper disc methods. The results obtained were as follows: 1. After 6 weeks, the triclosan-containing dentifrice was shown to provide a 20.4% reduction in gingivitis, as compared to the placebo dentifrice, but not statistically significant(P>0.05). 2. After 6 weeks, the triclosan-containing dentifrice was shown to provide a statistically significant reduction in plaque formation, as compared to the placebo dentifrice(P<0.05). 3. The triclosan-containing dentifrice showed more effective antimicrobial activities on Lactobacillus acidophilus, Actinomyces viscosus, as compared to the placebo dentifrice.
