The safety of ICSI as a novel procedure of assisted fertilization may be assessed by the health of the baby born. In order to evaluate the safety of ICSI, perinatal outcome and congenital anomaly of the babies born after ICSI were compared with those of babies born after IVF (control group). We analysed the clinical data from the obstetric and pediatric records, including the information obtained through telephone. The results are as follows; Mean gestational age $({\pm}SEM)$ and birth weight in singleton pregnancy were $38.8{\pm}1.9$ weeks and $3209.7{\pm}501.9gm$ in IVF group, $39.0{\pm}2.2$ weeks and $3289.9{\pm}479.5gm$ in ICSI group, respectively. Mean gestational age and birth weight in twins were $36.8{\pm}2.1$ weeks and $2512.8{\pm}468.0gm$ in IVF group, $36.5{\pm}2.8$ weeks and $2492.7{\pm}537.1gm$ in ICSI group. In IVF group, perinatal mortality rates were 8.5 in singletons and 56.6 in twins; for the ICSI singletons and ICSI twins, the perinatal mortality rates were 11.6 and 49.0, respectively. The incidence of congenital malformations was 3.6% (8/224) in IVF group and 2.1% (4/188) in ICSI group, there was no statistical difference (p>0.05, Fisher's exact test). The incidence of major congenital anomalies was 0.9% (2/224; pulmonary artery hypoplasia, renal cystic dysplasia) in IVF group and 1.1% (2/188; holoprosencephaly, Cri du chat syndrome) in ICSI groups (p>0.05, Fisher's exact test). Similarly, there was no significant difference in incidence of minor congenital anormalies 2.7% (6/224) in IVF group and 1.1% (2/188) in ICSI group respectively (p>0.05, Fisher's exact test). In conclusion, there was no difference in the perinatal outcome and the incidence of congenital anomalies between the babies born after ICSI and those after conventional IVF.

Recently, in the seismic design focused on the Displacement- based design but it has not systematized because of insufficient its study. Especially, the shear wall as lateral-resistant system play an important part in the structure design due to efficiently withstand earthquake loading. The objective of this study is to suggest a suitable nonlinear analysis method to predict the structural behavior of high-rise RC wall structures that can not be tested on account of the difficulty of experiment and economical efficiency estimating. As a result of the static analysis to exist structures, the RWS-N specimen without opening was higher than the specimen with opening in ultimate strength. In addition, the strength was lower and the displacement was more higher especially in the low floor when the opening locate farther from the center of section. In result of the dynamic analysis to exist structures, the specimen without opening indicated that the higher strength and the lower displacement. The displacement also increased when the opening locate farther from the center of section. As previously discussed, the results of static and dynamic analysis showed the similar behavior in the ultimate strength and displacement

In Korea, over 4, 700 animal carcass disposal siteswere installed until 2011 due to the outbreak of foot and mouthdisease. Due to the putrefaction of buried animals, the leachatecontaining veterinary antibiotics may release into surroundingenvironments. Antibiotic residues in the environment cause theformation of antibiotic resistance bacteria threatening human andecosystem health. This study reports the concentrations of fiveantibiotics, including tetracycline (TC), chlortetracycline (CTC), oxytetracycline (OTC), sulfamethazine (SMZ), and sulfamethoxazole(SMX), in soils from animal carcass disposal site and adjacentagricultural field. Concentrations of antibiotics at animal carcassdisposal sites (TC: 144.26-350.73 μg/kg, SMZ: 17.72-44.94 μg/kg) were higher than those at agricultural field (TC: 134.16-320.73 μg/kg, SMZ: 6.48-8.85 μg/kg) whereas the concentrationsof CTC, OTC, and SMX were below detection limit in both sites. Results showed that the antibiotics in animal carcass site mightleach to the soil and possibly contaminating the groundwater. Future studies will focus on the transfer of antibiotics residues intofood crops.

Biochar (BC) from biomass pyrolysis is a carbonaceous material that has been used to remove various contaminants in the environment. The eliminatory action for burcucumber (Sicyos angulatus L.) as an invasive plant is being consistently carried out because of its harmfulness and ecosystem disturbance. In this study, burcucumber biomass was converted into BCs at different pyrolysis temperatures of 300 and 700oC under a limited oxygen condition. Produced BCs were characterized and investigated to ensure its efficiency on antibiotics’ removal in water. The adsorption experiment was performed using two different types of antibiotics, tetracycline (TC) and sulfamethazine (SMZ). For the BC pyrolyzed at a high temperature (700oC), the values of pH, electrical conductivity, and the contents of ash and carbon increased whereas the yield, mobile matter, molar ratios of H/C and O/C, and functional groups decreased. Results showed that the efficiency of BCs on antibiotics’ removal increased as pyrolysis temperature increased from 300 to 700°C (38 to 99% for TC and 6 to 35% for SMZ). The reaction of π-π EDA (electrondonor- acceptor) might be involved in antibiotics’ adsorption to BCs. BC has potential to be a superior antibiotics’ adsorbent with environmental benefit by recycling of waste/invasive biomass.

Objective : To broaden understanding about acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on AIDS and to promote base studies and clinical trials Materials and Methods : Analysis was given to more than 30 literatures including acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on AIDS-related sites explored by internet search engine named NAVER from Nov., 2000 to Feb. 20th, 2001 Results : 1. Acupuncture and moxibustion played great role as a complementary therapy in enabling AIDS patients to keep their antiretroviral therapy by enhancing immune system, ameliorating AIDS-related symptoms and side effect of antiretroviral drug 2. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy had a broad spectrum indication from systemic or local signs of AIDS patients to signs of antiretroviral drug-related side effect 3. Contraindication of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy against AIDS patients include abstraction and moxibustion on the skin lesion, because of their easy exposure to inflammation 4. AIDS patients were regarded as the state of KI-HE(氣虛), EUM-HE(陰虛), YEOL-DOK(熱毒) in general 5. BO-KI(補氣), BO-HYUL(補血), BO-EUM(補陰), CHEONG-YEOL-HAE-DOK(淸熱解毒) were shown as a principle of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for AIDS patients 6. Principle of selecting acupoints for AIDS patients had characteristics of enhancing immune system, detoxicating detrimental agents and relieving each AIDS related symptom appropriately 7. Acupuncture on 合谷(HAPKOK, LI4), 內關(NAE-GWAN, P6), 足三里(CHOK-SAMNI, S36) were applied to the early stage of AIDS in order to enhance immune system. Acupuncture on 血海(HYOLHAE, SP10), 三陰交(SAMUMGYO, SP6), (KOHWANG, B43) were applied to the intermediate stage of AIDS so as to enhance immune system and eliminate YEOL-DOK(熱毒) in blood. Moxibustion on 湧泉(YONGCHON, K1), 足三里(CHOK-SAMNI, S36) were applied to the late stage owing to enhance immune system more. Conclusion : The efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on AIDS has been acknowledged to the world, moreover, it is proved to be significant as a complementary therapy on AIDS patients. Thus, more control group studies of the efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on AIDS and clinical trials are considered to be necessary.
