Castleman disease is a rare disease entity of unknown etiology, with the characteristics of large, well marginated benign lymphoid masses occuring predominently in the mediastinum. The value of contrast enhancement in solid soft tissue masses of mediastinum has little been written because most of the solid mediastinal tumors show no significant degree of enhancement. But Castleman disease, because of its hypervacularity, show significant degree of enhancement in most cases. Authors report 3 cases of Castleman diseases and suggests good diagnostic probability of CAstleman disease in cases that show benign looking homogeneously enhancing mediastinal mass by CT scan.
디지털 유방영상에서 멀티영상 기반의 컴퓨터 보조 진단에 관한 연구

For the past decade, the full-field digital mammography has been widely used for early diagnosis of breast cancer, and computer aided diagnosis has been developed to assist physicians as a second opinion. In this study, we try to predict the breast cancer using both mediolateral oblique(MLO) view and craniocaudal(CC) view together. A skilled radiologist selected 35 pairs of ROIs from both MLO view and CC view of digital mammogram. We extracted textural features using Spatial Grey Level Dependence matrix from each mammogram and evaluated the generalization performance of the classifier using Support Vector Machine. We compared the multi-view based classifier to single-view based classifier that is built from each mammogram view. The results represent that the multi-view based computer aided diagnosis in digital mammogram could improve the diagnostic performance and have good possibility for clinical use to assist physicians as a second opinion.

카포시 육종은 후천성면역결핍증후군에서의 가장 흔한 악성종양이다. 파종성 카포시 육종은 인체의 어느 기관에도 발현될 수 있다. 한국에서는 아직까지 후천성면역결핍증후군 환자에서 폐에 발현된 카포시 육종의 증례보고가 없었다. 저자들은 부검으로 확진된 폐의 카포시 육종 1예를 보고하고자 한다. Kaposi sarcoma is the most common malignancy in aquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), and when disseminated may involve any organ system. Pulmonary involvement of Kaposi sarcoma in AIDS patients has not been previously reported in Korea and we report one such case, confirmed pathologically at autopsy.

Recently, computers are more and more widely used in many aspects of medicine, including education, and using computers to assist in traditional learning has many advantages. Authors developed Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) systems, which were consisted of Apple II computer and VTR controlled by the computer to present X-ray images and meticulously designed questions with computer aided feed back alternately to facilitate the understanding of the students. So authors present the one of the CAL program. Bone and Joint Radiology , in detail to introduce the perspective of the system and discuss the benefit of the CAL system and the advantage and disadvantage of the image presentation by the VTR. With recent advance in computer technology, presentation of the better quality images and random access to the image files are enabled that CAL system vill give greater benefit to the traditional education and the development of the better designed CAL system and program is expected.
