On the basis of vegetation data by point quarter sampling method, the natural forest of Jirisan(Mt.) was classified into eight forest types by cluster analysis. They were Quercus mogolica forest type, Fraxinus mandshurica - Betula costata forest type, Mixed mesophytic forest type, Abies koreana forest type, Carpinus laxiflora forest type, Quercus serrata forest type, Pinus densiflora forest type, and Quercus variabilis forest type. Then, succession index was estimated for each forest type so as to evaluate succession process comparatively among forest types. The results showed that Carpinus laxiflora forest type had highest succession index of 219.7, followed by Mixed mesophytic forest type with little difference of the index of 218.3. Pinus densiflora forest type had lowest index. Succession indices were hardly correlated with species diversity indices of forest types. We presumed that the higher value of succession index a forest type had, the closer toward the climax forest. However, the estimated index was not supposed to be absolute level of successional stage, but it could play a role of comparative assessment in the position of the seral stage among forest types.

본 연구의 목적은 극상지수를 이용해 군집별 천이지수를 추정하여 각 군집의 천이 진행정도를 파악하고자 한다. 지리산 일대 천연림을 대상으로 점표본법을 이용하여 298개의 표본점에서 식생자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 Cluster분석을 실시해 7개의 군집으로 분류하였다. 군집의 속성을 밝히기 위해 수종구성과 종다양성을 분석하였으며 상층 수종구성을 바탕으로 군집의 이름을 명명하였다. 군집별 천이 진행정도를 파악하기 위한 천이지수는 수종의 극상지수와 수종이 군집 구성의 기여도를 설명해주는 상대밀도를 사용하여 표준화하였다. 또한 종다양성지수는 출현하는 종의수와 종내 개체수가 다를 때 그 영향을 반영하기 위해서 인자로 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 중생혼합림의 천이지수가 163.3으로 가장 높은 값을 보였고, 신갈나무우점군집이 109.5, 서어나무군집이 103.0, 구상나무군집이 99.8, 졸참나무군집이 75.1, 들메나무군집이 50.5 순이었으며, 신갈나무순림이 33.7로 가장 낮은 값을 보였다. 천이지수가 높다는 것은 천이계열 상 극상림에 보다 가까이 근접하였다는 가정 아래, 중생혼효림형이 극상을 향하여 천이가 가장 많이 진행되었다고 판단한다. 추정된 천이지수는 절대값에 의미를 두기보다 각 군집간의 천이계열의 위치를 비교할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. This study was conducted to understand the level of successional process by estimation of succession index for community types in the natural forest of Mt. Jiri area. Based on the vegetation data collected by the point-centered quarter sampling method, the study area was classified into 7 forest community types by cluster analysis. The succession index was developed through standardization of climax index and relative density of composed tree species plus species diversity index in the corresponding forest community. The results showed that Mixed mesophytic forest community had the greatest succession index value of 163.3, followed by Quercus mongolica community 109.5, Carpinus laxiflora community 103.0, Abies koreana community 99.8, Quercus serrata community 75.1, Fraxinus mandshurica community 50.5, Quercus mongolica pure community had the smallest value of 33.7. It is presumed that the higher value of succession index in a certain forest community indicates the closer position to the climax stage in terms of sere spectrum. We thought Mixed mesophytic forest community to have made most rapid succession progress toward climax among community types. However, estimated succession index in the forest does not mean the absolute level of successional stage, but comparative assessment in the position of the seral stage among forest communities.

Generalized syringoma is a rare variant of syringoma, whose incidence peaks during childhood and adolescence, with no difference seen in either sex. It frequently affects the chest, neck, abdomen and axilla, and occasionally shows spontaneous regression. A 34-year-old woman presented with pruritic, multiple, 1~3 mm sized, light-brownish papules on the chest, abdomen, and back. One year before, she had been diagnosed as having verruca plana at a private dermatologic clinic and had received immunotherapy, but experienced disappointing results. Histologically, the disorder showed numerous dilated eccrine ducts lined by two rows of epithelial cells. We herein report a case of generalized syringoma misdiagnosed as verruca plana, plus a review of the literature. (Korean J Dermatol 2006;44(12):1441~1443)

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify active fraction and components from antiplatelet Ulmi cortex extract. Methods : The 70% ethanol extract of Ulmi cortex was subjected to column chromatography over D101 resinand eluted with an 20% (W1), 30% (W2), 40% (W3), 50%(W4), 70% (W5), and 100% ethanol (W6) to yield 6 fractions. W6 was further fractioned and its active components were purified using semi-preparative HPLC. The isolated compounds were identified by MS and NMR, and their contents were simultaneously analyzed using HPLC/UV. Antiplatelet aggregation activities of the fractions and the compounds were evaluated using rat platelet-rich plasma in presence of collagen (5 μg/ml), arachidonic acid (0.05 U/ml), or thrombin (100 μM). Results : Among six fractions, W3 prominently inhibited platelet aggregation. At the concentration of 200μg/ml, W3 strongly inhibited arachidonic acid- and collagen-induced platelet aggregations by 78.2% and 65.9%, respectivley, and weakly inhibited thrombin-inducded platelet aggregation by 32.6%. Catechin, epicatehin, and catechin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside were isolated from W3 and their contents were revealed to be 15.1%, 0.87%, and 0.32%. Catechin and epicatechin at the concentrations of 100 μM strongly inhibited collagen-induced platelet aggregation by 79.9% and 86.6%, respectively, but weakly inhibited arachidonic acid- and thrombin-induced platelet aggregations. Conclusions : A main active principle of anitplatelet Ulmi Cortex extract is W3 fraction, of which main active component is catechin considering its antiplatelet activity and content.
추이행렬 모델에 의한 수종 구성 변화를 중심으로 천연활엽수림의 천이 경향 추정에 관한 연구

가리왕산 일대 천연활엽수림을 대상으로 수행한 선행 연구에서 분류된 5개의 산림군집에 대하여 미래 수종 구성의 변화를 바탕으로 천이 경향을 추정하였다. 미래의 수종구성 변화의 예측은 Markov chain의 수학적 이론을 응용한 추이행렬모델을 이용하였다. 식생 표본구내에서 상층 우세목의 아래에서 생육하는 하층목에 의해서 세대가 교체될 것이라는 가정적 확률을 바탕으로 수종 구성의 변화를 예측하였다. 각 군집의 미래 수종 구성 변화를 예측한 결과, 신갈나무군집에서는 고로쇠나무, 물푸레나무, 피나무, 팥배나무가 상층을 우점할 것으로 예측되었다. 신갈나무-들메나무-물푸레나무군집에서는 고로쇠나무, 피나무, 물푸레나무, 복장나무가 우점할 것으로 예측되었다. 박달나무-신갈나무군집에서는 고로쇠나무, 물푸레나무, 피나무, 난티나무가 우점할 것으로 예측되었다. 중생혼합림에서는 고로쇠나무, 물푸레나무, 피나무, 복장나무가 우점할 것으로 예측되었다. 거제수나무-난티나무 군집에서는 고로쇠나무, 물푸레나무, 피나무가 우점할 것으로 예측되었다. 모든 군집의 중층에서는 당단풍나무의 우점이 크게 증가할 것으로 예측되었다. 현재 각 군집에서 상층을 우점하고 있는 신갈나무, 거제수나무, 박달나무의 우점은 줄어들고 고로쇠나무, 물푸레나무, 피나무 등의 수종이 우점하는 군집으로 발달해 갈 것으로 예측된다. For 5 forest communities which were previously classified by cluster analysis in the natural deciduous forest of Gariwangsan area, the successional trend was estimated from the change of species composition by transition matrix model. The model was modified from mathematical theory of Markov chain, examining the subsequent process of tree-by-tree replacement by understory saplings for the dominant canopy trees. Dominance of A. pictum subsp. mono, F. rhynchophylla, T. amurensis, and S. alnifolia was predicted to increase in overstory of Q. mongolica community. In Q. mongolica - F. mandshurica - F. rhynchophylla, dominance of A. pictum subsp. mono, T. amurensis, F. rhynchophylla and A. mandshuricum was predicted to increase in overstory. Dominance of A. pictum subsp. mono, F. rhynchophylla, T. amurensis, and U. laciniata was predicted to increase in overstory of B. schmidtii - Q. mongolica community. In Mixed mesophytic community, dominance of A. pictum subsp. mono, F. rhynchophylla, T. amurensis and A. mandshuricum was predicted to increase in overstory. Dominance of A. pictum subsp. mono, F. rhynchophylla and T. amurensis was predicted to increase in overstory of B. costata - U. laciniata community. Dominance of A. pseudosieboldianum was predicted to increase abruptly in midstory of all communities.
