Generally speaking, because of complexity of engineering process, the systems engineering may be not easy to understand clearly and not easy to perform also. The status of systems engineering infrastructure of the some Korean industry is not matured yet, i.e., the systems engineering process, method, tool and environment is not implemented consistently within the steel making industry. These difficulties are more severe at the concept and basic design phase than the detail design phase relatively. Korean industry has lots of development project for the precedented systems and usually has matured domain knowledge for the precedented systems. Even though there is a mature domain knowledge of the precedented systems, the development project will lead to failure under the condition of engineering system is not well equipped. For the project success, it is very important to have a proper engineering execution system especially for the concept design and basic phase, which has a high abstraction and a large influence on the whole project. This paper proposes a minimized design process that can be easily applied to the concept and basic design phase of the precedented systems, instead of complex system engineering processes. This paper also proposes the application case of the minimized design process and methods for a Blast Furnace System.

The Yongin Light Rail train was manufactured by Bombardier Transportation in Canada in 2008 and is a privately invested railway line that has been operating in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, since 2013. When the frequency of train failure increases due to aging, and there is a delay in the delivery period of imported parts used in the Bombardier manufactured trains, timely vehicle maintenance may not be performed due to lack of parts. To solve this problem, it is necessary to build a 'vehicle parts maintenance demand forecasting system' that analyzes the accurate and actual maintenance demand annual based on the condition of vehicle parts. The full scope of analysis in this paper analyzes failure data from various angles after opening of Yongin light rail vehicle to analyze failure patterns for each part and identify replacement cycles according to possible failures and consumption of parts. Based on this study, it is expected that Yongin Light Rail's maintenance system will change from the existing time-based replacement (TBM) concept to the condition-based maintenance (CBM) concept. It is expected that this study will improve the efficiency of the Yongin Light Rail maintenance system and increase vehicle availability. This paper is a fundamental for establishing of a system for predicting the replacement timing of vehicle parts for Yongin Light Rail. It reports the results of data analysis on some vehicle parts.
해상환경에서 운영 가능한 다목적 무인기 시스템 요구능력에 관한 연구

In this paper, we report the results of a conceptual study to develop of a multi-purpose medium-sized UAV that can safely perform missions in harsh maritime environments. In this study, we focused on developing UAVs capable of performing three maritime missions that urgently require the application of medium-sized UAVs: marine ecosystem management, ocean surveillance system, and response to marine accidents. Furthermore improvement points for the above three naval missions using medium-sized UAVs were derived in preparation for the problems of the existing mission performance. Finally, by developing and analyzing the utilization scenario of the medium-class UAV, the required performance suitable for each mission was defined and assigned to the related mission equipment, A new maritime management plan was proposed using the medium-class UAV system equipped with replaceable mission equipment.

Systems engineering is being applied to various fields of industry such as national defense, aerospace, transportation, railway, and information technology industries. But in Korea, systems engineering has been selectively applied to government-driven projects such as space rocket development projects and unmanned flight development projects. And systems engineering processes introduced from international systems engineering standards has been directly applied to those projects. Unfortunately, this application method is not recommended as it requires highly experienced systems engineers. From our previous paper, we have proposed that domain specific engineering standards should be developed to be used as references for development of organizational engineering guide, so that more successful engineering performances can be achieved. And in this paper we have proposed a refinement of systems engineering processes from international systems engineering standards as they are bases of domain specific engineering standards.

For the systems engineering process-based development, all requirements of 'Smart UAV Development Program' have been constructed as the database of CORE(R), computer aided systems engineering tool. In this paper, the construction and application of model-based test & evaluation system using those database is described, which prevents omitting essential tests and performing unnecessary rests and enables automatic reflection of database changes and standardization of document formats.

Systematic performance evaluation of the Defense Acquisition Program is very important, since they are directly related to national security. In this paper, we reviewed various performance evaluation models from a methodological perspective for pragmatic performance evaluation, and the limitations of each model. In order to evaluate the performance of the Defense acquisition program efficiently, especially for the Naval ship Projects and considering their unique characteristics, both various stakeholders' participation, standard indicators for performance measurement, and tailoring them considering the projects' circumstances are necessary. We also propose indicators, contents, and detailed criteria example for the Requirements management. This approach enables a pragmatic and consistent evaluation of defense projects, and through this, meaningful insights could be acquired with accumulate data.

This paper describes a requirement architecture modeling for the front end of KT-1 export version requirement definition processes to construct SDS(system development specification). The requirement definition process is a highly conceptual process that is difficult to carry out. This paper focuses on how to perform the KT-1 export version requirements definition process including the integration of process, methods and tools for the front-end activity of requirements definition process. This requirement model is structured in four segments, including requirement layering, requirement categorization, life cycle stakeholder and requirement definition process using Computer-Aided Systems Engineering tool(CORE).
