Directional solidification experiments were carried out at $1-300\;{\mu}m/sec$ solidification rates in the single crystal superalloy, CMSX 10. The solid/liquid interface morphology changed from planar to dendritic, and the dendrite spacing became finer as the solidification rate increased. The pool size of the ${\gamma}/{\gamma}'$ eutectic, formed between dendrites, reduced as the solidification rate increased. The phase formation temperatures, such as the solidus, liquidus and eutectic, were estimated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis. The morphology of the ${\gamma}/{\gamma}'$ phase, known to be eutectic, showed ${\gamma}'$ cells with a $\gamma$ intercellular network, and this ${\gamma}/{\gamma}'$ was composed of coarse and fine ${\gamma}/{\gamma}'$ regions. In this study, it is suggested that the ${\gamma}/{\gamma}'$ phase was a coupled peritectic.The solidification procedure of the ${\gamma}/{\gamma}'$ between dendrites is also discussed.

N/A There has been a considerable interest to develop the silicide alloys as high temperature structural materials because of their excellent high temperature stability and strength, however, their lack of room temperature ductility and toughness was a main obstacle for the application. In order to improve ductility while maintaining good high temperature properties, possible refractory metal-silicide eutectic alloys composed of fine two phases were prepared by VAR(Vacuum Arc Remelting). Three silicide alloys, Nb-Nb₃Si, Ti-Ti_5Si₃, V-V₃Si, were selected as prospecting silicide eutectics and those high temperature characteristics were evaluated by high temperature compression test.

After the World Trade Center attacks in New York by terrorist on September 11, 2001, the international Organization have actively developed a number of initiative focusing on logistic security issues. WCO developed a regime in order to enhance the security and facilitation of international trade, which was the WCO Framework of Standard to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade. The Countries have developed customs administrations and cargo information system by the standard of WCO. Customs Data between countries is be exchanged to order to enhance logistic security. Customs Data between countries is be implemented by needs of countries. Korea progressed demonstration project of Customs Data between countries with Malaysis, Belgium, Philippines, Russia and exchanged third two items of descriptions, quantity, weight electronically. The swap of Customs Data between countries is not effective because the Countries of Exchange of Customs Data between Countries is be elected without the principles and standards randomly. The criteria that select the Countries of Exchange of Customs Data between Countries proposed follows, Firstly, the major trading countries of korea. Second, Countries concluded FTA Agreements, Third, Countries for risk management. Fourth, Countries implemented advance presentation of cargo manifest. Fifth, Countries concluded AEO MRA, Sixth Countries implemented WCO Data Model, Seventh, Countries implemented UCR, Finally, Countries implemented Single Window. USA, Canada, Japan, China, England, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Belgium is elected for the Countries of Exchange of Customs Data between Countries by above selection standard.

Co base superalloys have been widely used for the parts of gas turbine due to their excellent strength, thermal fatigue, oxidation resistance and weldability at high temperature. In this study, directional solidifications were carried out at various solidification rates, including 0.5~300 μm/s in the Co base superalloy FSX-414. The cellular interface were formed at a low solidification rate, 1 μm/s, and the dendritic interface was found at higher solidification rates, 5~300 μm/s. As the spacing of dendrite structure decreased, the size and spacing of eutectics decreased. Dendrite arm spacing decreased with increasing solidification rates and temperature gradient. It was interesting to find the M23C6 eutectic microstructure formed between γ dendrites. Composition analysis showed that Cr and W were segregated severely between the dendrites, which resulted in the formation of Cr-rich M23C6 and W-rich MC carbides.

Due to excellent abrasion resistance the high-chrome white irons are widely used in mining and mineral industries. Minor variation of carbon content in 28% chrome white iron resulted in difference in primarily solidified microstructure. Sub-eutectic (hypoeutectic) a) composition led to formation of primarily solidified dendrites. Formation of primarily solidified dendrites which were supersaturated with carbon and chrome also caused precipitation of fine secondary carbides that are different from relatively large plate type M7C3 carbides in the eutectic structure. Small portion of primarily solidified dendrite expected to contribute significantly to the improvement of abrasion resistance of the white iron because the dendrites provided mechanical support to carbides. The relative fraction of primary dendrite increased with reduction of carbon content from the eutectic composition. The increased fraction of primary dendrite increased hardness value of the white irons.
