In this paper, limitation of rigid-plastic finite element method caused from rigid-plasticity assumption and numerical problem is investigated in detail and a useful scheme is proposed to get rid of the plastic deformation in rigid or elastic region, A typical example of a possible long bar extrusion process is given, which may be impossible to simulate without using the proposed scheme. The scheme is successfully applied to simulating the long bolt forging process.

A series of azido-functionalized ladder-like structures was prepared by direct azidation of ladder-likestructured poly(p-chloromethylphenyl)silsesquioxane (LPCMPSQ) and poly(chloropropyl)silsesquioxane (LPAPSQ)in excellent yields with perfect substitution of the chloro-compounds. The azido-functionalized silsesquioxanesobtained were then photocured without additional photoinitiator to give highly cross-linked thin films with an exceptionallyhigh modulus (> 12 GPa). Furthermore, these materials were shown to be patterned through photolithographyto give impeccable micropatterned microstructures.

A ladder-like structured poly(mercaptopropyl)silsesquioxane (LPMPSQ) was synthesized in one-bath,under mildly basic conditions at room temperature. Obtained LPMPSQ was utilized as a macroinitiator for thiol-enegraft photopolymerization of various vinyl monomers to give hard, soft, hydrophobic, and hydrophilic graft copolymerswith low PDI (<1.4). Synthesized hybrid graft copolymers were characterized by 1H NMR, 29Si NMR, FTIR,GPC, TGA, and DSC. Thermal studies with these hybrid graft copolymers revealed that the ladder-structure substantiallyincreased the thermal stabilities in the form of increased glass transition temperatures and higher degradationtemperatures over their organic analogues.

The availability of in-depth accident data is a prerequisite for each efficient traffic safety management system. Identification and definition of the relevant problem together with knowledge of the data and parameters describing this problem is essential for its successful solution. Comprehensive, up-to-date, accident data is needed for recognition of the scope of road safety problems and for raising public awareness. Reliable and relevant data enable the identification of the contributory factors of the individual accidents, and an unveiling of the background of the risk behaviour of the road users. It offers the best way to explore the prevention of accidents, and ways to implement measures to reduce accident severity. In this study, reviewing the existing iGlad and GIDAS system, KIDAS data format can be finalized through feasibility evaluation. The progressive approach is proposed to successful settlement of Korea in-depth accident study. As the initial stage of in-depth investigation DB construction, the KIDAS is not repetition of the current police based TAAS. It is essential part of improving vehicle safety and reduction of traffic fatality in Korea. 72 Contributing factors like road and traffic characteristics, vehicle parameters, and information about the people involved in the accident have to be investigated and registered as well in the KIDAS.

In industrially advanced countries, environmentally conscious machining was eagerly studied because of ecological and economical reasons. As the environmental regulations become stricter, new machining technologies which take environmental aspects into consideration are being developed Industry and research institutions established applications for dry, semi-dry, oil-mist and compressed cold air machining. This paper investigates the performance of new compressed cold air system for environmentally conscious machining and evaluates machinability of dry and new compressed cold air machining. A series of tests are carried out using measuring eqipments under dry and compressed cold air machining.

In this paper, three-dimensional finite element analysis of screw rolling process of a long shaft bolt is conducted by using a rigid-plastic finite element method based metal forming simulator AFDEX 3D. A whole sequence of cold forming processes of a long shaft bolt composed of forging and screw rolling processes is simulated to reveal the mechanism of screw formation. A mesh density control function is applied near the major plastic deformation region to achieve computational efficiency.
Synthesis and Characterization of Ladder-like Structured Polysilsesquioxane with Carbazole Group

Poly(propyl carbazole silsesquioxane) (PPCSQ) with a high molecular weight (M_w = 10,200) was synthesized by the direct hydrolysis of 9-[3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl]-9H-carbazole with K_2CO_3, followed by a condensation reaction in an H_2O/dimethylformamide (DMF) mixture solvent at 25℃. The obtained PPCSQ consisted of ladder-like structured siloxane bonds with carbarzole groups as the pendant group, where the distance between two carbarzole pendant groups through the siloxane backbone was 15.6 Å and the mean thickness of the siloxane backbone was 4.3 Å. This PPCSQ was thermally stable up to 450 ℃ and the glass transition temperature was ca. 95 ℃,showing good film formablity by spin casting.

In this paper, three-dimensional finite element analysis of screw rolling process of a 12 point flange head bolt is conducted using a rigid-plastic finite element method based metal forming simulator AFDEX 3D. An analysis model is proposed to carry out detailed simulation of thread formation, especially prediction of volcano shape crest. The model is composed of a slice of material, two artificial symmetric planes, and two tapered or flat thread rolling dies. It is applied to a thread rolling process of the 12 point flange bolt with multi-thread and small pitch and depth and the formation of thread including the volcano shape crest is revealed in detail.
