Objective : To identify the risk factors for postmenopausal osteoporosis in Korea Materials and methods : Bone mineral density (BMD) at the lumbar spine and femoral neck was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in 808 apparently normal postmenopausal Korean women. Questions about life style, demographic parameters, medical history and social habits etc. were asked on these women; 2ll women with normal bone mineral density, and 597 women with osteopenia or osteoporosis. Results 'Age of >50 years, low body mass index (BMI; <18.5 kg/m2), long duration of menopause(>10 years), and previous history of fracture were associated with increased prevalence of osteopenia or osteoporosis. Women without the outside activity also showed a higher frequency of low bone mass, Risk for osteopenia or osteoporosis was low in women with high BMI (>23 kg/m2) and women with job. The prevalence of low bone mass appeared to be independent of the following parameters: socioeconomic status, familial history, smoking, drinking, exercise, previous use of oral contraceptive, coffee or milk consumption, and degree of sunlight exposure. Conclusion 'Age, BMI, duration of menopause, previous history of fracture and degree of outside activity are the risk factors for postmenopausal osteoporosis in Korea.
단위 역률을 갖는 3상 BUCK 다이오드 정류기에서의 새로운 DC 리플-전압 저감 기법

본 논문에서는 3상 강압형 다이오드 정류기에서 출력전압의 저주파 리플 전압을 감소시키기 위한 새로운 제어기법을 제안한다. 제안한 펄스 주파수 변조 기법은 강압형 다이오드 정류기의 출력전압과 넓은 부하 범위에 대한 주 스위치의 영전류 스위칭을 보장하기 위해 적용된다. 본 논문에서 적용된 펄스 주파수 변조 기법은 일반적으로 입력전류의 낮은 고조파의 단위 역률의 장점을 지니고 있다. 또한 출력전압에서 보여진 저주파 리플전압을 감소시키기 위해 효과적으로 사용되어진다. 제안된 제어기법을 자세하게 설명하며 그 타당성을 검증하기 위해 시뮬레인션 및 실험을 통하여 검증한다. A technique to suppress the low frequency ripple voltage of the DC output ${\gamma}$oltage in three-phase buck d diode rectifiers is presented in this paper. The proposed pulse frequency modulation method is employed to r regulate the output voltage of the buck diode rectifiers and guarantee zero-current switching of the switch over the Vvide load range. The pulse frequency control method used in tIns paper shows generally good p performance such as low THD of the input line current and unity power factor. In addition, the pulse f freιluency method can be effectively used to suppress the low frequency voltage ripple appeared in the dc output voltage. The proposed technique illustrates its validity and effectiveness through the respective s simulations and experiments.

N/A Recently the prevalence of malaria has been increasing around the world and there is an increasing concern about exogenous malaria in none-endemic areas. We report 21 cases of imported malaria seen at the Baptist Hospital from August 1982 to December 1987 with a review of the literatures. The following is a summary of the findings. 1) All cases were physically active men with a mean age of 35.7 years. 2) The majority (71%) of patients had malaria imported from Africa. 3) Plasmodium falciparum infection was more prevalent (76%) than any other species. 4) 76% of the patients were afflicted with malaria before their return to Korea. 5) 23.8% of the patients had serious complications such as cerebral malaria, blackwater fever, and acute renal insufficiency. 6) 9 cases were chloroquine-sensitive and 11 cases were chloroquine-resistant. We should be cognizant of the risks, the necessity for chemoprophylaxis of travelers, and the difficulties in the diagnosis and treatment of malaria.
A제철사 위험성평가 운영 실태 및 유해성 위험성 개선방안 연구

본 연구는 A제철사 대상으로 위험성평가 실태 분석을 수행하여 “유해성 · 위험성” 개선방안을 제철산업에 적합한 위험성평가 구축 방향성을 제시하고자 했다. 상기 연구목적을 위해, 본 연구는 A제철사 위험성평가 시스템인 표준관리시스템(Safety Keeper)에 기반한 위험성평가 검증 도구를 8단계로 구축하여 A제철사 5개 사업장 123개 부서를 대상으로 사례 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 위험성평가 유무 및 시스템 내 정보 일치는 수시로 변화하는 작업 항목에 대한 위험성평가 업데이트 여부로서, 규모가 작은 사업장들 점수가 더 높았다. 정기, 수시 평가 이행 정도 및 개선 결과에 대한 조치 등 형식적 차원이 강한 항목에서는 모든 규모의 사업장들 점수가 전반적으로 우수했으며. 위험성평가 참여, 승인 점수는 모든 규모 사업장들 점수가 전반적으로 저조했다. 마지막으로 위험성평가 내용 적정성의 경우 규모가 가장 영세한 E사업장이 가장 높았으나, 규모가 역시 작은 D사업장의 점수가 가장 저조했다. 이러한 결과에 따라, 본 연구는 제철산업 사업장 규모별로 위험성평가 수행 및 결과 개선을 위한 실무적, 학문적 전략을 각각 제시했다. This study examined the actual condition of risk assessments for steel company A to suggest a direction for establishing risk assessments suitable for the steel industry to improve hazards and risks. For the above research, this study established an eight-step risk assessment verification tool based on the standard management system (Safety Keeper), a risk assessment system of Steel A, and analyzed cases targeting 123 departments in five workplaces of Steel A. conducted. The presence of risk assessments and the matching of information within the system include whether or not the risk assessment is updated for frequently changing work items, and small-scale workplaces have higher scores. Regarding items with strong formal dimensions, such as the degree of implementation of regular and ad hoc evaluations and measures for improvement results, workplaces of all sizes scored excellent overall. The risk assessment participation and approval scores were generally low for all businesses of all sizes. Finally, regarding the adequacy of the risk assessment contents, E workplace, which is the smallest in size, had the highest score, but D workplace, which was also small, had the lowest score. Based on these results, this study presented practical and academic strategies for performing risk assessments and improving the results by the size of the steel industry workplace.
