This paper presents the results of some measurement of the fluctuating velocity field in the turbulent boundary layer disturbed by a triangular prism and discusses the discovery of the disturbed boundary layer. A prism of height 8mm was used for experiments. The streamwise location of the prism was fixed at 1200mm downstream from the leading edge and the space between the prism center and the wall was set at three different values, 6, 15 and 33.5mm. The results show that the near-wall region of the disturbed boundary layer recovers original state much more quickly than the outer region. In the case h=6mm the recovery is faster than the other cases. Moreover, it was found that peak of fluctuating velocities moves outwards somewhat rapidly with increasing ${\times}$ mainly due to the turbulent diffusion of the fluctuating velocity.

A high-speed and intelligent CNC system has been developed by Turbotek Co., Ltd. This paper presents the study for commercialization of the developed CNC system. In order to acquire stability and reliability of the developed CNC system, its hardwares and softwares are improved. The CNC main unit is revised to a compact box-type CNC controller. Moreover, the integrated CNC main unit that has built-in and expandable I/O modules is also developed. Remote monitoring, fault diagnosis and NURBS interpolation functions are realized on the CNC system as software modules. Through these efforts, the developed CNC system can be loaded on machine tools successfully.

CNC technology is used in carious industrial fields, whose best example is the product part. The technology has been applied to machine tools such as automatic lathes and machining centers, etc. Recently, CNC technology has been applied not only to industrial parts but also to consumer part such as dental prosthesis and 3D face carving machine. In this paper, we introduce the application of the CNC technology to the 3D face carving machine, which the public has been not familiar with yet. It enables general users to control the machine and get the product with ease. We also mention examples of the application of the technology to the related fields and the way open CNC technology is used in controlling the calving machine.
Dielectric functions of poly-phenylenevinylene derivatives

We have measured the dielectric function of poly 2-methoxy-5-hexyloxy phenylenevinylene (MHPPV) and the alternating copolymers with N-hexylphenothiazine (HPPV-co-HPhz, MHPPV-co-HPhz) grown on glass using variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry at room temperature. Using the parametric optical constant model, we estimated the dielectric function of each polymer and also determined the band gap parameters, such as threshold energy, broadening, and amplitude We also determined the band gap parameters by performing lineshape curve-fitting on the second derivative of the fit dielectric function using standard critical point model, and compared to those of the parametric optical constant model. We discussed the shift of band gap parameters in terms of the chemical structures
