가미대강활탕(加味大羌活湯)이 Collagen 2로 유발된 관절염에 미치는 영향

Objectives: This study was carried out to understand the immunity responses and anti-oxidation effect of the Gamidaeganghwal-tang(GDT) on rheumatoid arthritis by using the THP-1 cells and the serum of CIA mice. Methods: For this purpose, GDT was orally administerd to mice with rheumatoid arthritis induced by collagen 2. To investigate the immunity responses, value of cytokine and gene expression in the THP-1 cell, levels of cytokines in the serum of CIA(collagen type II induced arthritis) mice, number of immunocyte in PBMC of CIA mice were measured. Then, anti-oxidant activity, scavenging activity on DHHP(2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) free radical and SOD(Superoxide dismutae)-like activity of GDT was observed. Results: 1. The levels of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, MCP-1 at 100, 50 ㎍/㎖ of GDT were significantly reduced in the THP-1 cell. 2. The levels of TNF-α, COX-2 mRNA expression at 100, 50 ㎍/㎖ of GDT and IL-1β, IL-6 at 100 ㎍/㎖ of GDT were significantly reduced in the THP-1 cell line. 3. The levels of IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β were significantly reduced in the serum of CIA mice. 4. The absolute number of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ cells were significantly induced, CD3+/CD69+, CD3+/CD49+, CD19+, B220+/CD23+ cells were significantly reduced in PBMC. 5. Scavenging activity on DPPH free radical and SOD-like activity were significantly induced in a concentration dependent manner. Conclusions: Taking all these observations, GDT considered to be effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore we have to survey continuously in looking for the effective substance and mechanism in the future.
복분자(覆盆子), 석창포(石菖蒲), 상침자 및 숙지황(熟地黃)이 모발성장(毛髮成長)과 면포에 미치는 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究)

The effects of four extracts of medicinal herbs, Rubus coreanum, Acorus calamus, Morus alba and Rehmannia glutinosa on hair growth activity and acnes control were investigated. In the course of screening natural extracts for hair growth, we found that the extract of dried root of Rubus coreanum has the hair growth promoting effect. After topical application of these extracts to the back of C57BL/6 mice, the earlier conversion of telogen-to-anagen phase was induced. The growth of dermal papilla cells and mouse vibrissae hair follicle cultured in vitro, however, was not affected by treatment of these extracts. Furthermore these extracts do not possesspotent inhibitory effect on $5{\alpha}-reductase$ I and II activity and anti-bacterial effect on Escherichia coli , Propionibacterium acnes, Pityrosporum ovale, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidemidis, and Candida albicans. RT-PCR analysis showed that these extracts did notinduce mRNA levels of growth factors such as insulin-like growth factor-I, keratinocyte growth factor, hepatocyte growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor in dermal papilla cells. These results suggest that Rubus coreanum has hair growth promoting effect. However, the effects of these materials on the hair growth promotion are not mediated through inhibition of $5{\alpha}-reductase$ I and II activity, stimulation of hair follicle cells and expression of growth factors in the dermal papilla cells.
마황포황탕이 비만생쥐의 비만유전자 및 관련인자에 미치는 영향

In this study, the aim was to investigate the effect of Mahwangpohang-tang on the expression of obesity-related genes and cytokines in high fat diet induced obesity mice. In order to investigate the effects of Mahwangpohang-tang(MHPH) on the obesity-related genes and cytokines, C57BL/6 mice were fed with high fat diet. C57BL/6 mice were divided into three groups and fed for 13weeks. Body weight change, diet intake change, final increase of body weight, the ratio of the adipocyte in body weight, the expression of leptin gene in primary adipocytes, the expression of UCP-2 in primary adipocytes, the production change of $TNF-\alpha$ and leptin in primary adipocytes, the expression of leptin in adipocytes tissue. The body weight of Mahwangpohang-tang(MHPH) intake mice was significantly lower than high fat diet group. The amount of the adipocyte in body weight was decreased Significantly. In primary adipocytes, leptin gene expression and the expression of UCP-2 did not change significantly. In primary adipocytes, the amount of $TNF-\alpha$ was significantly decreased at dose of $100{\mu}/ml$ density. In adipocytes tissue, the expression of leptin did not change significantly. These results suggest that MHPH may inhibit the expression of obesity-related genes and cytokines in high fat diet induced obesity mice
마황복합방(麻黃複合方) 2호(號)가 고지방사료(高脂肪飼料) 식이(食餌)로 유발(誘發)된 비만(肥滿) 생쥐의 혈액 및 조직학적 변화에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objective : This experimental study was designed to investigate the effects of Mahwangbokhapbang2 (every abbreviation from now on MHBHB2) on obesity care where it is prescribed for high fat diet-induced mice. Also designed to find out effects of MHBHB2 on controlling th obesity clinically) Method : In order to investigate th obese inhibitory effects of MHBHB2, C57BL/6 mice were induced by high fat diet C57BL/6 mice were divided into four group(normal, high fat diet, high fat diet with reductil, high fat diet with MHBHB2 extract) and fed for 15weeks. Result : 1. Mahwangbokhapbang2(MHBHB2) decreased significantly the body weig-ht. 2. MHBHB2 decreased significantly the weight of adipocyte. 3. MHBHB2 decreased significantly the blood level of serum ALT, AST. 4. MHBHB2 decreased significantly the blood level of serum total cholester-l, LDL- cholesterol, friglyceride and NEFA(free fatty acid). 5. MHBHB2 decreased significantly the blood level of HDL-cholesterol. 6. MHBHB2 500mg/kg decreased significantly the blood level of Leptin. Conclusion : Based on these results, it is prove that MHBHB2 is effective on obesity care and has obese-inhibitory effects in obese-mouse induced by high fat diet. So it is espected that the clinical application of MHBHB2 can help the treatment of obesity.
이습활통탕(利濕活通湯)이 Collagen 2로 유발된 류마티스 관절염에 미치는 영향

Objectives: The aim of this study was to know the immunity reponse of Esubwhaltong-tang(hereafter referred to ESWTT) to rheumatoid arthrits in CIA(collagen induced arthritis) mice. Methods: For this purpose, ESWTT was orally administerd to mice with arthritis induced by collagen 2 and then value of immunocyte in paw joint, cytokine(IL-6, TNF-α), rheumatoid factor(IgG and IgM) and collagen Ⅱ specific antibody in the serum were measured. Results: 1. The cytotoxicity was not shown on hFLSs and liver. 2. Marginal erosion, necrotic chodrocytes, cartilage and bone degradation were improved in histological section of paw joints from CIA mice(ESWTT extract administration group). 3. Total cell number of paw joint in CIA mice(ESWTT extract administration group) was decreased significantly. 4. The absolute number of CD3+, CD3+/CD69+, CD4+, CD4+/CD25+, CD49b+, CD3+/CD49b+ cells in CIA mice(ESWTT extract administration group) were decreased significantly. 5. The levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in the serum of CIA mice(ESWTT extract administration group) were decreased significantly. 6. The levels of total IgG and IgM in the serum of CIA mice(ESWTT extract administration group) were decreased significantly. 7. The level of collagen Ⅱ specific antibody in the serum of CIA mice(ESWTT extract administration group) was decreased significantly. Conclusions: Comparison of the results for this study showed that ESWTT had immunomodulatory effects of suppressing. So we expect that ESWTT could be used as an effective drugs for not only rheumatoid arthritis but also auto-immune disease.
굴곡신연기법을 이용한 흉요추 추간판 탈출증과 척추 측만증의 치험 1례

2006년 6월 13일부터 2005년 7월 10일까지 대전대학교 부속 청주한방병원 한방재활과에 입원하였던 교통사고로 인하여 악화된 요통 및 하지 방산통의 임상증상을 보이며 신경학적인 이학검사 및 X-ray 혹은 자기공명영상(MRI)에서 흉요추 추간판 탈출증 및 척추 측만증으로 확진된 환자에게 굴곡신연기법을 병행한 치료법을 시술하여 요통의 호전 및 측만각의 개선 효과를 거두어 이에 보고하는 바이다. This study is designed to evaluate the effect of flexion-distraction technique for the patient with thoracic & lumbar disc and scoliosis. After flexion-distraction technique the. results of VAS of lumbago, orthopedics tests, cobb's angle were improved significantly. It is suggested that flexion-distraction technique might be effective for the patient with Thoracic & Lumbar Disc and Scoliosis.
방광루술후 발생한 심부정맥혈전증 환자 1례에 대한 임상적 고찰

Objectives We got a good effect on one patient who diagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis after cystostomy. Methods The patient was treated with Acupuncture, Herbal medication, Venesection. To evaluate the edema, pain of leg, Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and the measurement of leg circumference are used. Results 1. The discrepancy of the leg circumference is decreased from 3.1㎝ to 1.6㎝. 2. The Visual Analogue Scale was decreased from 10 to 2-1. Conclusions In this case, the patient who diagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis(DVT) after cystostomy treated by Acupuncture, Herbal medication, Venesection was improved. We are reporting this case.
한국홍삼(韓國紅蔘)과 북미삼(北美蔘)의 환경호르몬 독성방어(毒性防禦) 활성(活性) 및 화학성분(化學成分) 비교(比較)

Objective: This study was carried out to reveal differences between Korean red ginseng(Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) and American ginseng(Panax quinquefolius L.) on the protective effects against environmental hormones-induced toxicity. Methods: For the assessment of experiment, male Sprague Dawley rats were divided to normal control, TCDD only and TCDD plus saponins (40mg/kg)-administered groups. A single dose of TCDD (50㎍/kg) was intraperitoneally injected to rats on the seventh day. Results: Administrations of Korean red ginseng saponin fraction reduced TCDD-induced weight loss and histopathological lesions of liver and testis. In contrast, administration of American ginseng did not. A percentile of ginsenoside Rh1 was peculiarly high in Korean red ginseng and administration of ginsenoside Rh1 (20mg/kg) attenuated the TCDD-induced weight loss and histopathological lesions of liver and testis were also reduced. Conclusions: The saponin of Korean red ginseng might prevent the endocrine disruptor-induced toxicity whereas American ginseng did not. It is also not able that the difference of pharmacologocal activity between Korean red ginseng and American ginseng may be originated from their different chemical compositions.
