In order to improve the disadvantages of independently rotating wheel type railway vehicles, a vehicle has been proposed in which the front axle is a rigid wheel type system and the rear axle is an independently rotating wheel type system. Although system was developed through various studies to satisfy both straight running performance and curving performance, it shows intermediate characteristics between rigid axle type and independently rotating wheel type. When the front axle is operated with the independently rotating wheel type, the running performance is rather poor. In this paper, characteristics of front and rear asymmetric independently rotating wheel type vehicles were compared and evaluated by critical speed analysis of various types of vehicle using four configurations: rigid wheelset, independently rotating wheelset, front only rigid wheelset, and rear only rigid wheelset.

Background: This study aims to compare the surgical outcomes of open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) and minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) using a screw compression method in simple humeral shaft fractures. Methods: This retrospective study was performed with 50 patients who had surgical interventions for the treatment of simple humeral shaft fractures and had follow-ups of at least 12 months in Ulsan University Hospital between August 2008 and June 2015. Group 1 included 23 patients treated with ORIF and group 2 included 27 patients treated with the MIPO technique using a locking screw plate. The time to clinical/radiographic union, the joint range of motion (ROM), and function were evaluated. Results: The average time to clinical/radiographic bone union was shorter in group 2 (12.0 ± 3.7 weeks/14.8 ± 2.0 weeks in group 1 and 9.4 ± 1.3 weeks/12.0 ± 3.3 weeks in group 2; p = 0.022/p = 0.034). Shoulder and elbow joint function evaluated by joint ROM and visual analogue scale (VAS), Korean Shoulder Elbow Society (KSS), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) scores was excellent in both groups. On the average shoulder ROM at 12 months after the operation, group 1 had forward elevation of 160°, external rotation of 30° in adduction and lumbar vertebra 10 level in internal rotation and group 2 had forward elevation of 170°, external rotation of 35° in adduction and lumbar vertebra 9 level in internal rotation. The mean VAS, KSS, ASES, and UCLA scores were 2.8, 87.0 ± 0.9, 89.4 ± 0.9, and 31.0 ± 1.4, respectively, in group 1 and 1.7, 89.1 ± 2.7, 91.0 ± 1.6, and 32.4 ± 3.2, respectively, in group 2. There were statistically significant intergroup differences in VAS score (p = 0.011). There were significantly less postoperative infections in group 2 (three cases, 10.7% in group 1 and 0 case in group 2; p = 0.041) although all of them were superficial infections and well-treated by an average 4-week course of antibiotics (range, 2 to 6 weeks). Conclusions: MIPO using a screw compression method in simple humeral shaft fractures demonstrated superior efficacy to ORIF in terms of the time to clinical/radiographic union, pain score, and postoperative infection rate.
Superior Gluteal Artery Injury during Percutaneous Iliosacral Screw Fixation: A Case Report

Percutaneous iliosacral screw fixation is commonly practiced to treat unstable posterior pelvic ring injuries. The number of reported cases of iatrogenic complications is increasing. We present a case of superior gluteal artery injury during bilateral percutaneous iliosacral screw fixation in a patient with sacral fracture of spino-pelvic dissociation. This complication was managed by arterial embolization. We discussed the cause, prevention and treatment of arterial injury along with a review of literature.
Occult Intertrochanteric Fracture Mimicking the Fracture of Greater Trochanter

Purpose: Occult intertrochanteric fractures are misdiagnosed as isolated greater trochanteric fractures in some cases. We investigated the utility of three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis and outcome management of occult intertrochanteric fractures. Materials and Methods: This study involved 23 cases of greater trochanteric fractures as diagnosed using plain radiographs from January 2004 to July 2013. Until January 2008, 9 cases were examined with 3D-CT only, while 14 cases were screened with both 3D-CT and MRI scans. We analyzed diagnostic accuracy and treatment results following 3D-CT and MRI scanning. Results: Nine cases that underwent 3D-CT only were diagnosed with isolated greater trochanteric fractures without occult intertrochanteric fractures. Of these, a patient with displacement received surgical treatment. Of the 14 patients screened using both CT and MRI, 13 were diagnosed with occult intertrochanteric fractures. Of these, 11 were treated with surgical intervention and 2 with conservative management. Conclusion: Three-dimensional CT has very low diagnostic accuracy in diagnosing occult intertrochanteric fractures. For this reason, MRI is recommended to confirm a suspected occult intertrochanteric fracture and to determine the most appropriate mode of treatment

국토교통부 지원 하에 2009년에 개발을 착수하여 2012년 2월에 제작을 완료한 국내 최초 무가선 저상트램은 162kWh급 에너지 용량을 가진 리튬 폴리머 배터리를 탑재하여 별도의 급전 및 충전 시설없이 배터리에 저장된 에너지만으로 현존하는 무가선 트램 중에서 최장 거리 운행이 가능한 차량이다. 또한, 장거리 주행 및 배터리 충전시간을 줄이기 위해서 유가선 주행도 가능하도록 설계가 되어 있기 때문에 유연한 노선 설계에도 대응이 가능하다. 2012년 5월부터 8월까지 여수엑스포 전시기간 동안에 여수엑스포역에서 전시운행을 실시하여 일반인에게도 시승의 기회를 제공하였다. 2012년 11월에는 오송에 약 1km 구간의 트램시험선을 완공하여 현재까지 연속 주행시험을 실시하고 있다. 또한, 2013년 2단계 기술개발 기간 착수 후에는 신호시스템을 탑재하고, 유가선 구간의 시험선을 연장하여 종합 운행 시험을 실시할 예정이다. The first catenary-free low floor tram in Korea has started to be developed in 2009 and finished manufactured in Feb. 2012 supported by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Equipped with litium-polymer battery of 162kWh energy capacity, it is able to run the longest distance in existing catenaryfree trams only using on-board battery energy without additional charging or supplying power. As it is designed to run with catenary for the purpose to operate longer distance and reduce battery charging time, track design is enabled more flexible. During Yeosu Expo exhibition from May to August 2012, it has been demonstrated to the public at the Yeosu Expo station. In Nov. 2012, the construction of tram test track with 1km section has been finished and the tram has continued running test until now. After starting the phase 2 R&D period in 2013, the signaling system will be installed, extend the test track with catenary and the integration test will be conducted.
저심도 도시철도용 급곡선 주행시스템 성능검증용 HILS를 위한 해석모델 개발

저심도 도시철도용 주행시스템은 최소곡선 15mR을 빈번하게 주행하게 된다. 급곡선 주행조건에서 철도차량은 과도한 마모와 소음 및 횡압이 발생하고 승차감 저하뿐 아니라 탈선에 이르는 경우도 발생한다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 조 향기구나 안내기구의 적용이 요구된다. 구동대차는 조향시스템 적용이 어려워 개별모터 제어에 의한 토크제어를 통한 횡변위와 요각제어를 수행하고 부수대차에는 유압식 조향 링크를 설치하여 차체간 회전각을 이용한 조향 기능이 구현되는 시스템을 개발하여 시험을 준비 중이다. 시험차량 제작 전 HILS를 이용하여 개발시스템의 성능을 검증하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 HILS를 이용한 개발시스템의 성능검증을 위해서 실시간 해석시간과 정확도를 확보할 수 있는 3편성 시험차량의 해석모델 개발에 대한 연구내용을 기술하였다. The running system for near surface transit running on the sharp curve with 15mR frequently. The railway vehicle which run on sharp curve build severe wear and noise, and generate huge lateral force then reduce ride quality and reach to the derail condition. The steering device and guide mechanisms are demanded to improve this problems. The motorized bogie hard to adopt this system, so lateral displacement and yaw angle control with individual motor torque control. The trailing bogie equipped with hydraulic steering link which convert relative rotate angle between carbody to bogie rotate angle. These two systems are developed and ready to test. The performance of this steering system evaluated with HILS before build test vehicle. This paper describes about development of an analytical model of test vehicle with 3 car modules which secure the precision and real time calculate time.
