        안내이물의 임상양상 및 예후인자

        Purpose: To investigate clinical characteristics of post-traumatic intraocular foreign body (IOFB), which occurred between 2006 and 2010, and prognostic factors associated with final visual outcome. Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed of patients with IOFB who visited our clinic from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2010, and who were followed up for more than 6 months. Cross tabulation and correlation analyses were conducted to evaluate the predictive factors related to final visual acuity. Results: A total of 36 eyes (35 patients) were included in this study. The mean age was 44.2 years, and 33 patients (94.3%) were male. The most common cause of IOFB was lawnmower-related activity (12 patients; 33.3%) and hammering-related activity (11 patients; 30.1%). Among analyzed prognostic factors, only initial visual acuity was significantly correlated with visual outcomes (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Compared with previous studies, lawnmower and hammering-related activities were still the most common causes of IOFB, however, the incidence of occurrence in the 40’s and 50’s was relatively higher than in previous studies. Considering the poor visual outcome of IOFB even after proper surgical treatment, using proper eye protection should be emphasized in a dangerous work environment to prevent ocular trauma.

        약시환아에서 성공적인 가림치료에 미치는 인자와 시력호전기간에 대한 임상분석

        적: 굴절부등과 사시에 의한 약시환아 중 가림치료 후 최대교정시력이 1.0으로 호전된 경우를 대상으로 약시 치료기간을 예측할수 있는 인자를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상과 방법: 2세부터 13세까지의 굴절부등과 사시에 의한 약시환아 48명을 대상으로 하였다. 가림치료를 하여 교정시력이 1.0으로 시력호전에 성공한 약시환아에서 약시안의 구면렌즈대응치, 원인(굴절부등, 사시, 혼합), 약시안의 초진 시 교정시력, 가림치료를 시작한 나이 등의 인자들에 따른 치료기간을 비교하였다. 결과: 가림치료 시 초진나이는 평균 5.4세였으며, 시력호전에 걸리는 시간은 평균 22.9개월이었다. 치료기간은 약시안의 구면렌즈대응 치가 +3.0D보다 클 때(p<0.05), 가림치료 시작 시 최대교정시력이 0.2 이하일 때(p<0.05), 가림치료 시작 나이가 만 6세 이상일 경우 (p<0.05) 길어졌고, 약시의 원인에 따른 치료기간은 통계학적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다. 결론: 약시환아를 대상으로 가림치료 시 약시안의 구면렌즈대응치가 +3.0D보다 클 때, 가림치료 시작 시 최대교정시력이 0.2 이하일 때, 나이가 6세 이상일 경우에 시력의 발달 및 회복기간이 길기 때문에, 이 요소들은 약시 치료기간을 예측하는 인자로 고려할 수 있겠다. Purpose: To evaluate the factors affecting successful occlusion treatment and visual recovery time in patients with amblyopia when best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improved up to 1.0 after occlusion. Methods: Forty-eight patients aged 2 to 13 years old with amblyopia due to refractive errors or strabismus were selected. The duration of treatment needed to achieve a BCVA of 1.0 was compared according to the cause of amblyopia (anisometropia, strabismus, combined), initial BCVA of the amblyopic eye, and the age at treatment, as well as other factors. Results: The mean age of amblyopic treatment was 5.4 years old and the mean duration of treatment was 22.9 months. The duration of treatment was longer in children whose initial BCVA was lower than 0.2, those with spherical equivalent of the amblyopic eye higher than +3.0D and those older than 6 years old. However, there were no significant differences according to the cause of amblyopia. Conclusions: The duration of treatment needed to achieve a BCVA of 1.0 was prolonged when the initial BCVA in the amblyopic eye was lower than 0.2, the age at treatment was more than 6 years old, or the spherical equivalent of the amblyopic eye was higher than +3.0D at treatment.         테리엔각막가장자리변성에서 냉동보존된 잔존각막을 이용한 C형 전부층판각막이식술

        목적: 테리엔각막가장자리변성 환자에서 공여각막의 원형절제 후 냉동보존된 잔존각막을 이용한 C형 전부층판각막이식술을 시행한 1예를 보고하고자 한다. 증례요약: 63세 여자 환자는 수년 전부터 발생한 좌안의 이물감과 시력저하를 주소로 본원에 내원하였다. 굴절검사상 +2.25 Dsph=-5.00 Dcyl×111o의 직난시가 있었으며 이에 따른 최대교정시력은 20/20 (스넬렌 시력표)이었다. 세극등현미경검사에서 각막의 상윤부에 인접하여 약 10.0 mm 넓이의 실질 내 지방질 침착이 동반된 반달모양의 각막의 혼탁 및 얇아짐이 관찰되었고, 빛간섭단층촬영에서 혼탁부의 각막이 극도로 얇아져 있음을 확인하였다. 이에 테리엔각막가장자리변성을 진단하였고 외상성 각막파열을 방지하기 위하여 공여각막의 원형절제 후 냉동보존된 잔존각막을 이용한 C형 전부층판각막이식술을 시행하였다. 술 후 18개월까지 경과 관찰하여 세극등현미경검사와 빛간섭단층촬영에서 이식된 각막은 잘 부착되어 있었고, 두께는 잘 유지되었으며 이식거부반응의 발생은 없었다. 결론: 테리엔각막가장자리변성 환자에서 냉동보존된 잔존각막을 이용한 C형 전부층판각막이식술은 얇아진 각막을 수복할 수 있는 효과적인 치료방법이 될 수 있다. Purpose: To report a case of Terrien’s marginal degeneration treated with C-type anterior lamellar keratoplasty using cryopreserved leftover cornea. Case summary: A 63-year-old female visited our clinic because of left ocular discomfort and visual deterioration over several years. The patient had +2.25 Dsph = -5.00 Dcyl × 111° of astigmatism, and best corrected visual acuity was 20/20. Microscopic slit lamp examinations revealed an approximately 10.0 mm width semilunar shaped stromal opacity with surrounding stromal lipid deposit, as well as superficial neovascularization with thinning at superior perilimbal cornea. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography confirmed extreme thinning at the opacified cornea. The patient was diagnosed with Terrien’s marginal degeneration. To prevent corneal perforation, C-type anterior lamellar keratoplasty using cryopreserved leftover cornea was performed. After 18 months after operation, donor graft was successfully attached via the anterior segment optical coherence tomography and microscopic slit lamp examination and graft rejection was not observed. Conclusions: C-type anterior lamellar keratoplasty using a cryopreserved cornea can be an effective therapeutic strategy for Terrien’s marginal degeneration.

        담수 어류 총수은 분석용 생물 표준물질 균질성, 안정성 시험평가

        The National Environmental Specimen Bank (NESB) has set up a plan to develop reference materials in the facility for assuring analytical quality and validating analytical methods for its monitoring samples. Some of the crucial characteristics that reference materials must consist of are homogeneity and stability of both intra and inter-bottles. In this study, we examined the homogeneity and stability of cryogenically-milled muscle samples, from Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) for total mercury. Homogeneity was tested using ANOVA analysis and regression analysis was used to test short-term stability. The variations of total mercury concentration did not significantly differ between the intra and the inter-bottle (F=0.8, p=0.37). Additionally, relative standard deviation of the total mercury concentration showed low values (2.28%). For the short-term stability test, total mercury variations were not statistically significant as demonstrated by the result of the regression analysis (F ratio = 3.11, p = 0.18). This suggests that the cryogenic-milling process has statistically proven the degree of homogeneity and short-term stability for samples of carp muscles in the chemical analysis for total mercury.

        강우 이벤트가 태화산 잣나무 식재림의 각 발생원별 CO2 발생량에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to find out the soil CO2 emission characteristic due to rain fall pattern and intensity changes. Using Automatic Opening and Closing Chambers (AOCCs), we have measured annual soil respiration changes in Pinus koraiensis plantation at Seoul NationalUniversity experimental forest in Mt. Taehwa. In addition, we have monitored heterotrophic respiration at trenching sites (4×6 m). Based on the one year data of soil respiration and heterotrophicrespiration, we observed that 24% of soil respiration was derived from root respiration. During the rainy season (end of July to September), soil respiration at trenching site and trenching with rainfall interception site were measure during portable soil respiration analyzer (GMP343, Vaisala, Helsinki, Finland). Surprisingly, even after days of continuous heavy rain, soil water content did not exceed 20%. Based on this observation, we suggest that the maximum water holdingcapacity is about 20%, and relatively lower soil water contents during the dry season affect the vital degree of trees and soil microbe. As for soil respiration under different rain intensity, it was increased about 14.4% under 10 mm precipitation. But the high-intensity rain condition, such as more than 10 mm precipitation, caused the decrease of soil respiration up to 25.5%. Taken together, this study suggests that the pattern of soil respiration can be regulated by not only soil temperature but also due to the rain fall intensity.

        카드뮴 분석용 홍합(Mytilus coruscus) 표준물질의 균질성 및 안정성 시험평가

        In this study, the KS A ISO Guide 35 was applied to develop analytical standards for heavy metal cadmium using the Korean mussel (Mytilus coruscus) and to evaluate the homogeneity and stability of the sample. Some of the crucial characteristics that reference materials must consist include homogeneity and stability of both intra- and inter-bottles. We tested homogeneity using ANOVA analysis and short-term stability using regression analysis. The variations of cadmium concentrations did not significantly differ between intra- and inter-bottles (F=0.41, p=0.90). For short-term stability verification, cadmium analysis results were not statistically significant as a result of the regression analysis (significance F=0.51, p=0.53). This suggests that we can not dismiss the null hypothesis that there is no significant variation in concentrations of cadmium over time. These results indicated that the cryogenic-milling process has statistically proven the short-term stability for materials from mussels in the chemical analysis of cadmium. Therefore, we propose that the Korean mussel’s reference material developed for the proficiency test could be used as a tool to evaluate reliability and consistency in laboratories.

        환경모니터링을 위한 집비둘기 깃털의 중금속 축적특성 연구

        Feral pigeon (Columba livia) has been known as a good indicator for accumulations of chemical pollutants in urban areas. However, it is against the animal rights to kill the indicator species in order to monitor pollutants accumulations in wild birds. Eggs and feathers of birds, therefore, have been used as non-invasive monitoring materials. Even though eggs are a good indicator for accumulations of lipophilic pollutants, but unsuitable for some heavy metals such as lead and cadmium because bird’s ovary builds a sort of barrier to inhibit higher accumulations of some heavy metals in the eggs. Therefore, feathers instead of eggs have been used as a non-invasive indicator for accumulations of heavy metals. However, there are few studies of heavy metal accumulations of feral pigeon in Korea. In this study, we characterized the characteristics of heavy metal accumulations of feathers in relation to internal organs (bloods, viscera and bones) in feral pigeons between two sites (Hangang Park representing urban area and Hampyeong Park for rural area). The samples from the Hangang Park showed significantly higher lead (Pb) concentrations in the blood, liver and bone than those from Hampyeong Park. The Pb concentration in the feathers was also significantly higher at Hangang Park than at Hampyeong Park. The analytical result for the breast, wing and tail feathers, and the internal organs (blood, lung, liver, kidney and bone) indicated that the Pb concentrations in the feathers were significantly positively correlated with the levels in the kidney and bone. Overall, feathers of feral pigeon may be candidate for bioindicator to monitor for Pb accumulations in urban areas.

        중소상장제조기업의 영업주기와 유동성, 수익성간의 관계분석

        본 연구는 1994년부터 2000년도까지 우리나라 중소상장제조업체의 영업주기관련 활동성지표들의 실태를 분석하고, 영업주기와 기업의 유동성, 수익성비율간의 관계를 검증하였다. 분석결과, 중소상장제조업체들의 평균영업주기는 150.88일로 한 회계기간동안 2.42회전을 한 것으로 나타났다. 자금측면에서는 매입채무에 의존한 기간(54.68일)보다는 기업이 운전자본을 투하해서 운용해야 하는 기간(96.20일)이 훨씬 더 길며, 현금주기를 하루 단축할 경우 약 1,200만원의 금융비용을 절감시킬 수 있는 것으로 산출되었다. 업종별로는 의약품의 영업주기와 현금주기가 가장 긴 반면 운수장비와 종이, 목재업종이 짧은 것으로 제시되었다. 영업주기는 IMF구제금융신청 이전에 비해 약 21일 정도 증가하였으며 증가분은 현금주기에 거의 대부분 전가되었다. 연구결과는 첫째, 영업주기에 대비시킨 유동성비율간의 상반된 부호는 영업주기대가로 유동비율이나 당좌비율을 단기간내에 조절할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주는 것으로 현금흐름비율이 더 바람직한 유동성척도임을 시사한다. 둘째, 일단위 현금주기 금융비용이 연 1,200만원에 달한다는 점은 현금주기 변화로 인한 금융비용이 경영자성과평가시 간과될 수 없음을 제안한다. 셋째, 기간, 업종, 자본구조를 통제한 후 수익성비율에 대한 회귀분석을 수행한 결과 영업주기와 현금주기가 증가할수록 영업이익률과 경상이익률은 감소하였으나 매출이익률은 증가하는 것으로 나타나 높은 판매마진보다는 회전율개선이 기업의 수익성에 더 기여할 수 있는 요인이라는 점을 보여준다. This paper empirically analyzes the operating and cash cycles of small sized manufacturing firms for the period of 1994 through 2000. Using a data set composed of 863 annual observations, turnover ratios relating operating cycle are calculated for total sample, by year, and by industry. The relationships among the length of two cycles and the level of profitability and liquidity are also investigated. Average length of the operating cycle for sample firms turned out 150 days. Pharmaceutic firms show the longest cycle, whereas paper and lumber firms indicate the shortest cycle. The cycle consists of 74 days of inventory on hand and 76 days of receivable collection period on average. However, sample firms fill one-third of the cycle with account payables and the remaining 96 days with their own working capital. If sample firm reduces its cash cycle by a single day, the firm can save ₩12 million of financing cost annually. The empirical result shows that the liquidity ratio measured by cash flows from operating activities is superior to the accrual basis ratios such as current ratio and quick asset ratio. ₩12 million of annual financing cost for a single day in cash cycle suggests that firm should take it into consideration when evaluate management performance. The relationship between operating cycle and profitability reveals that high turnover ratios contribute more to earning improvement than high gross profit margin.
