In this paper, we present a special technique for modeling an unknown IIR system with FIR model. This technique requires a type of adaptive filter called an Adaptive Delay Filter. This filter structure includes variable delay taps in addition to variable weights. This filter structure is very effective in system modeling problems in which the system to be modeled has a sparse impulse response because all the delay taps spread out to adapt to an unknown system. Using the standard adaptive filter to model a sparse system may require a very large filter while an adaptive delay filter can model the sparse impulse response with very few elements. since the delay taps can spread out to track the delay values of the unknown system. Thus, only delay taps with information about the system are needed. Thus the number of components in an adaptive delay filter is usually much smaller than in a corresponding standard adaptive filter.

A conventional adaptive noise canceller (ANC) using LMS algorithm suffers from the misadjustment of adaptive filter weights due to the gradient-estimate noise by input speech signal at steady state. In this paper, an ANC is proposed which uses the combination of VSLMS (variable step size LMS) and SA (sign algorithm) to improve steady state performance and convergence rate. SA algorithm is applied in speech region to prevent the weights from perturbing by output speech of ANC and VSLMS algorithm is applied to improve convergence rate and channel tracking ability in silence region and adaptive transient region. In compute rsimulation, the performance of the proposed VSLMS-SA combination algorithm is much better than LMS algorithm and the algorithm, recently proposed by greenberg, with adaptation step-size parameter determine dby sum method in convergence rate, channel tracking and steady state performance.

As society becomes more complex and nuclear families are increased by innovation of science and technology, many accidents like fire and robbery happen frequently leaving factory, shop and house empty. The necessity of a system that immediately alarms accidents taking place in the empty factory, shop and house, that enables to take necessary measures on the accidents to reduce the damages, is urgently raised. To meet such a need the automatic alarm device using speech synthesis is developed. According to the results of simulation verifying the validity of this system, the sensor of which radius and angle is 10[m]and 80˚respectively can detect the emergency and the system using this sensor can inform emergency signal to the reserved place very well.

This paper presents a new method of acoustic feedback cancellation in hearing aids which is based on the orthogonality principle. This method is less affected by ambient signals in steady state, therefore the adaptive filter estimates the feedback path well. The improved performance of this method is confirmed by computer simulation.

The line segment matching problem in stereo vision is solved by a new iteration scheme. A match function which directly reflects the requirements of the epipolar and disparity constraints is proposed for line segment matching. The information contained in the match function can be used to determine line segment correspondences indirectly. After a match network is established according to the match function values, a new iteration algorithm is employed to tune the strengths of the match links in the match network so that the match network can converge to a stable state. No explicit compatibility coefficient need be defined for computing the support function values in the iterations, so that computation time can be saved, compared with conventional relation matching techniques. The inherent anti-symmetric characteristic of relaxation matching for the correspondence problem is also avoided naturally. The experimental results show that the proposed iteration scheme is effective and suitable for various stereo images.
