As a simple and sensitive analysis for heavy metals in water systems, the anodic stripping voltammetry has a lot of advantages, compared with other heavy metal analyses. This analysis method, however, is interfered by organic compounds in the matrix. To measure heavy metals with this method more accurately, it is necessary to perform a proper pre-treatment to break off the bond between organic compounds and heavy metals. In this study, interference effects of organic matters on heavy metal measurements were determined, and then an instrument combining a UV lamp and electrolysis was developed and applied as a pre-treatment to remove the inferences effects. As a result, interference effects by phenol were not observed, whereas humic acid, a complex compound, had interference effects on heavy metals measurements. In the matrix of 15 mg/L humic acid, the recovery rates of Cd, Pb and Cu were 40%, 50% and 10%, respectively, at pH 2, whereas the rates were each 80%, 50% and 20% at pH 11. The pre-treatment using this instrument resulted in a decomposition rate of around 50% for each organic compound. A proper time for pre-treatment turned out to be approximately 10 minutes. This cost-effective pre-treatment module developed in this study might be applicable to various water quality analysis systems.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status of team learning in engineering education. For this, literature review and survey were used. The survey was conducted with 16 professors and 627 students in engineering college. Based on the results, team should be organized in consideration of various characteristics and competencies for effective team learning activities in engineering education. And in the team learning operations, it is necessary to make the conditions for students to immerse in team learning through the activation of communication of team members, tightening management of free riding in team learning, and optimizing team learning period. It is necessary to use the team learning evaluation method in harmony with the team, individual and peer evaluation.

This study had a purpose to investigate elements of teamwork skill for engineering students. For this, literature review and delphi method were used. The delphi survey was conducted with 20 experts consisting of experts in engineering, education, and industry field. 22 elements of teamwork skill for engineering students were finally developed. Teamwork skill included knowledge, skill, and attitude for engineering students. Further, the results of this study present a guideline to develop teamwork skill in engineering education.

Since internships or field training provide students with opportunities to choose skills, business interests and aptitudes in the actual workplace, their significant role in higher education has been gradually emphasized. In particular, engineering students gain increased adaptability to the industry, enhance their research abilities and acquire field-based expertise through internships or field training. However, effective operation of such internships or field training often pose various limitations. In this regard, the development of a system to manage students properly is urgently required for the effective operation of internships or field training. Systematic management of a series of related information ranging from a survey on the demand for internships or field training, planning, development and operation of pre-training programs, student guidance through information sharing between universities and businesses, data-gathering with regard to students’ difficulties and their requirements, to prospects for future employment. In line with these requirements, this study attempts to present a modeling scheme for the development of a student management system for use in internships or field training. Towards this end, a questionnaire survey is conducted with engineering professors, students and graduates, along with a review of related literature to identify the needs for system development. Based on the results, a model of the system will be proposed through expert consultation.
