Objective: We evaluated the clinical characteristics of tuberculous arthritis in peripheral joints and their relationship with rheumatologic disorders or other chronic illnesses. Methods: One hundred and sixty seven patients who had suffered from skeletal tuberculosis were treated at Hanyang university medical center from January 1993 to December 2000. We retrospectively analyzed 39 patients who were diagnosed as tuberculous arthritis in peripheral joints. Results: Thirty-nine (21 males, 18 females) patients with tuberculous arthritis in peripheral joints, aged 38.13±15.28, were found. All except one had a mono-articular feature. Affected joints were knee in 22 (56.4%), hip in 7 (17.9%), and wrist in 3 (7.7%). Extra-articular tuberculosis was noticed in 18 (46.2%) patients: lung involvement in 13 (33.3%), spine involvement in 4 (10.3%) and epididymis involvement in 1 (2.6%). One or more predisposing factors were found in 13 (33.3%) patients: 10 patients had a previous trauma history and 3 patients with previous intra-articular injections. Predisposing systemic conditions were present in 12 (30.8%) patients: 4 rheumatoid arthritis, 2 systemic lupus erythematosus, 1 juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, 4 liver cirrhosis, 2 breast cancer and 1 diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: Tuberculous arthritis in peripheral joints were evident in weight bearing joints, such as knee and hip, and were frequently associated with predisposing local or systemic factors. It is most important for the physician to make an early diagnosis and perform adequate treatments to prevent further complications.

The Tree of apartment building is important to achieve a sustainable design for urban environment and to increase residental satisfaction. This study presents the solar shading effect of trees for multi-layer planting. The site for field test is located in Junju, Korea. Four main factors, daylight, illumination, temperature and relative humidity for planting, is tested for 3 months from June to August. Results from the field test are as following; The highest value to block the sunlight is at mean 553.1 W/m² in shading space under Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, that height is 8.3 m and crown diameter is 6.7 m and The lowest of that is at mean 253.8 W/m² under Malus prunifolia (willd.) Borkh. The difference of temperature between sunshine space and shade one ranged from 0.6°C to 6.7°C because of tree in Summer. The results shows that solar shading effect of trees can be used to estimate the change of plant growth condition for ground cover planting.

This study presents method for evaluating the performance of thermal condition in building with BIVS (Building Integrated Vegetation System) using small scale model. The building model, which has the volume of 1m (W) × 1m (D) × 1m (H) and the wall-thickness of 0.1m, was used for field test. Experimental Site is located in Suwon, Korea. Thermal sensors are installed at and inside each layers of BIVS and building structures. The datum of temperature and relative humidity is recorded by connecting to data logger. Sedum middendorffianum and Liriope platyphylla are used for experimental plants. It takes two weeks for experiment in sunny summer. The mean and standard deviation of temperature and relative humidity in ambient air, one room in building that installed BIVS and the other in control building are 26.9±4.1℃ and 79.9±16.9%, 24.8±1.5℃ and 92.2±0.7%, 24.8±2.1℃ and 91.1±1.8% respectively. BIVS can decrease indoor temperature to almost 3°C in similar relative humidity condition. The thermal insulation property of BIVS planted the Sedum middendorffianum is better than that of Liriope platyphylla.
공동주택 조경공간 일조환경 차이에 따른 관목류 식재적합도 평가기술 연구

The purpose of this study was to analyze the growth rate of scrub in greenhouse that installed light blocking films on roof according to different conditions of sunshine environment in apartment building to find optimal planting conditions and defects on factors for shrub. The condition of screening light from sun was 0% as open space, 50% as garden placed to 1m from building and 80% as garden under tree near building, respectively. The results of this study were as follows; the most shrubs should be planted in shading condition near building and for spring. the main factors for the optimal planting were different on the type of shrubs. the most shrubs were affected mainly by shading condition in apartment buildings.
도시열섬완화를 위한 경사지붕 옥상녹화 식재설계기법에 따른 온도저감분석

The purpose of this study was to analyze the reduction of temperature according to planting method and coverage ratio of plant for the sloped green roof. The temperature reduction effects were investigated using plants, that usually installed for green roof system, such as Carex komobugi, Sedum mix(Sedum middendorffianum : Sedum sarmentosum : Sedum acre : Sedum album = 1 : 1 : 1 : 1) and so on. The coverage ratio of Sedum mix. for roof greening was at almost 80%, that was higher than that of Carex komobugi, at 50%. But in flat condition(slope 0°), Carex komobugi showed significantly higher coverage ratio than Sedum mix. In the case of module type, the coverage ratio of Sedum mix is the highest at 87% on 20° slope, while that of Carex komobugi is at 73% on 0° slope in installation type.
