Miliary t:;!'oerculosis of the liver is not often considered as a cause in obscure illness, fever of ur.determir.ed origin or hepatomegaly. A 3p year-old man had suffered from unL.nown fever and chillness, nausea and weight loss for 1p months and had a history of tuberculous pleurisy, confirmed by pleural biopsy in 25 year-old of his age. In local clinic, because of high fever, he had received treatment under the impression of typhoid fever but no improvement vas noted. Physical exaniination on admission revealed that blood pressure was 1ZO/80 mmHg, respira- tion 20/minute, the pulse 100/minute, temperature Rg'C. General appearance was chronic ill and hepato..iegalv and splenomegaly were noted on palpation. On laboratory data showed persistent leukopenia (2,200/mm to 3,400/mm), but bone marrow biopsy was within normal range. Liver scan sliowed hepatospenomegaly and multiple cold area noted. Liver biopsy revealed multiple tubercle with caseous necrotic lesion and large gi,..; cells around the tubercle noted.

Advances in computer and sensor technology have made it possible to obtain superlarge manufacturing process data in real time, letting us extract meaningful information from these superlarge data sets. We propose a systematic data analysis procedure which field engineers can apply easily to manufacture quality products. The procedure consists of data cleaning and data analysis stages. Data cleaning stage is to construct a database suitable for statistical analysis from the original superlarge manufacturing process data. In the data analysis stage, we suggest a graphical easy-to-implement approach to extract practical information from the cleaned database. This study will help manufacturing companies to achieve six sigma quality.

This research is a preliminary study for the improved management of educational specialization of guard and security major. A survey was performed with 174 registered students who are majoring in guard and security at nine universities throughout the country, The systematic cluster sampling method was used for creating the data set and the total number of 174 interviewees answered our questionnaires. 1. The Result from Students The result of questions concerning their preference ordering for the major field, when they entered the school, was "Guard and Security"(81%), "Private Security"(12%) and "Safety"(7%). Their preference for the major courses also appeared in the same order of "Guard and Security", "Private Security" and "Safety" area. In the field of "Safety", relatively small number of students were evenly distributed to 13 courses such as "Theory of Prevention of Disasters in Cities" and "Intelligent Building". Thirty-seven courses were opened in "Guard and Security' major, and 111 students took "Martial Arts for Body Guarding", 99 for "Planning Theory of Body Guarding", and 96 for "Introduction to the Theory of Body Guarding", respectively. And students majoring in "Private Security" also took their 31 courses impartially, in which "Theory of Private Security''(21), "Introduction to Machinery Security''(21), "Facilities Security''(15) and "Theory of Crisis Management"(12) were included.

POSCO is one of the largest steel company in the world. Recently, this company is considering to adopt Six Sigma methodology to enhance its quality level. In this paper, we apply the DMAIC process to improve the material quality, YP, which is a very important critical-to-quality characteristic of the final steel product. POSCO needs to control YP less than or equal to 17.5㎏/㎟. It is known that the higher YP value is caused by the variation in skin pass mill(SPM). So, SPM needs to be controlled in a specified region according to the operating standard. In reality, however, it is very difficult to control SPM. In this study, we investigate some product and process variables, identify critical-to-process(CTP) variables, and present an optimal interval of each CTP to keep the YP value less than 17.5㎏/㎟.

Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) have the subject of debate and controversy regarding their histogenesis, criteria on malignancy, prognostic features, site-specificity and their nomenclature. These tumors have various phenotypical features and are generally divided into (1) tumors showing differentiation toward smooth muscle cells (2) tumors showing apparent differentiation toward neural elements (3) tumors showing dual differentiation toward smooth muscle and neural elements (4) tumors lacking differentiation toward either cell type (uncommitted type). This study was performed to identify the possible origin and differentiation of gastric stromal tumor. Methods: This study was performed on 38 patients who had gastric stromal tumors on endoscopy or endoscopic ultrasonography and confirmed by endoscopic or surgical resection between January 1994 and June 1999 at Department of Internal Medicine, Korea University College of Medicine. Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues were studied by immunohistochemical method for detecting the presence of CD 34, CD 117, Vimentin, SMA, Desmin, S-100, PGP 9.5 and NSE. Results: The patients' age ranged from 26 to 81 years old, with an average age of 53.8 years. The male to female ratio was 1:1.2. Endoscopic resections were performed on 22 patients and surgical operations on 16 patients. The average tumor size was 25.3 mm in diameter. On immunohistochemical staining method, the uncommitted type was found in 18 patients (47.4%), of which 17 patients (94.4%) were CD117 (+), CD34 (+), Vimentin (+), 12 patients (31.6%) had muscular differentiation, 7 patients (18.4%) showed neural differentiation and 1 patient (2.6%) showed differentiation toward both neural and muscular immunohistochemical pattern. Conclusion: Gastric stromal tumors showed phenotypical diversity in immunohistochemical staining suggesting different histogenesis. Most uncommitted type had a phenotype of intersititial cells of Cajal (ICC) and this evidence supports the hypothesis that uncommitted type has the origin of ICC.(Korean J Med 63:14-22, 2002)

본 논문에서는 적합성 시험을 위한 시험열(test sequence) 중에서 RE(Recursive) sequence에 대한 optimal test sequence를 구하는 방법을 제시한다. 그것을 위해서 기존의 single ID sequence에서 적용되는 방법들에 관해서 알아 보고, 그 중에서 Miller의 방법을 RE sequence에 적용시켜서 거기서 나오는 시험열이 optimal임을 증명해 보인다.

프로토콜의 적합성 시험(Conformance Test)의 시험 케이스(Test Case) 생성시의 비용을 줄이기 위한 노력중의 하나로 시험 목적을 적용한 방법을 제시한다. 이를 위하여 시험 목적을 pre-define된 GID table의 sequence로 표현하는 접근법과 INRES에서의 예를 제시하고 있으며 GID-based approach로 구현한 tool을 살펴본다.
