Interferon (IFN) have revealed evidence that have cellular proliferation regulatory, immunoregulatory, antitumor and antiviral functions. Furthermore, interferon has the capacity to induce oligo-2``-5``-adenylate synthetase (2-5AS), which plays an important role in the antiviral function in cultured cells and peripheral blood mononuclear leukocyte. 2-5AS is induced by interferon and it``s activity in mononuclear cells reliably reflects activation of the IFN system by viral infections. RIA kit was used for establishment of Korean normal serum level of 36 healthy HBsAg seronegative subjectis (male 21, female 15), 19 HBsAg seropositive patients and 20 cancer patients (hepatic carcinoma and colon carcinoma) were examined, respectively. The following results were obtained. 1. HBsAg negative healthy adult normal individuals were 40.39±41.30 pmol/dl. 2. HBsAg seropositive individuals were 48.44 ± 47.46 pmol/dl. 3. Carcinoma patients were 37.66 ± 36. 02pmol/ dl.

A case of acute monocytic leukemia is presented. A 42 year-old male was admitted to this hospital for a week's history of the swelling of both submaxillary area and the ulceration in the mucous membrane of the mouth. Physical examination on admission revealed swelling on both submaxillary regions, anemic conjunctiva, ulcerated mucous membrane of the mouth, systolic murmur on the apex, palpable liver and spleen by 2 F. B. respectively, and tenderness on the RUQ. The laboratory data showed as the following in the peripheral blood, W. B. C. 108,150/mm3, R. B. C. 227X10''/mm3, Hb. 6. 1 gm/dl, Ht. 19%, E. S. R. 73mm/hr, platelet 76X101/mm', n. seg. 2%, lymphocyte 16%, monocyte 16%, promoncyte 30%, blast cell 36%, bleeding time 4' 55", prothrombin time 92%. In the bone marrow, blast cell 44%, monocyte 11.2%, lymphocyte 4.2%, metarubricyte 0.2%, promonocyte 37.4%, metamyelocyte 0.4%, rubricyte 2.4%, plasmocyte 0.2%, On the hospital 10th day this patient was discharged without remarkable changes even though the active treatment was done and died of it 2 days later.

The skin graft is one of the treatment for deep and extensive normal skin defects because of various reasons with extensive burn or excision of scar tissue and skin neoplasm etc. Especially, the homo skin graft is usually applied to emergency bioloic dressing for prevention of fluid loss and the elimination of pain, shock and infection in deep and extensive burn wound, during period a change for the better patients general condition. The clinical use of auto skin graft promotes healing process in the deep cutaneous wound contracture and seems to prevent wound contracture and scar formation by diminishing granulation tissue formation. Authors performed experimental studies in 30 rats with homo skin graft and auto skin graft. Histopathological changes of transplanted skin tissue were observed at each period of postoperative 1st day, 3rd day, 5th day, 7th day, 10th day, and 15th day. Following results were observed. 1. On the macroscopic findings, there is no observable difference in the necrotic change and pigmentation of skin autograft and homograft prior to onset of the homograft rejection period. 2. On the macroscopic findings, from post operative 5th day, there was observable rejection response in the homo skin grafts. 3. Among the auto skingrafts, the necrotic change of graft tissue due to failure of skin transplantation was marked from post operative 5th day on the macroscopic findings. 4. In the homo skingraft, edematous change of gnaft tissue was observable nature from postopera- tive 3rd day and remarkable edematous appearance was noted at postoperative 5th day, which was reduced gradually to escharization with dryness at postoperative 15th day. 5. In the autografts, edematous change was no remarkable nature except for failure of skin transplantation. 6. In the microscopic findings, there was slight observed necrosis with no difference in the homo and auto skingraft but diminished from postoperative 5th day in the auto skin grafts and contineous observable necrotic tissue in the homo skin grafts. 7. Lymphocyte infiltration was slight. observed after transplantation, and marked appearance was noted at postoperative 5th day and 7th day in the homoskingrafts but a few of lymphocyte count was observed in the auto skin grafts. 8. New capillary formation in the graft was no observable capillary network in the homo skingraft but gradually increased from postoperative 7th day in auto skin grafts.
