Objection: A medicine which is patient-initiative and preventive is required in Korea, which is going to an aging society. On this, we started this study to make a new rule to diagnose and treat more definitely by linking traditional Oriental medicine to Sasang Constitional medicine, which thought to be suitable because of Sasang Constitional medicine has been valued on staying, diet and human`s nature which means preventive medical propensity. Methods: On this study, we discriminated Sasang Constition of 161 students, who is in college of oriental medicine, Wonkwang university, by using QSCCⅡ program; and in those students, we checked 30 volunteers`s five vicera`s Back-su point on riging and depression, tenderness reaction, and color reaction after cupping treatment. Results: As a result of study of riging and depression of five vicera`s Back-su point, we could confirm that defecient organ`s Back-su point were more depressed than excess organ in Seum-in, Taeeum-in, Soyang-in. As a result of study of tenderness reaction of five vicera`s Back-su point, we could confirm that excess organ`s Back-su point showed stronger tenderness reaction than defecient organ in Seum-in, Taeeum-in; and excess organ`s Back-su point showed weaker tenderness reaction than defecient organ in Soyang-in. As a result of study of color reaction after cupping treatment of five vicera`s Back-su point, we could confirm that excess organ`s Back-su point showed stronger color reaction than defecient organ in Seum-in, Taeeum-in; and excess organ`s Back-su point showed weaker color reaction than defecient organ in Soyang-in. Those data suggest that there are close correlation between Sasang Constition and on riging and depression, tenderness reaction, and color reaction after cupping treatment of five vicera`s Back-su point in treditional Oriental medicine. Conclusions: From this study, we can make a new rule to differentiate Sasang Constition by clearfy a relation between Sasang Constition and five vicera`s Back-su point; and with this rule, we could contribute to popularization and objectification of Sasang Constition medicine and further more, Oriental medicine by making a Sasang Constition diagnosis instrument. With this, a trait of Sasang Constition medicine that is preventive and valued on character of individuals will contribute to building a patient-initiative and preventive medical system and will expend the domain of Oriental medicine.

Artificial graphite generally manufactured by carbonization sintering of shape-body of kneaded mixture using granular cokes as filler and pitch as binder, going through pitch impregnation process if necessary and finally applying graphitization heat treatment. Graphite materials are used for core internal structural components of the High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGR) because of their excellent heat resistibility and resistance of crack progress. The HTGR has a core consisting of an array of stacked graphite fuel blocks are machined from IG-110, a high-strength, fine-grained isotropic graphite. In this study, crack stabilization and micro-structures were measured by bend strength and fracture toughness of isotropic graphite grade IG-110. It is important to the reactor designer as they may govern the life of the graphite components and hence the life of the reactor. It was resulted crack propagation, bend strength, compressive strength and micro-structures of IG-110 graphite by scanning electron microscope and universal test machine.

Loose bodies are gneerally cartilaginous sequelae of trauma or a degenerative process and may produce locking, swelling and pain in the knee. In athletes, they originate most often from the patella or the medial femoral condyle, and osteochondritis dissecans and osteochondral fractures are the most frequent causes of the loose bodis. Giant intraartieular osteochondroma is rare cause of the loose body in the knee joint. Aothors experienced 1 case of the loose body in the knee joint of the athlete, in which the qause of the loose body was giant intraarticular osteochondroma, and the loose body was removed by arthroscopy.

A Statistical analysis was made on 55 patients of tumors around hip who were diagnosed at Inje University Seoul Paik Hospital during the period of 10 Years and 5 months from June, 1981 to October, 1990. The results were as follows; 1. Forty nine cases (89.0%) were metastatic, five cases (9.1%) were benign primary and one case (1.9%) was malignant primary. 2. Among metastatic tumors, the most frequent primary site was lung (22.4%) and followed by breast (18.4%) and stomach (16.3%). 3. In metastatic tumor, the most frequent site of lesion was multifocal (34.75) and followed by ilium (22.4%) and pubis (18.4%). 4. Of the 49 cases of metastasis, 15 cases were at their 6th decades, 12 cases at 5th and 10 cases at 7th.

Through operative treatment by internal fixation, the mortality and complication in pertrochanteric fracture decreased markedly. After introduction of compression hip screw, it is accepted as a standard method in pertrochanteric fracture and contributed to decreaseing the mortality and complication. But it is pointed out that the compression hip screws have prolblems such as difficulty in reduction, cutting out and jamming. Also operation risk is very high in partient with poor general condition and old age. Gamma nail, a kind of interlocking nail was recently introduced. Since it is a closed intramedul- lary nail, it has an advantage such as low intraoperative blood loss, and less soft tissue injury. Also it has an advantage of a comprssion screw and biomechanical advantage such as short lever arm, low vertical force component and low axial torque component. In this paper, authors are reporting 8 cases of pertrochanteic fractures of femur treated by Gamma nailing from September, 1990 to June, 1991.
상완골 간부 골절과 상완골 원위부 골절에서의 Ilizarov 치료

상완골 간부 골절과 상완골 원위부 골절 중, 보존적 치료나 금속 내고정의 적응증이 되나, 이러한 치료가 어렵거나, 불가능한 경우에서 저자들은 Ilizarov 치료법을 적용하여 좋은 결과를 얻었기에 보고하고자 한다. The fractures of the humeral shaft are generally treated nonoperatively and good results could be achieved by conservative treatment. Open reduction and internall fixation is indicated in such cases that conservative treatments were fatted or early mobilization of the involved limbs was needed because of associated injuries. But in some cases the Ilizarov treatment could be a kind of good method for treating humerus shaft fracture and distal humerus fracture in comparison with the conservative treatment or open reduction and internal fixation. The following could be good indications for Ilizarov treatment : If the open reduction and internal fixation is indicated but the bad skin and soft tissues could not allow the open reduction and internal fixation, or if the comminution of the fracture is too severe and extensive for open reduction and Internal fixation, or if the humerus shaft fracture is an open fracture. Authors treated 3 cases of humerus shaft fractures, 1 case of nonunion of humerus shaft fracture and 1 case of comminuted fracture of distal humerus involving articular surface of the elbow by using Ilizarov external fixator.
