      • 한의학에서 턱관절을 어떻게 보는가

        Objectives: This study is aimed to recognize the role of TMJ in Korean medicine basic theory and clinic, which is the foundation of human life sustaining. Methods: It was identified and confirmed the organic connection between TMJ and Korean medicine specially Meridian theory. Results: In Korean medicine be based policies to promote of Oriental Medicine Promotion Act, the therapy of TMJ balancing is one of the parts of Korean medicine treatment of technique. TMJ balancing performs a primary role to treat diseases in the brain and the cervical vertebrae. Conclusions: TMJ balancing medicine is the part of integrative medicine for systemic diseases treatment to be based on Korean medicine basic theory.

      • 턱관절 균형과 경맥유주의 상응관계 연구

        Objectives: TMJ is the joint that connects the mandible to the skull, and it balances the body by holding the skull in the right position. The Meridian flows through the whole body. The objective of this study is to examine and clarify the relationship between the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) and the Meridian flow, especially around the TMJ. Methods: We reviewed the literature on the 8 Extra Meridians and the 12 Main Meridians around the TMJ. Results & Conclusion: Eight Extra Meridians keep the balance and harmony of the TMJ, and also play an important role in maintaining equilibrium of Yin and Yang of the whole body. The 12 Main Meridians, twelve Meridian Divergence (12經別) and Meridian Sinew also play an important role in the balance and harmony of the whole body based on the function of the Vicera and Bowels (臟腑). So it is conceivable that the role of TMJ is important in terms of health care.

        내관(PC6).족삼리(ST36) 자침(刺鍼)이 심하통(心下痛) 심하만(心下滿) 등 신경성질환에 미치는 영향

        Objectives : To test the therapeutic efficacy of acupuncture applied to PC6 and ST36 for the relief of fullness of epigastrium or epigastric pain. Subjects and Methods : We enrolled fifty patients in a case series study The patients were mainly female (94 %) with an average age of 55 years $({\pm}15.0)$; the average age of the male patients was 51 years $({\pm}20.0)$. Twenty four percent of patients were in acute phase which epigastric pain had lasted below 1 month. Twenty eight percent of patients were in chronic phase which the pain had lasted over 6 month. The rest were in subacute phase. Acupuncture needles were inserted into PC6 and ST36 bilaterally. The acupuncture treatments were performed 2 times a week for 4 weeks. One treat session was lasted for 30 min. At each visit, overall symptomatic improvement, frequency and intensity of symptoms were checked on a 4 scaled questionnaire. Results : After acupuncture treatment, a progressive improvement of pain intensity was reported in 46 of the 50 patients, including 23 of excellent and 23 of good. The progress of symptom was more superior in subacute phase to acute or chronic phase. The symptom of 22 of 24 patients in subacute phase was improved. No patient experienced minor side-effects during acupuncture treatment. Conclusion : These preliminary data suggest the acupuncture treatment provides good pain relief for most patients presenting with epigastric pain. Randomized trials with appropriate control groups are needed to validate the effectiveness of this therapy in the treatment of epigastric pain.

        Objectives: This study is aimed to recognize the therapy principles of TMJ balancing in Korean medicine. Methods: TMJ diseases in Donguibogam were discussed in the view of Korean medicine basic theory. Results: Manual therapy and fixed therapy using toolswere used for treatment in dislocating jaw by yawn or TMJ diseases in Korean medicine. Conclusions: In Donguibogam, manual therapy and fixed therapy were used for TMJ dislocating, and acupuncture therapy and herbal therapy were used in toothache by dependent on the cause and the symtoms.

        Objectives: The purpose of this review is to investigate the relationship between the extra meridians and the temporomandibular joint. Methods: Literature review on the eight extra meridians and theoretical considerations were performed with a focus on the relationship with the temporomandibular joint. Results: Extra meridians are crucial in the maintenance of the balance of the whole body, especially the structural balance of the anterior-posterior, left-right, superior-inferior, and interior-exterior regions. The foundation of extra meridians occurs in the lower abdominal area and the innate qi. Conclusions: Extra meridians are important players in the maintenance of the balance and harmony within the body, and may function cooperatively with the temporomandibula joint in its role to maintain the yinyang balance within the body.

        기경팔맥(奇經八脈)의 특징과 임상적 의의 연구

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to inquire clinical meaning and characteristic of Eight extra meridians(奇經八脈) by researching building and progression of Eight extra meridians theory. Results: As a result of research of building and progression of Eight extra meridians(奇經八脈) theory, we can regard that the origin of Eight extra meridians was based on lower Danjeon(丹 田) which was the root of Primordial energy and the origin of the Twelve meridians and collaterals(十二經脈) was based on Middle energizer which was the root of Acquired energy. On this, we could know that Eight extra meridians and the Twelve meridians and collaterals are based on Primordial energy and Acquired energy and function of Eight extra meridians and the Twelve meridians and collaterals are complement each other. So, we can say that considering the Twelve meridians and collaterals means that is valued on Acquired energy clinically, and considering Eight extra meridians means that is valued on Primordial energy in health preserving method (養生).

        한의학에서의 생명에 대한 이해

        Objectives: Definition of Life has led an identity and advancement in the knowledge system of science including biomedicine. The world welcomes the new paradigm about the integrative medicine throughout Western Medicine and Traditional Medicine co-exists so far. Methods: Thus this study has comprised how Life was interpreted in Korean Medical history. To reach the purpose, various data and documents about Life subjected to the medical field was collected from medical textbooks and chapters presented in ancient Korean Medicine. Results: Most of important issue is Life as the key even though there are many opinions and conflicts in the view of Life between Western and Korean medical culture. As a result it is not different in the concept of Life each other except for speaking differently same as using the different languages. Integrative Medicine has accepted that it emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapies. Integrative Medicine declares to be a kind of medicine if vary medical system can focus on human being. Conclusions: Since Korean Medicine was early therapeutic medical categories developed based on Dao, Korean Medicine have to focus on mind and body interactive relationship and attribute to the public health care system in the future.

        Objectives : The purpose of this study is to make nine classical needles understood easily through interpreting Nine Classical Needles in Rhymes. Methods : The principle of classification and clinical application of Nine Classical Needle was sorted out referring to 「The beginning of Nine Classical Needles in Rhymes」and 「The presciption and treatment of Nine Classical Needles in Rhymes」which is the chapter of 『Golden Mirror of Medicine』. Results & Conclusions : The Nine Classical Needles, which were designed to get harmonious interaction between human beings and the nature, have been representative medical appliance in Korean Medicine. The needles consist of shear needle, round-pointed needle, spoon needle, lance needle, stiletto needle, round-sharp needle, filiform needle, long needle, and big needle. Nine Classical Needles in Rhymes was formed in a poem format to help us easily memorize the essential contents of Nine Classical Needles. 「The beginning of Nine Classical Needles in Rhymes」dealt with the reasons of making needles and organization principles about Nine Classical Needles. 「The prescription and treatment of Nine Classical Needles in Rhymes」sorted main treatment applications of nine needles, helping understand needles as medical appliance.
