In this study, progressive process is determined to manufacture the fine blanking for the spring lamination used as the linear motor unit of a commercial mobile phone, and design parameters of a die shape having influence the forgeability of progressive die is analyzed. Finite element method (FEM) determine the influence of fine blanking punch parameters. And in order to predict the tendency of process parameters, results of FE-simulation have been trained using artificial neural network (ANN). From the results, optimal punch shape is determined.

The flange is widely used for an interconnection between shafts. It is produced by a hot forging and cold forging as sizing process, continuously. Cold sizing and the die used for forming an automotive flange were analyzed from the viewpoints of die design, friction to obtain a forged product without defects such as cold shots, and unfilling. Taguchi method, FEM and artificial neural network (ANN) are used for undefects and the optimal forging process is performed for validity. From the results, new dies and flanges were fabricated and investigated. Defects such as unfilling laps, and cold shots were not observed.
