Convective heat loss from solar tower receiver is experimentally investigated in wind tunnel with tilt angles and operating conditions. In order to simulate the receiver, an electric heater, which is made of aluminum (width : 100 ㎜, height : 100㎜) is used and installed in the wind tunnel. The convective heat loss from the receiver is dependent on the direction and the velocity of the wind and the surface temperature of the receiver. The tilt angle and surface temperature of the receiver are varied from 0o(cavity facing straight down) and 90o(cavity aligned horizontally) and from 150℃ to 250℃, respectively. Also, the wind speed is changed from 0 to 4㎧. The convective heat loss is obtained by measuring consumed power to the heater to maintain the desired surface temperature. It is concluded that Nusselt number increases with increasing wind speed for all cases. Especially, it is showed that Nusselt number can be maximized when the tilt angle is 30o.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the contents of apigenin and luteolin in vegetables mainly distributed and consumed in Korea. In this study, the contents of apigenin, apigenin-7-O-glucoside, luteolin, and luteolin-7-O-glucoside in vegetables were surveyed by using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). According to the analysis of 27 items (91 samples) in vegetables, the content of total apigenin (the sum of apigenin and apigenin-7-O-glucoside) was quantified in 8 out of the 27 items in vegetables, followed by pepper leaves, parsley, celery, chamnamul, foremost mugwort, and perilla leaves. The content of total luteolin (the sum of luteolin and luteolin-7-O-glucoside) was found in 11 of the 27 items in vegetables, followed by pepper leaves, dandelion, celery, red lettuce, foremost mugwort, and perilla leaves. Celery was divided into stalks and leaves for comparing the contents of apigenin and luteolin. Celery showed higher contents of apigenin and luteolin in leaves than in stalks.

Renal failure is one of the main causes of economic impacts in the poultry industry and complex syndrome with different severity of clinical signs caused by multiple nephropathogenic factors such as infectious bronchitis viral infection and excess salt and calcium in diet. To evaluate the correlation between severity of renal failure and the causative nephropathogenic factors, one-day-old specific pathogen free chicks were treated with either single causative factor or multiple causative factors described as above. Each group was designed as control for non-treated control, IB for infectious bronchitis virus (IB virus) infection, IBHNa for IB virus infection with high diet salt, IBHCa for IB virus infection with high diet calcium, IBHNC for IB virus infection with high diet salt and calcium, HNa for high diet salt, HCa for high diet calcium and HNC for high diet salt and calcium. Chickens were inoculated with IB virus at 1-day-old and remained on their respective diets until 21 day of age. The high dietary salt feeding groups such as IBHNa, IBHNC, HNa, HNC increased water intake, watery diarrhea, general subcutaneous edema and the high dietary calcium feeding groups such as IBHCa and IBHNC showed severe visceral gout. Two more than treated groups caused high mortality in comparison with the single treated groups. IB virus exposure significantly increased urate deposition and lymphocytic interstitial nephritis. Especially urate deposition dramatically increased when excess diet calcium was combined together. In excess diet salt treated groups enlarged edematous kidneys were observed and hypertrophy of glomeruli were showed. These results suggest that IB virus enhanced the incidence and severity on chicken renal failure clearly related to the quantity of salt and calcium.

The results obtained were as follows ; IB virus and high dietary calcium combined treatment showed elevated plasma uric acid. BUN and creatinine values were not characteristic on chicken renal failure. But plasma uric acid values were increased according to renal lesion. Hypercalcemia and hyperuricemia did not induce urate deposition and mineralization in the kidney.

In this study, 161 Police substations in Korea were categorized into six types based on the facility size and the characteristics of each type were analyzed. In addition, 16 facilities which were representative cases of each type were selected and investigated whether the facilities meet the written standards and how police officers are using their working spaces and rooms through field observation and interview. The results showed that there were differences in the installation ratio of required spaces among facility types. Therefore, for improvement of the facility standard, the lists of space need to be modified and the size of each space need to be complemented.
문제중심학습을 적용한 영아 성장발달 모듈 개발 및 평가

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a module for infants in pediatric nursing based on problem-based learning (PBL) and to analyze its effect. Methods: The data used in the study was collected from 79 junior nursing students. For the analysis of the module effect, one group post-test design was applied for measurement of academic achievement. Results: The module for infants is comprised of a 4-hour PBL module. The academic achievement tests are composed of formative (tutor evaluation, self-evaluation) and summative evaluations. The self-evaluation revealed the strong need for PBL and the importance of PBL in the problem solving process and integrative thinking. The mean score of the subjects learning satisfaction, problem solving process and concept map assessments were all above 50 percent. There was no significant difference in the mean score between the infant PBL and other teaching methods. Conclusion: The PBL proved to be a useful learning method to promote the critical and integrative thinking process.
