In order ot determine the diagnostic value of CT in pelvic trauma, esp. acetabular fracture, we analysed 32 cases of pelvic trauma with conventional radiographic and computed tomographic findings. RESULTS : 1. There were 26 males and 6 female and peak age span was 4th decade. 2. In 32 cases of acetabular fractures, single column fracture were diagnosed in 20 cases and two column fracture in 12 cases by CT. Among single column fractures, anterior column fractures were 12 cases and posterior column fractures were 8 cases. Complex fracture was most common type in two column fractures. 3. In 32 cases of acetabular fractures diagnosed by CT, 18 cases could be detected by plain X-ray. 4. Intraarticular bony fragments were detected on CT in 11 cases and on plain X-ray in 2 cases. 5. Combined soft tissue injuries were 13 cases of pelvic hematoma, 1 case of retroperitoneal hematoma and 2 cases of hemarthrosis. 6. CT was useful in acetabular injury to delineate the extent and type of fr cture, localize intraticular bony fragments, characterize joint dislocation and detect the combined soft tissue injury.

The biochemical effects of salicylic acid( SA ) on the leaf senescence of Arabidopsis thaliana were investigated in parallel with the assay of its influence on the development of antioxidant enzymes. SA treatment significantly inhibited the malondialdehyde ( a lipid peroxidation product ) production and chlorophyll loss in senescing leaves during 3 day dark incubation compared to the control. The spectrophotometric analysis of antioxidant enzymes showed that SA treatment caused the increases of catalase, guaiacol peroxidase and glutathione reductase activities. On the catalase isozyme profiles, a CAT3 isozyme band appeared newly only in SA-treated leaves( 0.5 mM and 1.0 mM SA ) at day 1 and then disappeared at day 2 after dark incubation. The intensity of CAT3 band was more strong in the 1.0 mM SA treatment. In the case of glutathione reductase isozymes, SA treatment also stimulated the pre-existing GR3 isozyme activity and induced a new additional GR isozyme(◀) at day 2 after dark incubation. Therefore, it can be assumed that SA may be involved in the induction of antioxidant enzymes leading to the retardation of leaf senescene.
