Effect of High-Energy Electro-Pulses on the Compression Deformation Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy

Compression tests of Ti–6Al–4V alloy were conducted using an electron universal testing machine with discharge voltages that range from 50 V to 70 V and strain rate of 0.01 s −1 . Isothermal compression at equivalent temperatures was also performed on a universal testing machine with furnace, with the same strain rate. Results show that the deformability of Ti–6Al–4V alloy can be significantly improved by high-energy electro-pulses, and the deformation resistance and yield stress were also decreased. Moreover, the effect of high-energy electropulses on compression mechanical properties of Ti–6Al–4V alloy increased with increasing discharge voltage. However, elongation and deformation resistance of compressions with high-energy electro-pulses were higher than isothermal compressions at equivalent temperatures. This result proved that the deformability improvement of Ti–6Al–4V alloy by high-energy electro-pulses results from the joint effects of temperature and electro-plasticity. Fracture modes in different experimental conditions were analyzed by observing the fracture morphologies of specimens by using a scanning electron microscope. Under high-energy electro-pulses, the micro morphology of compression fracture changes from elongated oval to equiaxed dimples, and the fracture modes transfer from intergranular to transgranular fracture.

3-Amyl-4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione (AATT) reacted with Cu2+ or Pb2+ ions in aqueous solutions toform CuAATT and Pb(AATT)2 complexes and their solubility product constants were measured as 10 16.17and 10-20.60, respectively. In the moderately-alkaline media, both chalcopyrite and galena chemisorbedAATT on to their surfaces, and the adsorption amount of AATT on chalcopyrite was bigger than that ongalena, which rendered a stronger hydrophobization toward chalcopyrite. While under the high-alkalinepulp, AATT only chemisorbed on chalcopyrite, not on galena. The micro-flotationfindings indicated thatAATT was a favorable collector forflotation enrichment of chalcopyrite and galena at pH <11.0, andrealized an efficientflotation separation of chalcopyrite from galena under pH>11.5. The CuAATTcomplexwas more insoluble than Pb(AATT)2, which implied a stronger affinity of AATT toward chalcopyrite thangalena and returned their selectiveflotation separation at the high-alkaline condition.

This paper presents a method of heat-assisted magnetic probe recording on perpendicular medium. Electrical current from scanningtunneling microscope (STM) is employed as the major heating source. Recording medium is a strongly-coupled CoNi/Pt multilayeredshow that magnetic marks with an average size of 184 nm were formed for voltages above 4 V. A model is built to simulate the formationof magnetic domains in the processing of probe-based magnetic recording. Simulation results agree with experiments well.
Recent Development and Discussion Related to Individual and Cross-border Bankruptcy Issues in China

The current Enterprise Bankruptcy Law of China, which came into effect in 2006, regulates bankruptcy of enterprises only. In situations where individual debtors could not pay off debts with their whole assets, there is no corresponding legal mechanism to fit. Disputes can only be resolved within the legal framework of civil litigation procedures, instead of bankruptcy procedures. As there is no property available for execution, courts’ execution efficiency had been adversely affected. To cope with these problems, research and discussions have been made by Chinese legislators and legal practitioners in recent years. In this article, the first part introduces PRC legislative backgrounds and process on bankruptcy. The second part enumerates a case on individual debt restructuring to show judicial attempts and explorations on individual bankruptcy. Meanwhile, with the process of economic globalization, the number of foreign-related corporations in China has increased significantly. In this context, crossborder bankruptcy becomes an inevitable topic, under which Chinese courts’ jurisdiction is an issue worth exploring. In the third part, the writer discusses on PRC practices on the principle of reciprocity, Chinese courts’ jurisdiction over cross-border bankruptcy cases and the application of the Centre of Main Interests rule.
Novel Schemes to Optimize Sampling Rate for Compressed Sensing

The fast and accurate spectrum sensing over an ultra- wide bandwidth is a big challenge for the radio environment cogni- tion. Considering sparse signal feature, two novel compressed sens- ing schemes are proposed, which can reduce compressed sampling rate in contrast to the traditional scheme. One algorithm is dynam- ically adjusting compression ratio based on modulation recogni- tion and identification of symbol rate, which can reduce compres- sion ratio. Furthermore, without priori information of the modu- lation and symbol rate, another improved algorithm is proposed with the application potential in practice, which does not need to reconstruct the signals. The improved algorithm is divided into two stages, which are the approaching stage and the monitoring stage. The overall sampling rate can be dramatically reduced with- out the performance deterioration of the spectrum detection com- pared to the conventional static compressed sampling rate algo- rithm. Numerous results show that the proposed compressed sens- ing technique can reduce sampling rate by 35%, with an acceptable detection probability over 0.9.

Thermolysin and its homologs are a group of metalloproteases that have been widely used in both therapeutic and biotechnological applications. We here report the identification and characterization of a novel thermolysin-like protease, BtsTLP1, from insect pathogen Bacillus thuringiensis serovar Sichuansis strain MC28. BtsTLP1 is extracellularly produced in Bacillus subtilis, and the active protein was purified via successive chromatographic steps. The mature form of BtsTLP1 has a molecule mass of 35.6 kDa as determined by mass spectrometry analyses. The biochemical characterization indicates that BtsTLP1 has an apparent Km value of 1.57 mg/ml for azocasein and is active between 20oC and 80oC. Unlike other reported neutral gram-positive thermolysin homologs with optimal pH around 7, BtsTLP1 exhibits an alkaline pH optimum around 10. The activity of BtsTLP1 is strongly inhibited by EDTA and a group of specific divalent ions, with Zn2+ and Cu2+ showing particular effects in promoting the enzyme autolysis. Furthermore, our data also indicate that BtsTLP1 has potential in cleaning applications.

Silkworm (Bombyx mori) pupa protein is one potential source of insect protein for use in food. Immunomodulatory peptides are specific protein fragments that can positively influence human health. Here, we purified a novel immunomodulatory hexapeptide from the alcalase hydrolysate of ultramicro-pretreated silkworm pupa proteinusing Sephadex gel filtration chromatography and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The peptide sequence was determined by liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization– tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS). The results showed that the molecular mass of the purified peptide was 656.17 Da, and the amino acid sequence was Pro-Asn-Pro-Asn-Thr-Asn (PNPNTN). Splenocyte proliferation was 87.35% in the presence of 100 μg/ml of purified peptide. The splenocyte proliferation could be promoted upto 248.4% at 100 μg/ml of PNPNTN after induction by Concanavalin A (Con A). PNPNTN was stable in the presence of the gastrointestinal proteases pepsin and trypsin and at temperatures up to120°C. Taken together, these results show that this novel immunomodulatory hexapeptide from silkworm pupae has potential therapeutic value as an immunomodulatory component of functional food.
