Background/Aims: Anisakiasis is frequent in Jeju Island because of the people`s habit of ingesting raw fish. This study evaluated the clinical characteristics of patients with small bowel anisakiasis and compared them with those of patients with gastric anisakiasis. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 109 patients diagnosed with anisakiasis between May 2003 and November 2011. Results: Of the 109 patients diagnosed with anisakiasis, those with suspicious anisakiasis (n=38) or possible anisakiasis (n=12) were excluded. The age and gender distributions did not differ between patients with small bowel anisakiasis (n=30; age, 45±13 years) and those with gastric anisakiasis (n=29; age, 46±10 years). The mean duration of hospitalization was 5.4±4.3 days for patients with small bowel anisakiasis and 0.5±1.7 days for patients with gastric anisakiasis. Small bowel anisakiasis was accompanied by leukocytosis (76.7% vs 25.5%, p=0.003) and elevated C-reactive protein levels (3.4±3.2 mg/dL vs 0.5±0.3 mg/dL, p=0.009). Contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic computed tomography showed small bowel wall thickening with dilatation in 93.3% (28/30) of patients and a small amount of ascites in 80.0% (24/30) of patients with small bowel anisakiasis. Conclusions: Compared with gastric anisakiasis patients, small bowel anisakiasis patients had a longer hospitalization time, higher inflammatory marker levels, and small bowel wall thickening with ascites. Halide perovskite nanocrystals have easily tunable emissions throughout the visible spectrum, making them an extremely promising material for lightemitting applications. Whereas high quantum yield and long-term colloidal stability have already been achieved for nanocrystals emitting in the red and green spectral range, the blue region currently lags behind with low quantum yields and insufficient colloidal stability. In this study, we present a facile synthetic and postsynthetic approach for obtaining two-dimensional CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets (NPLs) with homogeneous-thickness control of their solidified surface, resulting in sharp photoluminescence and electroluminescence peaks with a deep-blue emission at 465-nm wavelength owing to quantum confinement. The subsequent addition of a solidifying ligand solution seals the surface defects likely stemming from vacancies within a subensemble of weakly emissive NPLs. The overall photoluminescence quantum yield of the blue-emissive colloidal dispersions is consequently enhanced by 65% 2%.

Background/Aims: The point mutations in 23S rRNA gene accounts for the majority of the clarithromycin resistance of Helicobacterpylori. This study aimed to investigate the association between the clarithromycin-resistance of H. pylori and the failure of primary H. pylori eradication therapy in Jeju Island. Methods: Between April 2011 and October 2012, 6,937 patients underwent endoscopy, and H. pylori infection was evaluated in 2,287 patients (33.0%). Total of 110 patients with H. pylori infection were treated with proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy. The result of eradication was evaluated with urea breath test, histology and PCR which were conducted 4 weeks from the last dose of medicine. Results: The patients who had point mutations were 33 (26.0%). A2142G and A2143G mutations were observed in 10 patients (7.9%) and 23 patients (18.1%). Among 110 patients treated with PPI-based triple therapy, the success rate of the eradication therapy was 52.7% (58/110) and 70.7% (58/82) by intention-to-treat and per-protocol analysis, respectively. Fifteen of the 24 patients who failed the eradication therapy showed point mutations; 1 patient (4.2%) showed A2142G mutation and 14 patients (58.3%) showed A2143G mutation. Patients with A2143G mutation H. pylori showed higher failure rate of 87.5%. Patients with A2142G mutation H. pylori showed similar failure rate compared to those of the patients with wild type H. pylori. Conclusions: In Jeju Island, the frequency of 23S rRNA point mutations is similar (26.0%) with other regions of Korea (15.8-31.3%). A2143G mutation is associated with the failure of H. pylori eradication.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Comb-shaped polysulfone copolymers were synthesized by the click reaction, copper(I) catalyzed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, using polysulfone having azidomethyl side group (PSf-N3) and sulfonated polytriazole having one ethynyl chain-end group. PSf-N3 was prepared by the substitution reaction of polysulfone through chloromethylation followed by azidation, and sulfonated polytriazoles having one ethynyl chain-end group was synthesized <I>via</I> the click reaction using 1,4-diethynylbenzene and 4,4′-diazido-2,2′-stilbenedisulfonic acid disodium salt tetrahydrate with CuI followed by end-capping process. Tough, flexible, and transparent membranes could be prepared by solution casting from the comb-shaped polysulfone copolymers and ion exchange capacity (IEC) of the resulting membranes could be controlled by changing the chain length of the sulfonated polytriazoles. The comb-shaped polysulfone membranes showed enhanced physicochemical stability and significantly higher proton conductivity when compared with a sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) (SPAES) membrane having a similar IEC due to the distinct hydrophilic-hydrophobic phase separated morphology. The fuel cell performance of membrane electrode assembly with the comb-shaped polysulfone membrane is superior to those with the SPAES and Nafion-212 membranes at the various operating conditions.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Sulfonated polytriazoles having one ethynyl chain-end group were synthesized. </LI> <LI> Comb-shaped polysulfone copolymers were synthesized by click reaction. </LI> <LI> Excellent physicochemical stability of comb-shaped polysulfone membranes. </LI> <LI> Distinct phase-separated structure of comb-shaped polysulfone membranes. </LI> <LI> Outstanding cell performance of MEA prepared with comb-shaped polysulfone membrane. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Recently, diffusion of Telematics service and explosive increase of using in-vehicle display device such as CNS(Car Navigation System) are becoming the new causes of traffic accidents during driving. This is caused by 'Inattention' from increase of driver's mental workload while he/she is driving. It is the real situation that many countries including Japan are considering a control of In-vehicle device during driving through legislation. This research is studied about the effect of information system at voice or display unit on drivers through the Driver Eye Movement Analysis and measurement of performance ability. The experiment is carried out in the driving simulator environment, and the result presents through the comparative analysis of the driver's visual field via the gaze tracking device and average of correct-answer rates in addition arithmetic performance.
Mobile robot navigation using grid line patterns via probabilistic measurement modeling
Kim, Taeyun,Kim, Jinwhan,Choi, Hyun-Taek Springer-Verlag 2016 INTELLIGENT SERVICE ROBOTICS Vol.9 No.2
<P>Mobile robots are generally equipped with proprioceptive motion sensors such as odometers and inertial sensors. These sensors are used for dead-reckoning navigation in an indoor environment where GPS is not available. However, this dead-reckoning scheme is susceptible to drift error in position and heading. This study proposes using grid line patterns which are often found on the surface of floors or ceilings in an indoor environment to obtain pose (i.e., position and orientation) fix information without additional external position information by artificial beacons or landmarks. The grid lines can provide relative pose information of a robot with respect to the grid structure and thus can be used to correct the pose estimation errors. However, grid line patterns are repetitive in nature, which leads to difficulties in estimating its configuration and structure using conventional Gaussian filtering that represent the system uncertainty using a unimodal function (e.g., Kalman filter). In this study, a probabilistic sensor model to deal with multiple hypotheses is employed and an online navigation filter is designed in the framework of particle filtering. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach, an experiment was performed in an indoor environment using a wheeled mobile robot, and the results are presented.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A series of pore-filling membranes are prepared by impregnating porous cross-linked benzoxazine-benzimidazole copolymer P(<I>p</I>BUa-<I>co</I>-BI) substrates with sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone)s (SPAES)s having different degree of sulfonation for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells operating at high-temperatures (>100°C) and low-humidity (<50% RH) conditions. The SPAESs are synthesized by reacting 4,4’-dihydroxybiphenyl with the mixtures of disulfonate-4,4’-difluorodiphenylsulfone and 4,4’-difluorodiphenylsulfone in different ratios. The porous P(<I>p</I>BUa-<I>co</I>-BI) substrates are prepared by extracting dibutyl phthalate (DBP) included in P(<I>p</I>BUa-<I>co</I>-BI) films using methanol. The P(<I>p</I>BUa-<I>co</I>-BI) films are prepared by stepwise heating the casted <I>N,N-</I>dimethylacetamide solution containing the mixtures of poly[2,2′-(<I>m</I>-phenylene)-5,5′-bibenzimidazole] (PBI), 3-phenyl-3,4- dihydro-6-<I>tert</I>-butyl-2<I>H</I>-1,3-benzoxazine (<I>p</I>BUa), and DBP to 220°C. The pore-filling membranes are found to have much improved dimensional stability and mechanical strength compared with the SPAES membranes. Although the proton conductivity values of the pore-filling membranes are slightly smaller than those of the SPAES membrane, their cell performance is superior to that of the SPAES membrane at 120°C and 40% RH conditions because ultrathin pore-filling membranes (15–20µm) having high mechanical strength can be prepared and they can contain a larger content of chemically-bound water.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> SPAESs having different degree of sulfonation were synthesized as pore-filling polymers. </LI> <LI> Transparent, ultrathin, and highly-flexible pore-filling membranes were developed. </LI> <LI> Acid-base interaction between the porous substrate and filling SPAES was found. </LI> <LI> Excellent physical stability and mechanical strength of the pore-filling membranes. </LI> <LI> Cell performances of MEAs from the pore-filling membranes were highly improved. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Background/Aims: Rabbit anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) is usually incorporated in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to reduce the incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). This study aimed to find optimal ATG doses in patients undergoing human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-mismatched allogeneic HSCT. Methods: We retrospectively collected medical records from 352 consecutive patients with acute myeloid leukemia (n = 214), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (n = 62), or myelodysplastic syndrome (n = 76) in eight centers of Korea between 2005 and 2015. All patients received busulfan-based conditioning without total body irradiation (TBI) and received stem cells from HLA-mismatched donors. Results: In the current study, 5-year overall survival rates of patients receiving low to medium doses of ATG (2.5 to 7.5 mg/kg) were higher than those receiving other doses of ATG (hazard ratio [HR], 0.528; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.311 to 0.897; p = 0.018). The incidence rates of extensive chronic GVHD (ecGVHD) after administration of low to medium doses of ATG were lower than those after other doses of ATG (HR, 0.447; 95% CI, 0.224 ton 0.889; p = 0.022). Conclusions: The low to medium doses of ATG may be associated with improving survival outcomes and reducing incidence of ecGVHD without enhancing the chances of relapse in patients with acute leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome undergoing non-TBI-based HLA-mismatched allogeneic HSCT.
