Fixed point theorems for weak contraction in Intuitionistic fuzzy metric space

Ramesh Kumar Vats,Ramesh Kumar Vats 호남수학회 2016 호남수학학술지 Vol.38 No.2

The notion of weak contraction in intuitionistic fuzzy metric space is well known and its study is well entrenched in the literature. This paper introduces the notion of $(\psi,\alpha,\beta)$-weak contraction in intuitionistic fuzzy metric space. In this contrast, we prove certain coincidence point results in partially ordered intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces for functions which satisfy a certain inequality involving three control functions. In the course of investigation, we found that by imposing some additional conditions on the mappings, coincidence point turns out to be a fixed point. Moreover, we establish a theorem as an application of our results.

A Novel Horizontal Disparity Estimation Algorithm Using Stereoscopic Camera Rig

Ramesh, Rohit,Shin, Heung-Sub,Jeong, Shin-Il,Chung, Wan-Young The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2011 Journal of information and communication convergen Vol.9 No.1

Abstract. Image segmentation is always a challenging task in computer vision as well as in pattern recognition. Nowadays, this method has great importance in the field of stereo vision. The disparity information extracting from the binocular image pairs has essential relevance in the fields like Stereoscopic (3D) Imaging Systems, Virtual Reality and 3D Graphics. The term 'disparity' represents the horizontal shift between left camera image and right camera image. Till now, many methods are proposed to visualize or estimate the disparity. In this paper, we present a new technique to visualize the horizontal disparity between two stereo images based on image segmentation method. The process of comparing left camera image with right camera image is popularly known as 'Stereo-Matching'. This method is used in the field of stereo vision for many years and it has large contribution in generating depth and disparity maps. Correlation based stereo-matching are used most of the times to visualize the disparity. Although, for few stereo image pairs it is easy to estimate the horizontal disparity but in case of some other stereo images it becomes quite difficult to distinguish the disparity. Therefore, in order to visualize the horizontal disparity between any stereo image pairs in more robust way, a novel stereo-matching algorithm is proposed which is named as "Quadtree Segmentation of Pixels Disparity Estimation (QSPDE)".

      • B-14 : Examining the Mode of PAC Application with Submerged Hollow Fiber Membrane for Wastewater Treatment

        ( Ramesh T ),이재욱,심왕근,문희 한국화학공학회 2007 화학공학의이론과응용 Vol.10 No.2

The use of low- pressure-driven membranes with powdered activated carbon (PAC) is gaining greater importance for the wastewater reuse. Submerged hollow fiber membrane allows PACs to be added directly into the tank containing the immersed membrane. However, this study highlights the importance of the method of application of PAC, which determines the organic removability and the permeate flux pattern by the hybrid system. Three different scenarios, namely, PAC addition in the tank, PAC in the presence of calcium chloride and a novel method of PAC coating as a secondary membrane, were evaluated. The results indicated that, when PAC was used along with CaCl2, the amount of PAC requirement could be reduced up to 70 %, depending on the type of PAC used. However, the PAC coated membrane proved to be far more superior to adding PAC in the tank, in terms of organic removal efficiency and preventing membrane fouling. This study is significant in order to understand and carefully select the method of using PAC for membrane hybrid system, so that PAC dose can be minimized and achieve enhanced performance.

      • An Adaptive Interpolation Algorithm using Two Separate Modes

Ramesh Kumar Lama,Goo-Rak Kwon 한국멀티미디어학회 2010 한국멀티미디어학회 국제학술대회 Vol.2010 No.-

This paper presents an adaptive interpolation algorithm for an image resizing based on two separate modes in terms of activity of pixel in an image. First mode corresponds to smooth region and interpolation operation is performed by the conventional nearest neighbor method because this method is more computationally efficient and gives good quality result for pixels having neighboring pixels with pixel intensity in close proximity to each other. Second mode corresponds to complex region. The target pixel is computed based on Newton interpolation method. To preserve the edge details and to reduce the aliasing effect in scaled image, consecutive pixels are separated into two groups. Group with highly relative pixels is selected for effective interpolation. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional methods even though the computational complexity is low.

      • Reduction of Blocking Artifact using Edge Information

        Ramesh Kumar Lama,Il-Chul Park,Jae-Young Pyun,Goo-Rak Kwon 대한전자공학회 2010 ICEIC:International Conference on Electronics, Inf Vol.1 No.1

A new method of reducing the blocking artifact in low bit rate coded image is presented in this paper. The proposed algorithm operates being based on the edge pixel residing across the block. The strength of deblocking filter is determined according the number of edge pixel in corresponding block. Proposed algorithm removes the blocking artifact in coded image with good subjective and objective result.

Pretreatment in Reverse Osmosis Seawater Desalination: A Short Review

        Ramesh Valavala,Jin Sik Sohn,Ji Hee Han,Nam Guk Her,Yeo Min Yoon 대한환경공학회 2011 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.16 No.4

Reverse osmosis (RO) technology has developed over the past 40 years to control a 44% market share in the world desalting production capacity and an 80% share in the total number of desalination plants installed worldwide. The application of conventional and low-pressure membrane pretreatment processes to seawater RO (SWRO) desalination has undergone accelerated development over the past decade. Reliable pretreatment techniques are required for the successful operation of SWRO processes, since a major issue is membrane fouling associated with particulate matter/colloids, organic/inorganic compounds, and biological growth. While conventional pretreatment processes such as coagulation and granular media filtration have been widely used for SWRO, there has been an increased tendency toward the use of ultrafiltration/microfiltration (UF/MF) instead of conventional treatment techniques. The literature shows that both the conventional and the UF/MF membrane pretreatment processes have different advantages and disadvantages. This review suggests that, depending on the feed water quality conditions, the suitable integration of multiple pretreatment processes may be considered valid since this would utilize the benefits of each separate pretreatment.

      • Effect of fermented Panax ginseng extract (GINST) on oxidative stress and antioxidant activities in major organs of aged rats

        Ramesh, T.,Kim, S.W.,Sung, J.H.,Hwang, S.Y.,Sohn, S.H.,Yoo, S.K.,Kim, S.K. Pergamon Press ; Elsevier Science Ltd 2012 Experimental Gerontology Vol.47 No.1

The intracellular levels of oxidant and antioxidant balances are gradually distorted during the aging process. An age associated elevation of oxidative stress occurring throughout the lifetime is hypothesized to be the major cause of aging. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the putative antioxidant activity of the fermented Panax ginseng extract (GINST) on lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status of major organs of aged rats compared to young rats. Increased levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), urea and creatinine were observed in the serum of aged rats. Increased levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and significantly lowered activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) were observed in the liver, kidneys, heart and lungs of aged rats, when compared with those in young rats. Quantitative analysis of the non-enzymatic antioxidants such as reduced glutathione (GSH), ascorbic acid and α-tocopherol levels showed significantly lower values in the liver, kidneys, heart and lungs of aged rats. On the other hand, administration of the fermented Panax ginseng extract (GINST) to aged rats resulted in increased activities of SOD, CAT, GPx, GR and GST as well as elevation in GSH, ascorbic acid and α-tocopherol levels. Besides, the level of MDA, AST, ALT, urea and creatinine were reduced on administration of GINST to aged rats. These results suggested that treatment of GINST can improve the antioxidant status during aging, thereby minimizing the oxidative stress and occurrence of age-related disorders associated with free radicals.

Detection of Alzheimer Disease Using Grow Cut Method and Brain Volume Estimation

        Ramesh Kumar Lama,Goo-Rak Kwon 한국정보기술학회 2015 한국정보기술학회논문지 Vol.13 No.4

The loss of neurons in the brain is one major indication of Alzheimers disease(AD). Voxel based MRI studies have demonstrated that reduction in brain volume shows the atropic changes in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) preceding the onset of AD type dementia. In many cases, medical experts use the magnetic resonance image(MRI) to quantitatively measure the loss of neurons by shrinkage of structure of interest in brain. Moreover, atrophy in any particular structure will directly lead to reduction in overall size of brain. This paper proposes a new method for the early detection of AD algorithm based on the volume estimation of images. Training processes are performed to generate two training classes, healthy control(HC) and AD patients. The volume of brain using segmentation of brain MRIs are estimated. Finally, this paper utilizes the advantages of grow cut method to extract the brain volume from MRI accurately. The proposed method is simple yet efficient and the experimental results have shown its superiority.
