        광가입자 선로망 구성을 위한 설계모형 조사연구

        Due to the trend of evolution toward a broadband communication network with fiber-optics, the design and operation of fiber-optic network have been received a great deal of research attention recently. Furthermore, even a single fiber link failure in the network may result in severe service loss. Thus, the network survivability becomes an importantissue in planning and designing the network. This survey is on modelling of various fiber-optic subscriber loop network(FSLN) design problems, which are essential ones for providing broadband communication services and B-ISDN services, Models are classified and investigated as either conventional decomposition-iteration approach or integrated design method. To build survivable networks, SHR models are also suggested by ring control schemes. The result of this study will be effectively applied to build a design model for FSLN in the practical applications.

      • 패턴言語 側面에서 본 大學캠퍼스의 外部空間 構成에 관한 硏究

        A university campus has to plan to cause the activities of outside space, having organic system among the university facilities. Moreover, the composition of outside space is very important because the various activities, induced form outside space owe to the specific character of university, are decisive factor for the qualities of university environment. The results observed from pattern language are summarized as follows ; 1. Starting from very symbolic and functional main building, collage has had large activity space at the front of it and small activity space arround it. By this way, campus consists of the collage, at present but at the point of aporoach and prevention of noise, the project maybe is profitable. It concentrates core system on the center of the camps and arranges building with mutual relations. 2. At Present, main road system is made up of the uncertain separation of load and pedestrain's path resultes from the types of stright line connecting the main entrance and the main building, but the project maybe is more useful about approach and security than the present time by making a trapezoid inside circlar road in the center of campus and profitable pedestrian road. 3. At present, in two groups of main building and architectural engineering building, the activities of campus are centerized but perhaps the syntheic project is expected to reduce the distribution of activities as it makes functional arrangements. 4. At the point of funtionality and symbolizm. The project of facilities-syntheses has more possitive aspects than campus at present, but financially the possibility of performance has many unreasonable aspects.

      • 입원 환자 영양검색 전산 프로그램 개발

        Background : About 30% of patients in the hospital are under nourishment. A large portion of people are undernourished when they are admitted to the hospital and in the majority of these, undernutrition develops further while in hospital. Patient-Generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA), a method of nutritional assessment based on clinical judgment, has been widely used to assess the nutritional status of adults for both clinical and research purposes. Modified PG-SGA can be used as a nutrition screening tool, and a comprehensive nutrition assessment is desirable for those who are malnourished. The purpose of this study is to develop a simple, reliable and valid nutrition screening program(NSP). Methods : We applied the nutrition screening program(NSP) to adult inpatients who are at risk of malnutrition using the Modified Patient-Generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA) and objective assessment(electrical medical record data). Results : Therefore simple and beneficial NSP is developed for patients with severe malnutrition. Using NSP. nutritional information of the severe malnutrition patient should be shared with the physicians and they should be taken care of by clinical dietitians to improve their nutritional status. Conclusion : The Modified PG-SGA and nutrition screening tool are simple, reliable and valid nutrition screening program(NSP).

      • 세포질내 정자주입법(ICSI)에 있어서 정자흡입 및 난자내 주입방법에 관한 연구

        Study on Method of Sperm Aspiration and Injection into an Oocyte in Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI) Immobilization of spermatozoa prior to intracytoplasmic sperm iniection(ICSI) sometimes results in crooked tail and this makes it difficult to aspirate sperm into an injection pipette tail first. Head-first sperm aspiration into an injection pipette avoid this problem due to the bigger size of the sperm head. The effect of head or tail-first sperm injection into an oocyte on fertilization cleavage, percentage of grade I embryos and development to blastocyst stage in ICSI program has been studied. A single living immobilized spermatozoa from oligoasthenozoospermic patient was injected into an oocyte head-first or tail-first according to the treatment. Eighteen hours after microinjection, oocytes ware inspected for survival and fertilization Fertilized oocytes with two pronuclei were cultured in 30μl drop of mHTF supplemented with 10% heat-inactivated follicular fluid(FF) at 37℃. On day 2. embryo transfer was performed with cleaved embryos. The remaining 2-8 cell stage embryos were co-cultured with BRL cells in mHTF + 10% FF for 72 hours and the developmental stage was observed. The data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance. A total of 164 oocytes from 36 cycles were assigned to earth treatment and ICSI was performed(88 head-first, tail-first). The rates of normal fertilization were 81.8% and 76.3% for head-first and tail-first, respectively. Of the fertilized oocytes, the percentage of cleaved embryos and the percentage of grade 1 embryo among cleaved embryos were 88.9% and 68.8%, 93.1% and 74.1% for head-first and tail-first, respectively. Of the 2-8 cell embryos cultured, 44.4%(16/36) and 50.0%(10/20) for head first and tail first, respectively developed to blastocyst stage. There were no differences in fertilization, cleavage, rates of grade 1 embryos, and development to blastocyst stage. In conclusion, head-first or tail-first sperm injection into an oocyte in ICSI program does not affect fertilization and subsequent embryo development to blastocyst stage in vitro.

      • AP2α is essential for MUC8 gene expression in human airway epithelial cells

        <P>Mucins are high molecular weight proteins that make up the major components of mucus. Hypersecretion of mucus is a feature of several chronic inflammatory airway diseases. MUC8 is an important component of airway mucus, and its gene expression is upregulated in nasal polyp epithelium. Little is known about the molecular mechanisms of MUC8 gene expression. We first observed overexpression of activator protein-2alpha (AP2α) in human nasal polyp epithelium. We hypothesized that AP2α overexpression in nasal polyp epithelium correlates closely with MUC8 gene expression. We demonstrated that phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) treatment of the airway epithelial cell line NCI-H292 increases MUC8 gene and AP2α expression. In this study, we sought to determine which signal pathway is involved in PMA-induced MUC8 gene expression. The results show that the protein kinase C and mitogen-activating protein/ERK kinase (MAPK) pathways modulate MUC8 gene expression. PD98059 or ERK1/2 siRNA and RO-31-8220 or PKC siRNA significantly suppress AP2α as well as MUC8 gene expression in PMA-treated cells. To verify the role of AP2α, we specifically knocked down AP2α expression with siRNA. A significant AP2α knock-down inhibited PMA-induced MUC8 gene expression. While dominant negative AP2α decreased PMA-induced MUC8 gene expression, overexpressing wildtype AP2α increased MUC8 gene expression. Furthermore, using lentiviral vectors for RNA interference in human nasal polyp epithelial cells, we confirmed an essential role for AP2α in MUC8 gene expression. From these results, we concluded that PMA induces MUC8 gene expression through a mechanism involving PKC, ERK1/2, and AP2α activation in human airway epithelial cells. J. Cell.         Genetic Diversity of Thread-sail Filefish Stephanolepis cirrhifer Populations in Korean Coastal Waters Inferred from Mitochondrial DNA Sequence Analysis

        The genetic diversity and population genetic structure of thread-sail filefish, Stephanolepis cirrhifer (Temminck & Schlegel), were examined with a nucleotide sequence analysis of a 495bp fragment of the 5'-end of the cytochrome b gene in 113 fish collected from five populations from the south and east coasts of the Korean Peninsula. Seventeen variable nucleotide sites and 16 haplotypes were defined. The observed haplotypes had a shallow haplotype genealogy and no geographical association. Most of the populations had high haplotype diversity and low nucleotide diversity, and significant negative values for Fu's $F_S$, suggesting rapid, recent population growth from an ancestral population and sudden population expansion. The estimated pairwise fixation indices ($F_{ST}$) indicate that substantial gene flow occurs among these populations. Thread-sail filefish in the South Sea of Korea and East Sea Korean populations forms a single panmictic population. Thus, thread-sail filefish in these areas should be treated as one management unit.

        Original Articles : Genetic Diversity and Gene Flow Patterns in Pollicipes mitella in Korea Inferred from Mitochondrial DNA Sequence Analysis

        Genetic diversity and gene flow patterns in Pollicipes mitella were investigated with a nucleotide sequence analysis of 514 base pairs from the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene (COI) in 124 samples collected from six Korean populations. Intotal, 59 haplotypes were defined by 40 variable nucleotide sites in the COI region. The haplotypes had shallow haplotype genealogy and no geographic associations. All populations had high haplotype diversity (0.909 to 0.979) and low nucleotide diversity(0.0055 to 0.0098). The haplotypes with recently diverged nucleotides were distributed by long-range larvae dispersal among regional populations. The pairwise fixation indices (FST) estimated with the exact test and migration rates indicate that substantialgene flow has occurred among populations as a result of sea currents, except between the Uljin (East Sea coast) and other Korean populations. This suggests that significant genetic differentiation and low migration rates have affected the Uljin population.
