여자대학생의 혈중 백혈구 수치와 심폐지구력, 체지방률, 혈중지질 농도와의 상관성

Whether inflammatory markers are associated with cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, and blood lipids across gender and ethnic groups remains less clear. We investigated the relations of white blood cell(WBC) count with cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition(percent body fat), and blood lipids, i,e, total cholesterol(TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), and triglycerides(TG), in 145 Korean female college students. We measured WBC count and blood lipids, and cardiorespiratory fitness levels were indirectly assessed by Harvard 5-minute step test. Pearson product-moment correlation was used to investigate the partial associations of WBC count with cardiorespiratory fitness, percent body fat, and blood lipids(TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, TG) after adjustment for age, cigarette smoking, alcohol intake, physical activity, and dietary habits. WBC count was inversely associated with cardiorespiratory fitness(r=-0.27) and positively associated with percent body fat(r=0.31) after adjust- ment for multiple risk factors. However, there was a weak and non-significant association between WBC count with TC(r=0.04), HDL-C(r=0.07), LDL-C(r=-0.13), and TG(r=0.02) respectively. We conclude that improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness may reduce white blood cell count, while being obese may increase white blood cell count in Korean female college students.

Red-ripe ``Betatiny`` jujube-shaped cherry tomato fruits via stem maintenance or stem removal were stored at 20℃ for 12 days. Their quality and microbial safety parameters like their respiration rate, weight loss, soluble solids content, tiratable acidity, firmness, hue valus, aerobic microflra, coliform, yeast and mold count, and decay were evaluated during their storage. The jujube-shaped cherry tomato fruits whose stems were removed lost less weight than the fruies whose stems were maintained during their 12 days of storage. The stem removal lowered the resporation more significantly than the stem maintenance, and the formation of novel tissues at the stem scar that resulted from the stem removal was observed morphologically. The SSC, TA and hue value of the skin color decreased after eight storage days, but showed no difference between the stem maintenance and removal. The stem had higher microbial counts like aerobic microflora, coliform, and yeast and mold counts. The stem maintenance showed a short shelf-life because molds grew on the attached stem after five storage days. The shelf-life of the jujube-shaped cherry tomato fruits whose stems were removed was about eight days, but that of the fruits whose stems were maintained and that were stored at 20℃ was only about six days.

Purpose: This study was to evaluate the applicability of an emergent care management simulation practicum which is for enhancing nursing students emergent care management competency based on the Nursing Education Simulation Model. Methods: One group pre-post experimental design was conducted for evaluation of the applicability of the simulation practicum. A convenient sample of 60 senior nursing students was participated. The simulation practicum was provided for 26 hours per student at the end of the first semester of senior year. Educational practices in simulation scale, simulation design scale and learning outcomes were measured. Higher positive correlations between variables represent applicability. Descriptive analysis, paired t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used for data analyses. Results: Among contractual components of nursing education simulation model, educational practices in simulation and simulation design (r=.80, p<.010), learning outcomes (r=.71-.28, p<.050), simulation design and learning outcomes (r=.72-.30, p<.050) were significantly correlated. Critical thinking (t=-3.63, p<.050) and problem solving competence (t=-2.55, p<.050) were significantly increased by this simulation practicum. It represents the applicability of an emergent care management simulation practicum. Conclusion: This emergent care management simulation practicum was appropriate to enhance the nursing students’ emergent care management coping competency.
