        Association between hearing loss and physical performance in patients on maintenance hemodialysis

        Background: The correlation between hearing loss (HL) and physical performance in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) remains poorly investigated. This study explored the association between HL and physical performance in patients on MHD. Methods: This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted between July 2020 and April 2021 in seven hemodialysis centers in Shanghai and Suzhou, China. The hearing assessment was performed using pure-tone average (PTA). Physical performance was assessed using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT), handgrip strength, and gait speed. Results: Finally, 838 adult patients (male, 516 [61.6%]; 61.2 ± 2.6 years) were enrolled. Among them, 423 (50.5%) had mild to profound HL (male, 48.6% and female, 53.4%). Patients with HL had poorer physical performance than patients without HL (p < 0.001). TUGT was positively correlated with PTA (r = 0.265, p < 0.001), while handgrip strength and gait speed were negatively correlated with PTA (r = –0.356, p < 0.001 and r = –0.342, p < 0.001, respectively). Physical performance in patients aged <60 years showed significant dose-response relationships with HL. After adjusting for confounders, the odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for HL across the TUGT quartiles (lowest to highest) were 1.00 (reference), 1.15 (0.73–1.81), 1.69 (1.07–2.70), and 2.87 (1.69–4.88) (p for trend = 0.005). Conclusion: Lower prevalence of HL was associated with a faster TUGT and a stronger handgrip strength in patients on MHD.

        Does H3K27M Mutation Impact Survival Outcome of High-Grade Spinal Cord Astrocytoma?

        Objective: To evaluate the impact of H3K27M mutation in the prognosis of histological high-grade intramedullary astrocytoma. Methods: A total of 78 patients who were diagnosed with high-grade spinal cord astrocytoma were included. Clinical data consisting demographic, radiological, molecular features and treatment data were recorded. Univariate and multivariate Cox analysis were performed to investigate variables associated with survival outcome of histological high-grade spinal cord astrocytoma. Results: Median survival time was 21 months. Overall survival (OS) at 1 and 3 years was 65.7% and 40.7%, respectively. Sex, location, and tumor span did not present significant association with OS. Patients with H3K27M mutation showed significant shorter duration of symptom than patients with H3K27 wild-type. As respect to adjuvant treatment, adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy were associated with favorable OS (both p = 0.01). Younger patients (age ≤ 18 years) had shorter OS (p = 0.008) than adult patients (age > 18 years). Of note, H3K27M mutation did not show significant impact on the survival outcome, regardless of histology grade 3 or grade 4 (p = 0.3). Conclusion: Histological high-grade spinal cord astrocytoma has dismal prognosis. Our study demonstrated that H3K27M mutation did not show significant impact on survival outcome of histological high-grade spinal cord astrocytoma.

      • Research of Acoustic Emission Testing Method with Application to Monitored for Wind Turbines

        Acoustic Emission method of nondestructive check is based on exertion wave radiation and their registration during fast local material structure reorganization. It is used as a means of analysis of materials, constructions, productions control and diagnosis during operating time. In the article, it is applied to structural health monitoring of Wind Turbines. Acoustic emission testing is based condition monitoring system uses data already collected at the wind turbine controller. It is an effective way to monitor wind turbines for early warning of failures and performance issues. We used a number of measurements to develop anomaly detection algorithms and investigated classification techniques using clustering algorithms and principal components analysis for capturing fault signatures. When registering signal amplitude it is required to consider its frequency distribution connecting each amplitude rate with the corresponding vibration rate. The correlation and signal to noise ratio were evaluated by the algorithm based on frequency spectrum. Classical method of frequency distortion influence exclusion consists of FRF calculation with subsequent adjustment of received signals spectral characteristics.

        A Joint Control Strategy for Automobile Active Grille Shutter and Cooling Fan

        As an emerging technology improving fuel consumption, active grille shutter (AGS) has been applied in engine cooling system. For the reason of unreasonable matching method of grille opening and cooling fan, the problem of engine overcooling is widespread. As components with similar function of adjusting cooling air flow, the AGS and the cooling fan are separated from each other in parameter matching and operation which reduce cooling efficiency and fuel economy. To achieve precise cooling and improve fuel economy, a joint control strategy for AGS and cooling fan was proposed by using computational fluid dynamics. In order to verify the feasibility of the strategy, the fuel economy tests were carried out at 0 km/h, 90 km/h and 120 km/h, respectively. The results showed that the fuel consumption under the three working conditions was reduced by 0.01 L/ 100 km, 0.07 L/ 100 km and 0.13 L/ 100 km, respectively, indicating that the proposed strategy can significantly reduce fuel consumption.

        Extraction separation of toluene/cyclohexane with hollow fiber supported ionic liquid membrane

        A supported liquid membrane with ionic liquid was used for the separation of toluene/cyclohexane. Theinteractions of ionic liquid with toluene and cyclohexane were calculated and experimentally studied by quantum chemicalcalculation and liquid-liquid extraction process. The results showed [BPy][BF4] have stronger interaction with toluenethan that with cyclohexane. The selectivity of SILM processes was larger than 10 at the temperature of 323 K and theflow rate of 13.5 mL·min-1 on both shell side and lumen side. Due to the higher viscosity of IL, SILM process hadgood long-term stability. As the effects of mass transfer driving force of SILM process, the flux and removal efficiencyincreased with increase of initial toluene concentration, while the selectivity decreased because of the competitive transport. Base on the resistance in-series model and experimental results, the mass transfer resistance was mainly lay liquidmembrane phase. The influence of flow rates on both sides was slight. The higher temperature could enhance the masstransfer performance significantly. The removal efficiency increased from 28.2% to 45.1% with the increasing of operationtemperature from 298 K to 323 K.

        Research on the Impact of Shandong Province’s FDI on Economic Growth under the Background of One Belt One Road

        Purpose: After the reform and opening up, China s overall economic development has entered a new era. From mutual investment and trade transactions between domestic provinces and regions to investment and trade with foreign companies, the continuous supplement of investment funds makes the follow-up development of all aspects of economic development smoother and has played a strong impetus. effect. Foreign direct investment has many influences on the economic development of a country or region. Research design, data and methodology: This article uses the sample data of Shandong Province from 2011 to 2019 to analyze the foreign direct investment in Shandong Province by industry, region, method and other aspects, and study the relationship and influence between foreign direct investment and economic growth. Results: The results show that there is a relatively close relationship between foreign direct investment and economic growth, and it has played a role in promoting economic development in many aspects such as industrial structure, foreign trade, and employment. Conclusions: At the same time, corresponding suggestions are put forward based on the analysis and conclusions drawn.

        Research on Participation and Position Evaluation of Korean Manufacturing Global Value Chain: Based on the Comparative Analysis with China and the United States

        Purpose – This article will take the Korean manufacturing industry as an example to estimate Korea’s global value chain status from the perspective of overall and sub-industry, hoping to provide a theoretical reference for Korean manufacturing to climb the global value chain. Design/methodology – Based on the WIOD data. The data is calculated by using MATLAB (2014a) coding. The data for 6 sectors are classified according to the International Standard Industrial Classification revision 3 (ISIC Rev. 3), the WIOD data are used to calculate and compare the position, participation and dynamics of the Korea, China and USA` manufacturing industry in the 1995-2016. Findings – The empirical results supported conclusions of the theoretical model. In the Korean GVC of electrical and optical sector, while stronger forward linkages than backward linkages to GVC are advantageous for an average advanced country, the benefits of downstream tasks are pronounced for non-advanced countries. And proved the correlation for an index to capture a country’s upstream position or downstream position, it makes sense to compare that Korea’s exports of intermediates in the same sector that are used by China and USA. Originality/value – The first is to re-examine the characteristics of South Korea’s participation in global value chains under a more systematic and accurate theoretical framework, which provides a new empirical reference for related research; the second is to content covers of the manufacturing 6 sectors, so as to more completely describe the characteristics of Korean manufacturing’s participation in global value chains; The value of this paper is providing empirical evidence of the effect of Korea’s the GVC of manufacturing sectors. In the GVC of 6 sectors, first three have a higher position in the value chain and are in the upper middle and upper reaches of the GVC. The latter two have a low GVC position index, which has become the main sector that pulls down the overall position of Korea’s manufacturing industry.

        Fault diagnosis of rotating machinery based on kernel density estimation and Kullback-Leibler divergence

        Based on kernel density estimation (KDE) and Kullback-Leibler divergence (KLID), a new data-driven fault diagnosis method is proposedfrom a statistical perspective. The ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) together with the Hilbert transform is employedto extract 95 time- and frequency-domain features from raw and processed signals. The distance-based evaluation approach isused to select a subset of fault-sensitive features by removing the irrelevant features. By utilizing the KDE, the statistical distribution ofselected features can be readily estimated without assuming any parametric family of distributions; whereas the KLID is able to quantifythe discrepancy between two probability distributions of a selected feature before and after adding a testing sample. An integrated Kullback-Leibler divergence, which aggregates the KLID of all the selected features, is introduced to discriminate various faultmodes/damage levels. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated via the case studies of fault diagnosis for bevel gearsand rolling element bearings, respectively. The observations from the case studies show that the proposed method outperforms the supportvector machine (SVM)-based and neural network-based fault diagnosis methods in terms of classification accuracy. Additionally,the influences of the number of selected features and the training sample size on the classification performance are examined by a set ofcomparative studies.
