      • Fire Detection Based on Hidden Markov Models

Teng, Zhu,Kim, Jeong-Hyun,Kang, Dong-Joong 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 Transaction on control, automation and systems eng Vol.12 No.3

In this paper, a novel method of real-time fire detection based on HMMs is presented. First, we present an analysis of tire characteristics that provides evidence supporting the use of HMMs to detect fire; second, we propose an algorithm for detecting candidate fire pixels that entails the detection of moving pixels, fire-color inspection, and pixels clustering. The main contribution of this paper is the establishment and application of a hidden Markov fire model by combining the state transition between fire and non-tire with fire motion information to reduce data redundancy. The final decision is based on this model which includes training and application; the training provides parameters for the HMM application. The experimental results show that the method provides both a high detection rate and a low false alarm rate. Furthermore, real-time detection has been effectively realized via the learned parameters of the HMM, since the most time-consuming components such as HMM training are performed off-line.

An Approach for Security Problems in Visual Surveillance Systems by Combining Multiple Sensors and Obstacle Detection

Teng, Zhu,Liu, Feng,Zhang, Baopeng,Kang, Dong-Joong The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2015 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.10 No.3

As visual surveillance systems become more and more common in human lives, approaches based on these systems to solve security problems in practice are boosted, especially in railway applications. In this paper, we first propose a robust snag detection algorithm and then present a railway security system by using a combination of multiple sensors and the vision based snag detection algorithm. The system aims safety at several repeatedly occurred situations including slope protection, inspection of the falling-object from bridges, and the detection of snags and foreign objects on the rail. Experiments demonstrate that the snag detection is relatively robust and the system could guarantee the security of the railway through these real-time protections and detections.

      • Real-time Lane detection by using multiple cues

        Zhu Teng,Jeong-Hyun Kim,Dong-Joong Kang 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10

People have a growing interest for driver assistant systems that are used to monitor the driving conditions by visual technique, and warn and guide drivers the road conditions. This paper proposes a real-time lane detection algorithm which is a necessary part for driver assistant system and unmanned vehicle. The algorithm presented in this paper integrates multiple cues, including bar filter which is efficient to detect bar-shape objects like road lane, color cue, and Hough Transform (HT). After obtaining integrated multiple cues we utilize particle filtering technique to realize lane tracking, which guarantees the robust and real-time lane detection. Experimental results show that the algorithm gives a precise and robust detection of lane in various situations.

      • Robust Inland Waterway Ship Tracking via Orthogonal Particle Filter-based Predator

        Fei Teng,Qing Liu,Lin Zhu 보안공학연구지원센터(IJSIP) 2014 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.7 No.6

Tracking-Learning-Detection (TLD), also known as Predator, has become one of the most popular state-of-the-art algorithms in the domain of visual tracking in recent years. It has demonstrated outstanding performance in the application of long-term tracking of a human face in unconstrained videos. In this paper, we address the problem of tracking a single ship in inland waterway CCTV videos given its location in the first frame and no other prior information. Firstly, we deeply analyze Predator in a perspective of control system and point out the search strategy in detection procedure is the most time-consuming part in Predator system. Secondly, in order to speed up the whole pipeline, we propose a novel motion model based on extended particle filter with orthogonal design. Due to the power of particle optimization and re-combination with orthogonal design, we can relate the motion of object of interest better and obtain the most likely candidates of object regions more effectively. Finally, both qualitative and quantitative evaluations on numerous challenging CCTV videos demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves favorable performance in terms of efficiency and accuracy.

      • 論戰國時期法思想中的道家形象

朱騰(Zhu Teng) 경북대학교 인문학술원 2009 동서사상 Vol.7 No.-

The Warring State was a time progressively predominated by instrumental rationality. Proceeding under this background, the academy of pre-Qin also displayed a complicated configuration because of the impulse of the factual circumstance. Lao-tzu was the founder of Tao-chia. His thought took into account both sageliness within and kingliness without, so it could be summarized as the “ruling body and state simultaneously” mode of Taoism. When the Warring State came, the practical problem compelled Taoism to reconsider and develop the theory of Lao-tzu, which resulted into the progressive division of Taoism. Chuang-tzu preferred the sageliness within of Lao-tzu’s theory, and Hung-lao inclined to the kingliness without of Lao-tzu’s theory. This difference made the gap between transcendental theory of Tao-fa and realistic theory of Tao-fa. Furthermore, during the communication among the different schools in the Warring State, the influence of Taoism, especially Hung-lao, penetrated into other schools, and finally became the common topic of many important schools, including Confucians, fa-chia and tza-chia. The persistence of this far-reaching influence could be attributed into the characteristics of Hung-lao itself and the contribution of Chi-hsia Academy. More important things were that the development of common topic related to many important theoretical problems. The first one is the division of fa-chia. The existing division types could not express the nuances among the different branches of fa-chia because they may read the history with the wrong sense of time, or be lack of the philosophical exploration. In a word, they didn’t pay enough attention to the influence of Taoism, especially Hung -lao, to fa-chia. In order to fill the blank, this paper will stand in the influence of Taoism and divide fa-chia into practical fa-chia and theoretical fa-chia. The second one is the background of the history of thought when the Han dynasty chose Hung-lao in its opening. At largely, the existing works attributed the choice of the opening Han into the depression of society and economy in the period of this dynasty. In turn, the prevalent status of the thought world was neglected. In fact, in the opening of Han, Hung-lao could diffuse by itself and persist its influence by Confucian. Hence, the advantage of Taosim was still the prevalent status of the thought world in the opening of Han. This is the real background of the choice of the opening period of Han.

A phase II trial of cytoreductive surgery combined with niraparib maintenance in platinum-sensitive, secondary recurrent ovarian cancer: SGOG SOC-3 study

        Ting-Yan Shi,Sheng Yin,Jianqing Zhu,Ping Zhang,Jihong Liu,Libing Xiang,Yaping Zhu,Sufang Wu,Xiaojun Chen,Xipeng Wang,Yin-Cheng Teng,Tao Zhu,Aijun Yu,Yingli Zhang,Yanling Feng,He Huang,Wei Bao,Yanli Li 대한부인종양학회 2020 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.31 No.3

Background: In China, secondary cytoreductive surgery (SCR) has been widely used in ovarian cancer (OC) over the past two decades. Although Gynecologic Oncology Group-0213 trial did not show its overall survival benefit in first relapsed patients, the questions on patient selection and effect of subsequent targeting therapy are still open. The preliminary data from our pre-SOC1 phase II study showed that selected patients with second relapse who never received SCR at recurrence may still benefit from surgery. Moreover, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) maintenance now has been a standard care for platinum sensitive relapsed OC. To our knowledge, no published or ongoing trial is trying to answer the question if patient can benefit from a potentially complete resection combined with PARPi maintenance in OC patients with secondary recurrence. Methods: SOC-3 is a multi-center, open, randomized, controlled, phase II trial of SCR followed by chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance vs chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance in patients with platinum-sensitive second relapsed OC who never received SCR at recurrence. To guarantee surgical quality, if the sites had no experience of participating in any OC-related surgical trials, the number of recurrent lesions evaluated by central-reviewed positron emission tomography–computed tomography image shouldn't be more than 3. Eligible patients are randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either SCR followed by 6 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance or 6 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance alone. Patients who undergo at least 4 cycles of chemotherapy and must be, in the opinion of the investigator, without disease progression, will be assigned niraparib maintenance. Major inclusion criteria are secondary relapsed OC with a platinum-free interval of no less than 6 months and a possibly complete resection. Major exclusion criteria are borderline tumors and non-epithelial ovarian malignancies, received debulking surgery at recurrence and impossible to complete resection. The sample size is 96 patients. Primary endpoint is 12-month non-progression rate. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03983226

      • Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis in Identification of Endometrial Cancer Prognosis Markers

Zhu, Xiao-Lu,Ai, Zhi-Hong,Wang, Juan,Xu, Yan-Li,Teng, Yin-Cheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9

Objective: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecologic malignancy. Identification of potential biomarkers of EC would be helpful for the detection and monitoring of malignancy, improving clinical outcomes. Methods: The Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis method was used to identify prognostic markers for EC in this study. Moreover, underlying molecular mechanisms were characterized by KEGG pathway enrichment and transcriptional regulation analyses. Results: Seven gene co-expression modules were obtained, but only the turquoise module was positively related with EC stage. Among the genes in the turquoise module, COL5A2 (collagen, type V, alpha 2) could be regulated by PBX (pre-B-cell leukemia homeobox 1)1/2 and HOXB1(homeobox B1) transcription factors to be involved in the focal adhesion pathway; CENP-E (centromere protein E, 312kDa) by E2F4 (E2F transcription factor 4, p107/p130-binding); MYCN (v-myc myelocytomatosis viral related oncogene, neuroblastoma derived [avian]) by PAX5 (paired box 5); and BCL-2 (B-cell CLL/lymphoma 2) and IGFBP-6 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein 6) by GLI1. They were predicted to be associated with EC progression via Hedgehog signaling and other cancer related-pathways. Conclusions: These data on transcriptional regulation may provide a better understanding of molecular mechanisms and clues to potential therapeutic targets in the treatment of EC.
