Novel design method for constrained conjugate contact curves of line gears based on rolling-up of pitch pattern

Jiang Ding,Yuting Wei,Liwei Liu,Ting Geng 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.9

The line gear is an innovative gear transmission usually manufactured for mini gear boxes in small machines, which is designed according to the meshing theory of threedimensional conjugate contact curves. In a line gear pair, the rotation of driving and driven contact curves will form a couple of virtual revolving bodies, which are defined as pitch patterns. The shapes of pitch patterns indicate the working space of the line gear pair, and different kinds of driving and driven contact curves will commonly lead to diverse pitch patterns. In this paper, the shapes of the pitch patterns are as given constraints to design the line gears applied in confining space. Several types of two-dimensional curves (straight line, sine curve and logarithmic curve) are rolled up to form varying three-dimensional contact curves, which can occupy the same working space accordingly. To further indicate the features of the obtained contact curves, the pressure angles and the strength of line gears are calculated and compared concurrently with an experiment pertaining to their transmission errors. The test results show that the transmission errors of all the line gear pairs are below 3 %, indicating that the design theory proposed in this paper can efficiently deduce contact curves for the line gear in constrained spaces and consequently extend the application of the line gear in industrial use.

Improved design method for line gear pair based on screw theory

Jiang Ding,Liwei Liu,Yuting Wei,Aiping Deng 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.4

The line gear (LG) is a novel gear mechanism based on conjugate space curve meshing theory. It is suitable for micro-mechanical systems due to its small size, light weight, and large transmission ratio. Since its invention, the LG pair has been studied from the perspective of differential geometry. To simplify the design process of the LG pair, we studied the LG pair from the innovative perspective of screw algebra. A unified screw coordinate was created for the LG pair, and velocity screws were established to derive its meshing equations. Moreover, the design equations of the center curves and contact curves were calculated for the driving line teeth and the driven line teeth, respectively. Finally, examples of LG pairs were fabricated for the kinematic performance tests, which indicated that the LG pairs designed according to screw theory were capable of performing a stable transmission.

Comparison of cecal microbiota composition in hybrid pigs from two separate three-way crosses

        Yang, Yuting,Shen, Liyan,Gao, Huan,Ran, Jinming,Li, Xian,Jiang, Hengxin,Li, Xueyan,Cao, Zhenhui,Huang, Ying,Zhao, Sumei,Song, Chunlian,Pan, Hongbin Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.7

Objective: The intestinal microbiota plays an important role in host physiology, metabolism, immunity, and behavior. And host genetics could influence the gut microbiota of hybrid animals. The three-way cross model is commonly utilized in commercial pig production; however, the use of this model to analyse the gut microbial composition is rarely reported. Methods: Two three-way hybrid pigs were selected, with Saba pigs as the starting maternal pig: Duroc× (Berkshire×Saba) (DBS) pig, Berkshire×(Duroc×Saba) (BDS) pig. One hundred pigs of each model were reared from 35 days (d) to 210 d. The body weight or feed consumption of all pigs were recorded and their feed/gain (F/G) ratio was calculated. On day 210, 10 pigs from each three-way cross were selected for slaughter, and cecal chyme samples were collected for 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Results: The final body weight (FBW) and average daily gain (ADG) of DBS pigs were significantly higher than those of BDS pigs (p<0.05), while the F/G ratios of DBS pigs were significantly lower than those of BDS pigs (p<0.05). The dominant phyla in DBS and BDS pigs were Bacteroidetes (55.23% vs 59%, respectively) and Firmicutes (36.65% vs 34.86%, respectively) (p>0.05). At the genus level, the abundance of Prevotella, Roseburia, and Anaerovibrio in DBS pigs was significantly lower than in BDS pigs (p<0.01). The abundance of Eubacterium, Clostridium XI, Bacteroides, Methanomassiliicoccus, and Parabacteroides in DBS pigs was significantly higher than in BDS pigs (p<0.05). The FBWs and ADGs were positively correlated with Bacteroides, ClostridiumXI, and Parabacteroides but negatively correlated with the Prevotella, Prevotella/Bacteroides (P/B) ratio, Roseburia, and Anaerovibrio. Conclusion: These results indicated that host genetics affect the cecal microbiota composition and the porcine gut microbiota is associated with growth performance, thereby suggesting that gut microbiota composition may be a useful biomarker in porcine genetics and breeding.

Resistive switching behavior and mechanism of room-temperaturefabricated flexible Al/TiS2-PVP/ITO/PET memory devices

        Deyuan Lyu,Cong Hu,Yuting Jiang,Na Bai,Qi Wang,Deyan He,Jing Qi,Yingtao Li 한국물리학회 2019 Current Applied Physics Vol.19 No.4

The mixture of two-dimensional (2D) TiS2 nanoflakes and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) exhibits a nonvolatile, bipolar resistive switching behavior with a low resistance state (LRS)/high resistance state (HRS) current ratio of ∼102 in the devices with a flexible Al/TiS2-PVP/indium tin oxide (ITO)/polyethylene terephthalate (PET) structure. The polymer-assistant liquid-phase exfoliation of 2D nanoflakes from TiS2 bulk material is processed in low-boiling solvent. And the fabrication process of these devices is performed entirely at room temperature. Such an energy-saving and scalable production process indicates a huge potential of large-scale industrial application. The AFM and TEM characterizations showed that the exfoliated 2D TiS2 are flakes at micrometer scale with a layer-number of mostly 7 or 8. Both the HRS and the LRS can be kept for more than 104 s. The endurance of devices was obtained over 100 direct current (DC) sweeping cycles with remarkable separations between different resistive states. The distributions of writing (set) and erasing (reset) voltages show that set and reset voltages are small (< 2 V). Also, the resistive switching characteristics of the devices are stable during 1000 bending cycles. The switching behavior is explained by the thinning and recovery of Schottky barriers within devices.

      • IoT Makes Life Simpler: How to Improve the Chinese Consumer’s Intention to Use of LG HomNet Smart Home

        Xiang-Dong Shen,Xi Chen,Yuting Jiang,Haixin Ji 한국무역학회 2022 Journal of Korea trade Vol.26 No.8

Purpose – The paper aims to develop the theory of TAM and perceived risk through a more comprehensive and rigorous understanding of the influencing factors of the consumer’s adoption of LG HomNet smart home from the perspective of trade-offs. Design/methodology – Based on the TAM and perceived risk theory, combined with the individual characteristics of consumers in the context of information technology as the external factors of the technology acceptance model, this paper constructs a theoretical model of the factors affecting the use intention of the consumer. It was empirically tested by using SEM, and survey data was collected from 458 respondents. Findings – The research results show that 9 hypotheses of the research model are supported and have reliable prediction accuracy. Consumers’ perceived interest, perceived connectivity and perceived controllability have a significant positive impact on their intention to use. In addition, this paper also confirmed the mediating effect of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Originality/value – Consumers are very concerned about gains and losses. Low-level performance risks, security risks, and financial risks will drive the consumer to have a stronger intention to use, and financial risks have the strongest impact. This research provides a useful implication and guidance for smart home equipment manufacturers and service providers in product and service innovation and marketing and promotion strategies.

      • Histone Demethylase Expression Enhances Human Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer Efficiency and Promotes Derivation of Pluripotent Stem Cells

        Chung, Young Gie,Matoba, Shogo,Liu, Yuting,Eum, Jin Hee,Lu, Falong,Jiang, Wei,Lee, Jeoung Eun,Sepilian, Vicken,Cha, Kwang Yul,Lee, Dong Ryul,Zhang, Yi Elsevier 2015 Cell stem cell Vol.17 No.6

Summary

The extremely low efficiency of human embryonic stem cell (hESC) derivation using somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) limits its potential application. Blastocyst formation from human SCNT embryos occurs at a low rate and with only some oocyte donors. We previously showed in mice that reduction of histone H3 lysine 9 trimethylation (H3K9me3) through ectopic expression of the H3K9me3 demethylase Kdm4d greatly improves SCNT embryo development. Here we show that overexpression of a related H3K9me3 demethylase KDM4A improves human SCNT, and that, as in mice, H3K9me3 in the human somatic cell genome is an SCNT reprogramming barrier. Overexpression of KDM4A significantly improves the blastocyst formation rate in human SCNT embryos by facilitating transcriptional reprogramming, allowing efficient derivation of SCNT-derived ESCs using adult Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) patient somatic nuclei donors. This conserved mechanistic insight has potential applications for improving SCNT in a variety of contexts, including regenerative medicine.

Highlights

H3K9me3 is a barrier for human SCNT reprogramming as in mouse

Injection of human KDM4A mRNA improves SCNT success in mouse oocytes

KDM4A also improves human SCNT blastocyst formation and NT-ESC derivation

H3K9me3 removal facilitates zygotic genome activation in human SCNT embryos

Graphical Abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Comparative portrayal of ocular surface microbe with and without dry eye

        ZhenHao Li,Yufang Gong,ShuZe Chen,SiQi Li,Yu Zhang,HuiMin Zhong,ZhouCheng Wang,YiFan Chen,QiXin Deng,YuTing Jiang,LiYing Li,Min Fu,GuoGuo Yi 한국미생물학회 2019 The journal of microbiology Vol.57 No.11

To compare the ocular surface (OS) microbial communities and diversity between dry eye (DE) and non-DE (NDE). Furthermore, we compared meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and non-MGD (NMGD) among DE subjects. The V3-V4 region of 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing was performed in the conjunctival swab samples to investigate the composition of the OS bacterial community in DE (n=35) and NDE (n=54) and compared the composition of MGD (n=25) and NMGD (n=10) among DE subjects. Deep sequencing of OS 16S rDNA from DE (n=35) and NDE (n=54) demonstrated great a difference in alpha and beta diversity between the OS bacterial flora (P < 0.05). The similar OS microbial structures were shown at the phylum and genus levels by bioinformatics analysis between them, and in LEfSe (linear discriminant analysis effect size) analysis, Bacteroidia and Bacteroidetes were enriched in DE, while Pseudomonas was plentiful in NDE (linear discriminant analysis [LDA] > 4.0). Among the DE group, there was no significant difference in α and β diversity between MGD and NMGD (P > 0.05). Surprisingly, Bacilli was the dominant microbe in MGD, and Bacteroidetes was the superior bacteria in NMGD among DE subjects (LDA > 4.0). Different diversity of OS bacteria composition between DE and NDE and the altered diversity of OS bacteria may play an important role in DE. Moreover, the lower dominance of OS bacteria in DE may be associated with the occurrence and development of DE. Although there was no significant difference in alpha and beta analysis, the OS dominant microbe between MGD and NMGD among DE was different.
