      • The Rise of India's Right Wing and Its Impact on Sino-Indian Relations

        Maoxia Jiang(Maoxia Jiang),Yu Zhong(Yu Zhong) 아시아사회과학학회 2022 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.9 No.2

China and India are good neighbors and partners, linked by mountains and rivers, and have a long history of friendly exchanges. The exchange of civilizations between the two countries has set a good example for global civilizational dialogue. Conflicts, confrontation, and friction have dominated Sino-Indian relations in recent years owing to the rise of the global right wing, and the risk of confrontation caused by a lack of political mutual trust between China and India has increased. The main reason is that, against the backdrop of the global right wing's sharp rise, the Indian right wing has promoted a steady rise in anti-China sentiment throughout the country, resulting in a steady decline in Sino-Indian relations. The ongoing deterioration of Sino-Indian relations, against the backdrop of an increasingly complicated international and domestic situation, is not conducive to China's peaceful development. To get Sino-Indian relations back on track, China must first correctly understand the situation of India's domestic right wing and then grasp the development of India's domestic situation over time. At the same time, it must firmly grasp the development direction of Sino-Indian relations and resolve contradictions and conflicts between China and India in a timely manner in order to maintain regional peace and stability as well as create a favorable environment for China's sustainable development.

Detection of reactive oxygen species generated by microwave electrodeless discharge lamp and application in photodegradation of H2S

        Jiang Yu,Yang Yu,Tingting Zhang,Liqiong Zheng 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.7

The photodegradation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) was examined using a self-made microwave electrodeless discharge lamp (MEDL). The features of the MEDL had been tested. The results showed that the MEDL absorbed 18.3, 32.7 and 41.8W power at the microwave (MW) output power of 165, 330 and 660W, respectively. The intensity of the emitted light increased with increasing MW output power. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by irradiated air and nitrogen were detected, respectively. It was illustrated that the irradiated air could generate a number of ROS, at least including 1O2 and •OH. And the amount of ROS increased with increasing MW output power. In photodegradation of H2S process, the effects of MW output power and gas composition were investigated. The removal efficiency of H2S under nitrogen was obviously lower compared with that under air. The removal efficiency of H2S increased with increasing MW output power.

Performance Analysis of a Hydrodynamic Separator for Treating Particulate Pollutants in Highway Rainfall Runoff

Yu Jiang Hua,Qi Tao Yi,Young Chul Kim 대한환경공학회 2009 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.14 No.4

This study examined the separation characteristics of particles in the rainfall runoff from paved roads using a φ7.5 cm hydrocyclone. The volume fraction and total suspended solids concentrations in the overflow and underflow from the hydrocyclone, as well as the separation efficiency were determined. The results indicated that the overflow volume increased with increasing operational pressure, but decreased with decreasing ratio of underflow outlet to inlet sizes (Du/Di), while the underflow to overflow volumes showed contrary behavior. The total suspended solid (TSS) concentration ratio between the overflow and inflow (TSSover/in) decreased as a function of the operational pressure, while the corresponding ratio of underflow to inflow (TSSunder/in) increased. There was no visible difference in the TSSover/in with increasing Du/Di ratio, but the TSSunder/in decreased sharply. The particle removal efficiency was mainly affected by the particle size.

Flexural performance of fire damaged and rehabilitated two span reinforced concrete slabs and beams

        Yu, Jiang-Tao,Liu, Yuan,Lu, Zhou-Dao,Xiang, Kai Techno-Press 2012 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.42 No.6

Five two-span reinforced concrete (RC) slabs and seven two-span RC beams were tested under the ISO 834 standard fire with different durations. CFRP strengthening was then applied to some of the specimens after the damaged concrete was removed from the specimens and replaced with polymer mortar. All the specimens were loaded to failure to investigate the influence of fire-damage and the effectiveness of strengthening methods. Test results indicated that the flexural capacities of specimens decrease with the fire duration increases. Moreover, fire exposure had more significant effect on the flexural rigidity than on the bearing capacity of the specimens. After rehabilitation, the bearing capacities of specimens reached or even exceeded that of the reference RC specimen, and the strengthening methods seemed to have limited effect on flexural rigidity recovery. From the analysis of moment redistribution of tested beams, elevated temperature is found having different impacts on sagging moment region and hogging moment region. The damage of RC continuous member is definitely a comprehensive response of different regions.

Pathological Impact on the Phyllosphere Microbiota of Artemisia argyi by Haze

        ( Yu-zhu Zhang ),( De-yu Jiang ),( Chi Zhang ),( Kun Yang ),( Huai-fu Wang ),( Xiu-wen Xia ),( Wei-jun Ding ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2021 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.31 No.4

The pathological impact of haze upon the phyllosphere microbiota awaits investigation. A moderate degree of haze environment and a clean control were selected in Chengdu, China. Artemisia argyi, a ubiquitously distributed and extensively applied Chinese herb, was also chosen for experiment. Total genome DNA was extracted from leaf samples, and for metagenome sequencing, an Illumina HiSeq 2500 platform was applied. The results showed that the gene numbers of phyllosphere microbiota derived from haze leaves were lower than those of the clean control. The phyllosphere microbiota derived from both haze and clean groups shared the same top ten phyla; the abundances of Proteobacteria, Actinomycetes and Anorthococcuso of the haze group were substantially increased, while Ascomycetes and Basidiomycetes decreased. At the genus level, the abundances of Nocardia, Paracoccus, Marmoricola and Knoelia from haze leaves were markedly increased, while the yeasts were statistically decreased. KEGG retrieval demonstrated that the functional genes were most annotated to metabolism. An interesting find of this work is that the phyllosphere microbiota responsible for the synthesis of primary and secondary metabolites in A. argyi were significantly increased under a haze environment. Relatively enriched genes annotated by eggNOG belong to replication, recombination and repair, and genes classified into the glycoside hydrolase and glycosyltransferase enzymes were significantly increased. In summary, we found that both structure and function of phyllosphere microbiota are globally impacted by haze, while primary and secondary metabolites responsible for haze tolerance were considerably increased. These results suggest an adaptive strategy of plants for tolerating and confronting haze damage.

      • Human Liver Specific Transcriptional Factor TCP10L Binds to MAD4

        Jiang, Dao-Jun,Yu, Hong-Xiu,Hexige, Sa-Yin,Guo, Ze-Kun,Wang, Xiang,Ma, Li-Jie,Chen, Zheng,Zhao, Shou-Yuan,Yu, Long Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2004 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.37 No.4

A human gene T-complex protein 10 like (TCP10L) was cloned in our lab. A previous study showed that it expressed specifically in the liver and testis. A transcription experiment revealed that TCP10L was a transcription factor with transcription inhibition activity. In this study, the human MAD4 was identified to interact with TCP10L by a yeast two-hybrid screen. This finding was confirmed by immunoprecipitation and subcellular localization experiments. As MAD4 is a member of the MAD family, which antagonizes the functions of MYC and promotes cell differentiation, the biological function of the interaction between TCP10L and MAD4 may be to maintain the differentiation state in liver cells. Also, we propose that the up-regulation of Myc is caused by the down-regulation of TCP10L in human hepatocarcinomas.

Nicotine exacerbates tacrolimus-induced renal injury by programmed cell death

( Yu Ji Jiang ),( Sheng Cui ),( Kang Luo ),( Jun Ding ),( Qi Yan Nan ),( Shang Guo Piao ),( Mei Ying Xuan ),( Hai Lan Zheng ),( Yong Jie Jin ),( Ji Zhe Jin ),( Jung Pyo Lee ),( Byung Ha Chung ),( Bum 대한내과학회 2021 The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine Vol.36 No.6

Background/Aims: Cigarette smoking is an important modifiable risk factor in kidney disease progression. However, the underlying mechanisms for this are lacking. This study aimed to assess whether nicotine (NIC), a major toxic component of cigarette smoking, would exacerbates tacrolimus (TAC)-induced renal in-jury. Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were treated daily with NIC, TAC, or both drugs for 4 weeks. The influence of NIC on TAC-caused renal injury was examined via renal function, histopathology, oxidative stress, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and programmed cell death (apoptosis and autophagy). Results: Both NIC and TAC significantly impaired renal function and histopathology, while combined NIC and TAC treatment aggravated these parameters beyond the effects of either alone. Increased oxidative stress, ER stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, proinflammatory and profibrotic cytokine expressions, and programmed cell death from either NIC or TAC were also aggravated by the two combined. Conclusions: Our observations suggest that NIC exacerbates chronic TAC nephrotoxicity, implying that smoking cessation may be beneficial for transplant smokers taking TAC.

Enhancing the Photovoltaic Performance of Polymer Solar Cells by Manipulating Photoactive/Metal Interface

        Jiang, Yu,Sai-Anand, Gopalan,Xu, Binrui,Lee, Jae-Sung,Kim, Sae-Wan,Yeom, Se-Hyuk,Bae, Jin-Hyuk,Kang, Shin-Won American Scientific Publishers 2017 Journal of nanoscience and nanotechnology Vol.17 No.11

<P>In this work, a hybrid system composed of inorganic zinc oxide nanocrystals (ZnO NCs) and the organic conjugated polymer (poly[(9,9-bis(3'-(N, N-dimethylamino) propyl)-2,7-fluorene)-alt-2,7-( 9,9-dioctylfluorene)]) (PFN) was utilized as an electron selective interlayer (ESIL) to improve the electro-optical characteristics of bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) polymer solar cells (PSCs). To accomplish, water/alcohol-soluble cationic polyelectrolyte, PFN, was introduced into ZnO NCs (ZnO-PFN), aiming to enhance the electron extraction capability between the photoactive layer and the metal (Al) electrode in standard geometry BHJ PSCs. Importantly, the ZnO-PFN blend system achieved a higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) than pristine (ZnO NCs) ESILs. Moreover, an optimized photovoltaic (PV) performance was obtained with a low volume of PFN incorporated into the ZnO NCs ESIL. To validate the PV performance, PSCs were fabricated based on co-polymer of thienyl substituted BDT with TT:phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PBDTTT-C-T:PC71BM) and poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl): phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT:PC61BM) photoactive systems and observed superior PV characteristics for ZnO-PFN hybrid ESILs. The optical transparency, microstructure, and morphological characteristics were evaluated using appropriate characterization techniques to demonstrate the superiority of the hybrid ZnO-PFN blend system. PSCs based on this ZnO-PFN composite based ESIL suggested an alternative practical approach to enhance the efficiency of the fabricated devices.</P>
