<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We have investigated the angle-dependent orbital and spin magnetic moments of the [Co/Pd] multilayer (ML) films with intervening CoO layers under annealing by employing angle-dependent soft X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). After annealing, the orbital magnetic moments of Co ions are found to be enhanced, with the maximum values along the perpendicular direction of [Co/Pd] ML, providing evidence for the origin of the improved perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) being the interface spin–orbit coupling. The induced Pd polarization was observed after annealing, demonstrating the strong Co-Pd hybridization arising from the Co-Pd alloy formation near the interface. The angle-dependent coercivity follows the 1 / cos θ behavior, suggesting that the magnetization reversal in the hysteresis curve in [Co/Pd] ML occurs mainly through the pinning mechanism.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Angle-dependent XMCD were performed on hybrid [CoO/Pd]<SUB>2</SUB>[Co/Pd]<SUB>7</SUB> multilayers that exhibit enhanced PMA. </LI> <LI> The enhanced orbital magnetic moments indicates that the origin of the improved PMA is the interface spin–orbit coupling. </LI> <LI> The induced Pd polarization after annealing demonstrates the strong Co-Pd hybridization arising from the Co-Pd alloy formation near the interface. </LI> <LI> The angle-dependent coercivity suggests that the magnetization reversal in [Co/Pd] ML occurs mainly through the pinning mechanism. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P>The electronic structures of Prussian blue analog (RbxBay) Mn[3-(x+2y)]/2[Fe(CN)(6)] cyanides have been investigated by employing soft x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) at the Fe and Mn L (2p) edges. The measured XAS spectra have been analyzed with the configuration-interaction (CI) cluster model calculations. The valence states of the Fe and Mn ions are found to be Fe2+-Fe3+ mixed valent, with an average valency of v(Fe) similar to 2.8 and nearly divalent (Mn2+), respectively. Our Mn/Fe 2p XMCD study supports that Mn2+ ions are in the high-spin states while Fe2+-Fe3+ ions are in the low-spin states. The Fe and Mn 2p XAS spectra are found to be essentially the same for 80 <= T <= 300 K, suggesting that a simple charge transfer upon cooling from Fe3+- CN-Mn2+ to Fe (2+)-CN-Mn3+ does not occur in (RbxBay) Mn[3-(x+2y)]/2[Fe(CN)(6)]. According to the CI cluster model analysis, it is necessary to take into account both the ligand-to-metal charge transfer and the metal-to-ligand charge transfer in describing Fe 2p XAS, while the effect of charge transfer is negligible in describing Mn 2p XAS. The CI cluster model analysis also shows that the trivalent Fe3+ ions have a strong covalent bonding with the C equivalent to N ligands and are under a large crystal-field energy of 10Dq similar to 3 eV, in contrast to the weak covalency effect and a small 10Dq similar to 0.6 eV for the divalent Mn2+ ions.</P>
Controlling the Magnetic Properties of the Van der Waals Ferromagnet Fe₃GeTe₂

Identifying material parameters that affect magnetic properties of ferromagnets is key to optimize materials better suited for spintronics applications. Here, we propose an effective hole doping method to modulate the magnetic anisotropy of a van der Waals ferromagnet, and explore the physical origin of this effect. Experimental measurements of the doping and thickness dependent magnetic properties of thin Fe<sub>3-x</sub>GeTe<sub>2</sub> show a significant suppression of the magnetic anisotropy with hole doping. From the measured and calculated doping dependent electronic structure, we find that the energy gain by the spin-orbit induced band splitting is reduced by the chemical potential shift associated with hole doping, which in turn reduce the magnetic anisotropy energy. The identified mechanism provides an understanding of the doping induced modulation of magnetic properties in Fe<sub>3</sub>GeTe<sub>2</sub> thin films.

Es handelt sich bei dem Versuch, den Individuationsschritt des Volkes Israel am Beginn seiner Geschichte mit Hilfe von M. Mahlers entwicklungspsychologischer Theorie zu interpretieren. Das M. Mahlersche Modell teilt die Entwicklung der ersten drei Lebensjahre in drei Hauptphasen ein: die autistische Phase, die symbiotische Phase, die Loslösungs- und Individuationsphase. Margaret S. Mahlers Loslösungs- und Individuationstheorie ist einer der ersten systematischen Versuche im Rahmen der psychoanalytischen Theorie, klinisch abgeleitete analytische Konzepte der frühen psychischen Entwicklung mit empirischen Erkenntnissen aus der Säuglingsforschung und detaillierten Langzeitbeobachtungen der Mutter-Kind-Beziehung zu verbinden. Was die biblischen Exodusgeschichten in ihrem ersten Teil zur Sprache bringen, ist die dramatische Darstellung eines kollektiven Trennungsschrittes aus der symbiotischen Verflochtenheit mit Ägypten. Das psychoanalytische Entwicklungsmodell der Exodusgeschichte liegt sich als Interpretationsmuster zugrunde, dann geht es einzig darum, die alttestamentliche Gotteserfahrung in seiner identitätsbildenden Dynamik nachzuzeichnen als heute gültiges Modell individueller und kollektiver Subjektwerdung. 1994년 2월에 경상북도 경주시 배반동 중마을에서 탄저병 환자가 집단으로 발생하였다. 환자들은 죽어가는 소를 먹고 위장관형 탄저병에 걸렸으며, 28명이 발병하여 3명이 죽었다. 저자들은 집단 발병 환자중 1명으로부터 편도선에서 탄저균을 분리하였다. 환자는 쇠간을 날로 먹고 감염되었으며, 편도선염과 같은 임상 증세를 보였다. 우리나라에서 탄저병은 위장관형 탄저병이 집단으로 발생하는 특성이 있다. 쇠고기를 먹은 사람들에게 편도섬염, 목의 부종, 또는 위장관 증세가 집단으로 발생하면 탄저병을 감별하는 것이 중요하다. An outbreak of anthrax occurred in a village of Kyungsangbookdo province in February, 1994. The source of infection was raw meat and liver from an infected cow. Among those who ate the meat or liver, 28 developed gastrointestinal anthrax, and 3 patients died. We report a patient with anthrax tonsillitis. She ate raw bovine liver. The diagnosis was confirmed by the isolation of Bacillus anthracis from a tonsillar swab. Epidemiologically anthrax in Korea occurs as an outbreak of gastrointestinal anthrax by the ingestion of beef. Gastrointestinal anthrax should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a food-borne outbreak caused by ingestion of raw bovine meat.
