The Ti-Al-V-N films have been deposited on various substrates by d.c and r.f reactive magnetron sputtering from a Ti-6Al-4V alloy target in mixed Ar-N₂discharges. The films were investigated by means of XRD, AES, SEM/EDX, microhardness, TG and scratch test. The XRD and SEM results indicated that the films were of single B1 NaCl phase having dense columnar structure with the (111) preferred orientation. The composition of Ti-Al-V-N film was the Ti-7.1Al-4.3V-N(wt%) films. Adhesion and microhardness of Ti-Al-V-N films deposited by r.f magnetron sputtering method were better than those deposited by d.c magnetron sputtering method. The anti-oxidation properties of Ti-Al-V-N films were also superior to that of Ti-N film deposited by the same deposition conditions.

The quaternary Ti-Al-V-N films have been grown on glass substrates by reactive dc and rf magnetron sputter deposition from a Ti-6Al-4V target in mixed Ar-N₂discharges. The Ti-Al-V-N films were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD), electron probe microanalysis(EPMA) and scratch tester. Both XRD and EPMA results indicated that the Ti-Al-V-N films were of single B1 NaCl phase having columnar structure with the (111) preferred orientation. Scratch tester results showed that the adhesion strength of Ti-Al-V-N films which treated with substrate heating and vacuum annealing was superior to that of as-deposited film. The good adhesion strength was also achieved in the double-layer structure of Ti-Al-V-N/Ti-Al-V/Glass

부산지역조선소에 근무하는 547명의 용접공을 대상으로 용접공진폐증의 유소견율을 작업부서, 용접기간, 용접시작 년도, 연령과 마스크사용에 따라 비교하였다. 전체 용접공진폐증의 유소견율은 7.9%로 동지역에서 1989년 조사된 유소견율 8.9%보다 낮았다. 용접공진폐증의 유소견율은 용접작업기간이 길수록, 작업시작년동가 빠를수록, 마스크를 사용하지 않은군에서 통계적으로 유의하여 높게 관찰되어 용접공진폐증의 발생에 용접작업기간, 환경개선정도와 마스크사용의 영향을 미치는 인자로 관찰되었다. 이들 인자중 용접기간 5-9년군이 5년 이하군에 대하여, 1975년 이전 용접시작군, 1976-81년 용접시작군이 1982년 이후 시작군에 대한 odds ratio가 각 각 5.98, 8,8과 12.38였다. 용접공진폐증자 37명의 방사선사진은 과거와 비교한 결과 진행된 예는 없었으며, 10명은 변화가 없었다. 비진폐군에 비하여 용접공진폐군에서 결핵유병율이 통계적으로 유의하게 높게 관찰되었다. 이상의 결과에서 조선소에서 발생하는 용접공진폐증은 환경개선 및 보호구의 적절한 착용 등으로 발생을 예방하는 것이 가능하고, 발생된 경우라도 역시 적절한 관리에 의해 호전되므로, 조선조 용접공 진폐증은 타 진폐증과는 구분 관리되어야 할 것이다. 즉 조선소 용접공진폐증의 발생을 예방하기 위하여 지속적인 법적규제와 근로자 개인에 대한 보호구 사용의 필요성 및 올바른 보호구 사용에 대한 교육이 필요하겠으며, 발생한 용접공진폐증은 즉각적인 작업부서전환보다는 진폐증이 발생한 부서의 환경개선을 고려함과 동시에 진폐발생자에게 보호구착용 등을 지도하면서 추적 관리를 하여야 할 것이다. Pneumoconiosis is one of the most important occupational disease in Korea. In Pusan, most of pneumoconiosis is welders' pneumoconiosis developed in shipyard. With clinical(including interview with every patients) and radiological(chest radiographs) methods, author purposed to know the factors related to the concept for health care(management) of shipyard welders. The prevalence rate of welders' pneumoconiosis was calculated by the means of reading of chest radiographs of 547 shipyard welders. The prevalence rate of welders' pneumoconiosis(including suspected pneumoconiosis, category 0/1) was 7.9%. It was lower than that (8.9%) in same area studied in 1989. Prevalence rate increased as total welding duration increased and the welding work began early. It was higher in welders who did not use antidust mask. Probability of the occurrence of welder's pneumoconiosis was related with the time that the welder began welding work. sixteen cases among the 37 who were diagnosed as pneumoconiosis returned normal in the follow-up chest radiographs. There was no case aggrevated. The pertinent management for the personnels and their working environment contributed to the decrease of incidence of the welders' pneumoconiosis and the improvement of the disease. Tp prevent the occurrence of the pneumoconiosis in shipyard welders, it seems to be necessary for the company to be supervised under the any legislation, and to educate the welder to use the protective apparatus. It is suggested that considerate and continuous observation under the adequate management is preferable to the immediate conversion of the working department for the pneumoconiotic welders.

<P>A necrotizing retinitis in children is a rare but vision-threatening ocular complication of chickenpox. We report a 10-year-old girl who developed chickenpox 1 month before presenting with panuveitis and necrotizing retinitis. After prompt antiviral treatment, her inflammatory signs were resolved. Early detection and treatment of varicella zoster-associated necrotizing retinitis after chickenpox can achieve good visual outcome.</P>
Molecular cloning and analysis of the <i>Thermus caldophilus</i> ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Previously, we have purified a highly thermostable ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (EC 2.7.7.27; AGPase) from <I>Thermus caldophilus</I> GK-24. In the present paper, we further report the molecular cloning and characterization of the thermostable bacterial AGPase. Using a 0.6-kb DNA probe obtained by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with a primer set deduced from the <I>N</I>-terminal and internal amino acid sequence, the AGPase gene was cloned. The cloned AGPase gene had a 1245-bp open reading frame that encodes a protein of 414 amino acids. Then, the full-length AGPase gene was further cloned into the pHCE19T(II) vector and was expressed in <I>Escherichia coli</I> DH5α. Western analysis of the recombinant enzyme showed the same immunity as the wild-type enzyme with a molecular mass of ca. 46kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The kinetic parameters of the recombinant AGPase were basically similar to the wild type. The <I>N</I>-terminal region of <I>T. caldophilus</I> AGPase showed a partial similarity to that of <I>E. coli,</I> and R336 and P295 were identical to those of <I>E. coli</I> AGPase. In addition, sequence comparison revealed that R177 and P235 of <I>T. caldophilus</I> AGPase were aligned with K195 and K247 of <I>E. coli,</I> and K376 with R386, while K195 residue of <I>E. coli</I> was reported to be located in the glucose-1-phosphate (Glc-1-P) substrate binding region.</P>
부산지역 모 공단 및 인근지역 사업체의 산업보건 실태에 관한 조사연구

부산지역 공단 및 인근지역 사업체의 산업보건실태를 파악하기 위하여 205개 사업체의 보건담당자를 대상으로 1990년도의 보건실태에 관한 설문조사를 하였다. 조사내용을 일반사항, 보건관리실태에 관한 사항, 작업장 유해환경 및 보호구 지급사항, 건강관련 사항 및 근무조건에 관한 사항 등으로 대별하여 분석ㆍ관찰하였다. In order to obtain the fundamental data for developing more effective and acceptable programs of public health manegement in an industrial complex, 205 health manager in the plants answered the questionaire of the status of industrial health during 1990. The questionaire consisted of general charateristics, health care status, environmental problems, health problems, and others. 72.4% of 205 plants had less than 100 workers. Fabricated metal manufacture was 32.4%. Although Footwear manufacture was 6.4%, the percentage of workers was 33.1% of total workers. The percentage(56.2) of retired women was higher than that(38.2) of men. 51.9% of total plants has recieving group health care services. 85.4% of plants was exposed to noise, 66.5% was exposed to dust. Ear plug and mask were given to prevent noise and dust in 69.2% and 68.6%, respectively. Among 22,299 workers, 618(2.8%) were diagnosed as suspected non-occupatinal disease. 85.9% of them worked on continuously and had their disease treated. The cases suspected for occupational disease was 100 workers. 82.5% of them changed their post. 45% had the compensation for their occuaptional disease. The rate of working: accidents was 2.3%.
